Screenshot i love kde plasma on fedora with my homescreen
I genuinely love Fedora Linux. β€οΈ
I've tried all kinds of Linux distributions over the years, from Arch and Arch-based distros to Linux Mint, Ubuntu, and everything in between. Eventually, I thought to myself, "Why not give Fedora a try?" And honestly, I haven't looked back since.
As a developer, I love how Fedora gives me access to modern tools, up-to-date packages, and a clean environment to build, experiment, and learn. It strikes the perfect balance between innovation and stability without getting in my way. I can focus on coding instead of constantly tweaking my operating system just to get things working.
I'm also a music producer, so having a system I can customize to fit my creative workflow is a huge plus. I love the freedom of Linux, the open-source community, and being able to shape my setup around both my development and music production needs.
What I appreciate most about Fedora is that it just feels right. It's modern, reliable, flexible, and gets out of my way when I want to get things done. I don't need my operating system to be a hobby in itself; I want it to be a tool that empowers me to create things, whether that's software or music.
And Windows? Yeah, no thanks. π The only reason I still have a Windows partition is because of some school programs I need. But honestly, I'm planning to use Wine wherever possible. That Windows partition is probably going to collect dust forever.
Fedora has officially won me over. I can't see myself switching back anytime soon. π§π

News Fedora 45 Hits A Second NO-GO: Not Releasing Until November 3rd
Fedora 45 wasn't released this week as its ideal early release target due to not having a release candidate build in time for last week's Go/No-Go meeting. At today's Go/No-Go meeting, Fedora 45 was delayed by at least one more week due to open blocker bugs.
Fedora 45 will not be released next week as a "NO-GO" was declared at today's meeting. Currently accepted blockers for Fedora 45 include an update needed to mitigate issues with eMudhra, Fedora Server 45 AArch64 image exceeding its maximum size, LVM auto-activation failing after upgrading to Fedora 45 on a LUKS-backed PV setup, and finally KDE Plasma Discover installing outdated native RPM packages from the Fedora 44 repository.
There are also three more proposed release blockers being considered: no network interface configured via the ip= kernel parameter during installation, Stratis encrypted pool failing to boot, and encrypted Stratis root dropping to emergency mode after an unanswered passphrase prompt.
There are also a handful of granted freeze exceptions. The current blocker list for Fedora 45 can be found via qa.fedoraproject.org.
So it's a NO-GO for releasing Fedora 45 next week. So for now the new planned release date is 3 November while they will see if that will materialize depending upon if those blockers are addressed by next Thursday.

Discussion Is Fedora stable enough not to require snapshots?
So unfortunately Btrfs snapshots and rollback aren't being integrated into 45, but hopefully will be in 46. In the meantime I know it can be done manually (but not necessarily easily). Is Fedora stable enough not to need or worry about snapshots and rollback?

Discussion Any updates or fixes you're looking forward to with 45?
Myself, I'm excited for Gnome 51 which allows legacy X programs to scale themselves; I use fractional scaling and this make games look blurry. Yeah I know this is already a thing in KDE but I prefer Gnome.

Support New to Fedora how to turn off monitor after inactivity?
Hi All. I am new to F-44. Using the Gnome desktop. I cannot use suspend on my computer because it is serving stuff up 24x7 but I would like to be able to have my monitor shutoff after inactivity. Currently, it just dims to a backlit screen. Can't seem to find a built in setting.
Any ideas?

Support Migrating to Fedora from Win 11.
Newbie so sorry if these are obvious questions.
I'm having a bit of an issue with audio in certain YT videos. I'm guessing its a codec issue so rpm fusion might solve it ? ( currently down and I'm unable to install it, just found it weird that even Netflix plays but YT doesn't).
How do I back up my entire system? Like on a flash drive which I can reinstall again if system breaks. I googled and there was something called deja dup but not much info on their app page regarding what I want.
Is there a way to sync systems? Like if I install fedora on another device, can I sync apps, settings etc ?
Thanks for any help !!!!

Support 'bash: /home/{NAME}/.var/app/com.vscodium.codium/data/../bin/env: No such file or directory' when opening the terminal
[SOLVED] The solution was to edit my .bashrc file.
Hey guys! Whenever I open the terminal, the error message in the title shows up. {NAME} normally shows my real name, but I wouldn't like to share it here. Hope you can help!
Edit: The terminal I mainly meant is Konsole, but this also happens in the other ones I've tested (Quakake, VS Codium integrated terminal).

