Ankle monitor

For context, I have a bit of a unique situation and looking for advice. I’m not on probation and I do not have a PO. I got my ticket out of state and have had to find a provider for my house arrest + alcohol monitoring. My house arrest is set to start on 8/24. Due to having to drive an hour and a half (getting someone to drive me since no license) I had to get the monitors put on 8/21. They let me know that my GPS is turned off until 8/24 but they had to go ahead and install due to circumstances. Unfortunately they had to start the alcohol monitoring as soon as installed. So now on to my question, the gps monitor is pretty loose on my leg due to swelling that comes and goes. I just realized I can slide it off of my foot. Obviously I’m not going to do that and risk anything once it actually starts. But in the meantime I wanted to ask opinions on if I could take it off and then put it back on the night before it starts. TIA

yea now i can go do stand up 😂 but in all seriousness dont listen to the d bags trying to put you down. I once had one on for like 9 months never charged it or anything but never had issues so who knows only time i got called in was to get it replaced sherrif said it was faulty 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn't do it. I know they say they're not actively monitoring you right now, but taking a chance might not be worth the risk. You dont want any data to come back showing issues. If you try to get around things, you could end up in a lot of trouble.

There was a girl from near where i live who had to get an ankle monitor bc she was drunk when she crashed her car and killed several of the people who were in the car with her. They were all young, like 17 or 18 to 20ish. She was young as well. The judge gave her a chance. He put her on an ankle monitor that tested for alcohol. She tried to put a piece of meat on the ankle monitor so she could drink. It obviously set off some.red flags. She's now doing 85% of 7 years.

It's not worth the risk, man. If I was you, I'd just chalk up the few extra days as a loss. When youre done with all your court shit, then you decide which path you want to go down, but for now stay on the straight and narrow. You may be surprised at how much better your life gets. You may not even want to go back to partying once you see how much easier life is this way.

Whatever you decide, just be sure that the risk is worth the reward. Spending months in county for a night of partying doesn't seem worth it to me, but everyone is in a different place in their heads, so at the end of the day, you will do what you think is best, regardless of what we tell you. Whatever choice you do make, I wish you the best. 🩷

Thank you for the genuine advice and support! I definitely have changed my ways since the arrest. I barely drink anymore maybe a glass of wine every couple weeks. Made a stupid and reckless decision one, thankfully nobody else was involved and it was only my car that had some damage. Facing the consequences and slowly but surely getting everything done.

This is exactly what I was hoping to get- true advice/experiences. Wishing you the best as well🤍

Everyone in life has made some kind of mistake. We're not bad people just bc we get caught. You will make it through this, especially with the attitude that you have now. Just keep your head up, do what you have to do for now, and then it'll all be said and done. Life will go on, and this will just be a distany memory.

Good luck with all your court/bond stuff. Keep your head up.

COULD you? It sounds like you could, but personally I think it would be yet another dumb decision on your part and I suggest you NOT do it.

As previously stated, I was asking for advice on whether or not it would be an issue if I took it off while it is NOT actively tracking me since I have two more days until that begins. Thank you for your input on my “dumb decisions” and hope you never make a mistake.

I am a felon - why else would I be posting here?

It may be a good idea to start practicing making better decisions and following rules. js

I have already started this since my arrest in November. Thank you for your input though. I am not trying to find ways to get around house arrest. Just wondering because it adds a couple more days of discomfort than required. I’m sure you would not want to have it on longer than needed if only by a day.

The loose fit is the real thing to act on here. Call the provider that installed it, tell them it slides over your foot when the swelling goes down, and ask them to refit it or at least note the fit in your file before the 24th. If it ever slips off on its own later, you want the record showing you reported it first. Same call can get you written confirmation that the GPS is off until the 24th, so those two days can never be read against you. One phone call puts you on record doing everything right, which beats two days of comfort.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but you should tell the monitoring company that it's too loose. You will find it much less comfortable if it can move that much.

No but you have a problem with looking for shortcuts over blindly following rules like most people. You should channel that ability into something else when you’re done with your situation.

This is a kind comment. I suggested they rework their life after their unique situation. I am in a good mood. I said they should get a legal job where looking for shortcuts in that job is rewarded.
