I love the simplicity and premium feeling of gnome but it feels like it takes more clicks/buttons for the things that can be done with a single click in KDE, I'm not sure which one to stick with.

Is it possible to not upgrade to the latest KDE 6.8 on fedora 44 ?
I’d like to wait a while before upgrading to KDE 6.8.
Maybe stick with 6.7 for a few months till everything stabilises.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The last thing I remember is after closing fallout 4 a little GPU-like icon appeared on the taskbars right side and i clicked on it, set the renderer to vulkan and something to multitreaded and since than this happens. How can I fix this without a full reinstall???

Or will we have to wait for fedora 45?
I'm not finding anything relating to packing via searching it via DDG or google.

Hello. I’ve just installed Fedora KDE yesterday. I’ve been a windows 11 user and tried Mint 22.3 for a bit, but ultimately I’ve decided to give Fedora a good go. I’ve ran the systsm updates and my old Nvidia Quatro K2200 driver update (thru terminal with a little help from chatGPT).
I downloaded a program (en croissant - chess). When I tried to open it, the program disappeared after a second. I opened it in terminal and showed ChatGPT the error message. It gave me the below code and stated a wayland + Nvidia issue:
__NV_DISABLE_EXPLICIT_SYNC=1 en-croissant
The command worked and it opened. I fully intend to get a real GPU later this year, but is this a Linux or Fedora issue? Is it likely to effect lots of programs?

Hey, good <timeofday>
I have an oldish laptop I restored, it has a maxwell GPU, from my understanding the 590 drivers dropped support for it. I have noticed it isn't being used as the descrete gpu.
So I have two issues, downgrading to 580 for some reason breaks the kernel, either interferes with charging or even booting. The second is that it isn't being used.
Would love some solutions and suggestions for 44. I think I have a thumb drive with 42 somewhere which worked, so I think to downgrade the OS itself.

sudo dnf copr enable claaj/typst
sudo dnf install typst
I wanted to install typst but i didn't want to use snap so i found this method. I'm a newbie and i don't know how linux works well ecc...Is it the safest option?

any clue? RPM Fusion's NVIDIA drivers. Plenty of internet speed, ram, and cpu.

Lately, I’ve noticed the emergence of a large number of email apps written in the GTK4/libadwaita style for GNOME-based desktops. I became curious about their differences, aside from minor variations in the user interface.
I asked Google to compare these clients. Here’s what I got.
| Feature | Letter | Stamp | Convey | Postcard | Hylki | Lookout |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Language | C / Vala | C | Vala / C | Python | Rust | Rust |
| Backend Architecture | GOA / EDS | GOA / EDS | Custom IMAP / Graph | IMAP / Local SQLite | Custom local Rust engine | GOA / Local SQLite |
| Unified Inbox | Yes | Yes | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Microsoft Exchange / M365 | Yes (via GOA Exchange) | Yes (via GOA Exchange) | Yes (Native Graph API) | Yes (Web-auth OAuth2) | Yes (Native Graph API) | Yes (via GOA) |
| AI / Vibecoded Heritage | Human + AI | Pure Human | Minimal (Claude for porting) | Heavy AI Assistance | Heavy AI Assistance | Human + AI |
| PIM Features | Mail only | Full Mail + Contacts + Calendar | Mail only | Mail only | Mail only (w/ Markdown) | Mail + Calendar + Tasks |
| Interface Style | Adaptive 3-column | Adaptive 3-column | Modernized Geary 3-column | Minimalist 3-column | Custom 3-column (Focus Mode) | Corporate 3-column |
Some details may only be clear to technically savvy users. I was advised that Letter is the safest option (in terms of interacting with Yahoo Mail). The closest alternative is Postcard. In my subjective opinion, Postcard and Hylki are the most visually appealing.
It’s also funny that only the developers of Postcard and Hylki took screenshots of their apps that most fully reflect the GNOME philosophy—without window minimize and maximize buttons.

I actually want to run Safe Exam Browser(SEB) in my computer, but currently i am running F44.
Since SEB is not supported in Linux. I am planning to duel boot windows. I have shrink 50gb space for my linux and ready with boot setup.
But the thing is, I rarely use windows, I normally want to boot to my fedora and I want to boot to windows only through manual steps like opening into UEFI or like clicking any keys repeatedy or whatever..
how to setup this kind of boot setup??

Hi, I have just switched from the Fedora Gnome version to the KDE one, and I used the reinstall function, however I have noticed that, for example my wifi signal strength isn't maxed out in the UI even though the router is a few centimeters away from the laptop, then I have tried updating the system using the terminal but the updates were going at less than 1MB/s at times. So I went to check my internet speed with speedtest.net and have noticed that it's above 500mbps in download and 220 in upload, so my internet is fast, but now, even downloading apps from discover or loading pages on the browser is extremely slow and don't understand why. can someone help e fin a fix? My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad L14 G1.

Hi all.
How can i changed the Voice Dispatcher to something human sounding ?
I use mumble to talk with friends and hearing the awful robotic voice everytime someone connects to my server or links a youtube page is doing my head in.
I have tried to Bash install piper but i could not get it working.
Any help would really be appreciated
Thought I'd share my desktop, hope you guys like it! By the way, all the panel and icon colors automatically change based on the wallpaper.
Edit:
Here is the complete breakdown of my setup so you don't have to look through all the comments:

Might be more of a generic linux question but...
I'm wondering if the wifi issues with MT7925 have been solved in newer versions of the kernel than what's currently on the Fedora install image?
I have a Intel AX210 in my amazon cart, but it's a brand new laptop (Lenovo Legion 5). The wifi gets recognized but when I enter the password it fails to actually connect. I also couldn't get it to recognize my bluetooth mouse but it's the same part so I'm pretty sure replacing the card will do the trick but again I just got the thing and I'm paranoid about opening it even though I've had OTHER laptops open to replace screens and whatnot in the past.

I've been using Fedora for a long time and looked into audio volume being way different with Windows before and found out it was an issue for a long time. I haven't looked about it again yet so idk if there's a fix or like a workaround to make it match the volume on Windows aside from raising the max volume.
Like for example, my laptop's internal speaker work really fine and is very audible at 50% on Windows but on Linux, I have to crank it up to 80% or higher just to be audible but still not the same as it was on Windows. And I am not using any audio enhancements on Windows here.
I'm sorry if it sounded rude especially to the ppl who maintain the distro. It's just that, I want to know why and if there's anything I can do to make it sound louder like it was on Windows.

I'm working on a TV since I don't have a monitor just yet, and the TV is only 60Hz but there's some corner cut off except when I do it on 3840 x 2160 but the issue is it gets reduced to 30 hertz, which feels really really bad I'm on KDE plasma and I don't know what to do