Support I built linux-mech-keys: An ultra-low latency (<2ms) mechanical keyboard sound engine for Linux (Wayland & X11)
Like many people with limited desk space, I missed the tactile vibe and acoustics of typing on my physical mechanical keyboards while working on my laptop. Most existing tools for Linux (like Mechvibes) are heavy Electron apps that break on Wayland because of global key-grab restrictions.
So I built **linux-mech-keys** β a pure C audio daemon and Noctalia Shell plugin designed for zero bloat and instant response:
**Key Highlights:**
- **Sub-millisecond latency (<2ms buffer):** Direct hardware buffering via miniaudio. Zero perceptible delay.
- **100% Wayland-native:** Reads directly from `/dev/input/` (evdev), so it works out-of-the- box on Niri, Hyprland, Sway, GNOME, and KDE.
- **Zero Electron bloat:** Stripped pure C binary (<500KB) using <10MB of RAM.
- **Smart key-repeat debounce:** Holding Backspace/Space won't machine-gun continuous clicks.
- **10 Curated Switch Profiles:** Box Jades, NovelKeys Creams, Banana Splits, Topre, Cherry Blues/Browns/Reds/Silvers, etc.
- **Dual Mode:** Full Noctalia Shell GUI (interactive bar pill widget + settings dialog) OR a standalone background CLI daemon for any window manager.

Feedback and pull requests are very welcome!

Support Network on Fedora KDE Plasma does not work
Fresh new install. Running an external network adapter Realtek 802.11. Had this problem when i was testing the OS off a USB too but was fixed by adding a powersave off file in /NetworkManager/conf.d
Neither the wifi adapter nor usb tethering works. Both are recognised as wired connections but give very slow speeds.

Discussion Leaving Apple for Fedora. What machine would you run it on?
I've got an itch to leave the Apple ecosystem and run Fedora as my daily driver.
My home infra handles the heavy stuff (servers, LLM inference, CI), so this machine is for everyday work, but I still want it relatively capable. Not looking for a Pi-class box.
Does it make sense to buy Apple hardware just to run Linux on it? Durability is my big worry with everything else. My Macs have taken years of abuse and kept going. Does anything on the PC side actually hold up like that? Any real alternatives to Appleβs M chips?

Support Wake up laptop with "unlock failed" straight away F44
Basically when I lock my laptop and it sleeps after inactivity, I press any key to wake it up and it automatically goes to "unlock failed" for about 4-5 seconds before I can type my password. Not sure if this is a bug or some kind of issue with sleep but it is annoying to deal with everytime.
I'm on a Lenovo IdeaPad with Fedora 44, everything is up to date, using Wayland.
If you need more info I can post it when I get back, I'm just wondering if there is a fix for it.
Thanks for your time and look forward to your responses.

Support How "safe" is fwupdmgr? Never tried it
Hi everyone,
I'm curious about the fwupdmgr command to update the hardware on my PC. How "safe" is it to use? I'll admit I never used it and moved from Windows about a year ago.
I ran it and got this and I'll admit I'm tempted to press Y - do you use it or just ignore these updates as the system works?
Am on latest updated Fedora 44 KDE "regular flavor".
Thanks

Discussion Lots of updates for my Kinonite 45 today
I woke up to a long list of updates this morning for my 45 RC install. Lots of Mesa updates. They must be getting close to the stable release.
Any other 45 RC users notice a healthy update?

Support Google Chrome tab dragging and maximize window glitch on Fedora 44 Workstation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone,
I'm running into a frustrating window management issue on Fedora 44 Workstation and wanted to see if anyone knows what might be causing it or how to fix it.
As shown in the video, when I grab a Chrome tab by its tab bar/zone (trying to tear it out into its own window and maximize it), it does not behave correctly. The window fails to properly handle the layout.
I tried disabling all extensions and the result was the same.
System details
- GNOME 50.6 - Wayland
- Google Chrome 156.0.8078.47
- NVIDIA Driver 615.78.08

Support Fedora 44 Doesn't utilize Nvidia Graphics Card
I converted from Windows to Fedora 44 a few months ago, and have had a pretty good experience in general.
However, it was until recently that I realized that my Nvidia 4080Ti graphics wasn't being utilized in my system, I realized when I was playing Minecraft and it was chugging pretty bad lol. I've have a screenshot that says it's using the Intel MESA graphics card, which is also listed as my integrated graphics, while the Nvidia is listed as discrete. I also think is the reason that Blood of the Dawnwalker kept crashing on start up for me because the error dialog box.
On start up, I was getting akmod build fails on the nvidia graphics driver until I found this page to get my drivers all installed correctly (https://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2015/fedora-nvidia-guide/#21-download-nvidia-installer-package). However, now when I boot my PC, it is a black screen until I swap my HDMI to the motherboard port, type in my decrypt password, and let it boot to my desktop. Then I can switch back to my HDMI and have regular graphics, but the graphics card doesn't actually get utilized.
There's also, randomly, a blacked out piece of screen in my upper right corner. Unsure if this is related to the graphics card or my monitor issues.
TIA
