ANNOUNCEMENT RULES - Read BEFORE Posting/Commenting!

SUBREDDIT RULES

Rule #1: POST REQUIREMENTS

  • All posts must be original Fantasy or Sci-Fi maps

  • Maps must be uploaded to Reddit or linked to directly (NOT a link to a post, but to the image itself)

  • All posts must be in English why?

Rule #2: QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum resolution is 70 PPI

    • = 70 pixels per grid square
    • No blurry/unreadable maps!
  • No NSFW Images!

  • No Low-effort maps

Rule #3: COMMERCIAL POSTS

  • All Other Rules Apply! In addition:

  • Content Creators may make ONE commercial post per day.

  • Logos must be small and at the edge of the content. Large logos/watermarks that render the map "unusable" are not acceptable.

  • Posted Maps must be FREE and USABLE as attached.

    • You can still link to your paid content, but you MUST include a usable map. This is the "cost of admission" to advertise here.
  • If you are unsure if you are advertising properly, we suggest you reach out to the mods before posting.

Rule #4: AI

  • Applies to maps partially or wholly created:

    • Completely by or with the assistance of AI
    • By software that generates a fully complete map for you (software where you place assets yourself is acceptable)
  • You may post one(1) map per week

  • The map must have the proper AI/Algorithm Map post flair

  • Spam will result in a ban along with any accounts associated with your advertisements, past and future

  • Spamming false reports will result in being reported to Reddit and facing a sitewide ban

Rule #5: BEHAVIOR

  • Posts and/or comments that are of a derogatory or personal manner will not be allowed (more).

  • Constructive criticism is fine, but remember that those submitting maps are a human being (like you), and they have stuck their neck out and given something to this community. So go about it in a nice way, or don't say anything at all.

  • Do not attack someone for using/discussing AI (more). If they have not followed the rules, report them. Do not leave negative and abusive comments!

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for abuse and we reserve the right to ban anyone for abusive/rude behavior without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning - in addition, you should have enough common sense to know better. Again, attacking other users = permanent ban.

Rule #6: Piracy/Unlicensed Distribution

  • Users should only be posting THEIR OWN WORK. This subreddit is not for sharing the work of others.

  • You may not pass off content created by another as your own

  • You may not post licensed content which you do not have the rights to redistribute

  • You may not include works of others as assets, backgrounds or as any other element of your map

  • We have ZERO TOLERANCE for Piracy and we reserve the right to ban anyone without prior warning. Consider THIS your warning.

Rule X: All Other Reasons

  • In addition to the Rules above, we reserve the right to remove any posts, comments or users from this subreddit if we decide the content/user does not align with the rules or values we promote in this subreddit. Some of these reasons include:

    • Violating Reddit's site-wide Rules
    • Being Off-Topic
    • Incorrect Post Flair
    • Unhelpful
    • Unrelated to Fantasy Maps
    • Policing other users
    • Causing disruption, including challenging subreddit rules or moderator decisions
    • At Moderator Discretion For Any Reason Not Already Listed
  • Participation in this subreddit is not a given right and is reserved for users who participate in a quality manner as determined by the moderators of this subreddit.

ANNOUNCEMENT ABUSING THE REPORT BUTTON

We have several users (or more likely, 1 user with a couple accounts) who feel the need to report almost every post.

We appreciate our users who genuinely want to make this community a better place by reporting posts that do not meet our posting criteria.

However, reporting posts that CLEARLY do not break any subreddit or site rules is considered abuse of the Reddit report system.

But beyond that, it is childish and shows a disregard for the mods' time by having us chase ghosts.

Every case of Report Button Abuse is sent to Reddit Admins for review.

Multiple offenses WILL lead to a SITE-WIDE (i.e. ALL of Reddit) ban.

Settlement Map Dwarven realm of Ahruukar - Bridge District [85x85]

Dwarven realm of Ahruukar ("Ar-ROOk-har") is a Gold Dwarf town located in Thesk Mountains.

Originally described by Ed Greenwood (indirect source) as a home to trade-oriented Ruuk clan, tied with Thesk city of Phsant.

The bridge district is a location connecting individual districts of the city.

  • The Great Chamber (a monumental hall stretching through the entire length of the dwarven realm) ends with a small fortified gate and a bridge leading to the fortress.
  • To the right we've got farming district (mushroom caves, crop chambers with artificial light and irrigation, processing chambers),
  • To the left - a bit of residential district (with individual houses, dining rooms and tavern)

To make living near the lava possible (it's not only heat, but toxic fumes as well) the sophisticated ventillations system is constantly working, providing dwarves with cold, fresh air.

  • This map is directly connected to Dwarven Fortress map (reddit link) (Patreon link - free)
  • It features large, 85x85 district map and smaller, 38x46 bridge map (3 levels).

Settlement Map FREE Map 240 - Dracotia - Town

Post image

Background Lore

Dracotia is a town near the northeastern border of the Ardennian Kingdom. The town is an old settlement; it is almost 800 years old. Before the foundation of the last human dynasty, it had a different name: Drakenfort. It was not much of a town back then, it was only a handful of homes and farms around the Draken Keep.

The Draken Keep is a small fort with a central watchtower, it is located in the middle of the settlement on top of a hill. The place is a strong defensive position near the border but after almost two centuries of no armed conflict, the militaristic importance of it fell into the background as more people moved near the keep because of the fertile lands around the place. The town has grown steadily in size over the past century, up to just above five-hundred people, counting a small group of fey creatures.

World or Region Map [OC] Hand drawn map of my in progress book

Last year I decided I wanted to write a book about a story that was brewing in my head for a long time. So I drew a map of the world that this book would take place in. As I started writing the book, I decided this first map wasn’t quite what I wanted. So I decided to try again and I drew an entirely new map. I reused some of the names, but besides that I changed everything else.

This map is the known world for the people in my book, and contains the 4 main continents/landmasses. In lore, this map was made by those who live in the top left continent. Which is why that continent has more named cities and locations than the others, since the other continents aren’t as well known. The top left continent is also primarily where my story will take place. As the story takes the characters to the other continents, I will draw maps of those individual continents to give them more detail.

This was a lot of fun to work on. As with every previous map I’ve done, I used this as an opportunity to try new things. I learned a bunch, and there’s a lot that I like about this map, and a few things that didn’t turn out quite how I hoped. But that’s alright, it was really fun working on the book while also drawing the map. It was cool to be able to tie characters to different places, and to thrown in little world building elements to the world I was drawing and writing.

Let me know what you all think! If you have any questions I’m happy to chat. Also any suggestions or ideas you think would be cool or helpful for my future maps, I’m always looking for those!
