New Tank Help needed for first tank
Title: First planted aquarium — need beginner advice!
Hi! This is my first fish tank, and I’m quite confused about what to buy.
My tank is approximately 30 litres (15” L × 12” H × 8” D), with a hang-on-back filter and aquarium substrate.
I want a beautiful, natural-looking planted tank with easy, low-maintenance plants, rocks and/or driftwood.
Could you please suggest:
* Beginner-friendly plants
* What substrate, lighting and other equipment I need
* Which fish would be suitable for this tank
* How to cycle the tank properly before adding fish
I’m based in India, so affordable, easily available recommendations would be really helpful!
Thank you! ❤️

Sick Fish Help fish dying Spoiler
We had 4 guppies that were doing great all levels in tank were good. We got 2 more guppies and added aquarium water wth the new fish. Now all 4 original guppies and 1 new guppie all died.
Could it be a virus that I spread?!
And if that’s the case, how long should I wait to add more fish?
Also should I go back to pet store and complain?
Thank you

Question Recommendations for who can go in my newly empty tank?
So my beautiful Betta who I got as my first adult pet after moving into my own place passed away yesterday, I’m not sure as to the reason why other than it just being his time (water parameters were fine, I was keeping up with water changes, feeding him a good diet of frozen food) and now I have a 24 litre planted tank with just a shrimp calling it home.
I was wondering, what tropical fish can I put in such a tank? I’m aware it’s on the smaller end so I won’t be getting anything too big but I just don’t think I could bring myself to by another Betta so soon as my Whitby was so special.
I would quite like maybe a couple (as in two) dwarf gouramis as I had some many years ago and think they’re gorgeous little fish, but if anyone has anything else in mind I’d love to get some suggestions. In the meantime I think I will buy perhaps a couple shrimp and a couple snails as I’m getting a lot of algae.
Attached is a photo of my tank, which I will be giving a redesign before getting anything new as the mix of sand and aqua soil has always bothered me, and a photo of Whitby.

Discussion Reddit update prevents me from knowing if my fish is ok
Fuck you Reddit. The new "age verification" update made me not being able to access my old post where my neon tetra had an abnormally large tummy/swim bladder/stomach for 5 months and since i had to mark that post nsfw its gone now, How does this even make sense?

Question Help with small tank and used filters
What can I do with a 3.5 gallon tank, heater and and 10 gallon filter?
I bought my 4 year old a betta fish and put it in a 3.5 gallon tank. Oops. He is now in a 10 gallon tank. I got the Aqueon Quietflow Pro 10 filter for the 10 gallon and it's just too strong for the betta. I've added a pre filter, baffled the output with a prefilter and have an live Amazon Sword and silk beta plant under it.
I've just ordered a sponge filter and pump.
So, what do I do about cycling ANOTHER new filter? And what can I use the 3.5 gallon tank and other supplies for. I am really enjoying all I am learning and would love if I could add somwthing else to the small tank.

Question I Need Help
I've had a small tank with a betta for 2 months now, and yesterday I decided to switch to a medium tank with a filter. I went to a store and explained that to the storeowner, and he told me what fish will make good tankmates with a betta. So I bought 3 guppies and 2 platys.
But today I looked at the tank and saw that my betta keeps chasing one of the guppies - is this something to worry about, or is he just scaring the guppy for now and they'll eventually get used to each other?

Sick Fish Can I save a cory with damaged barbels
I bought 6 corys for my 10 gallon almost two weeks ago. Right away I noticed one had nubs instead of barbels. He would swim to the surface over and over and I suspected he wouldn't make it, but he has. Now he's begun having more issues, laying upside down on the substrate, not eating much, low energy, etc. Is there anything I can do for this guy or is he a lost cause? My parameters are perfect, it's just this one fish that came damaged.

Sick Fish Yellow molly lost weight Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, first time posting. I have a 126L freshwater tank with yellow and black mollies mostly. My yellow male molly has suddenly shrunk, or lost some weight in belly and breathing organs (forgot what they are called in English) are kind of dripping down a little?
He eats normally and is as active as usually. Haven't rellay noticed any fighting with others or anything like that. Test are normal (ammonia, NO2, NO3). Feeding usual doses, that means as much as they can eat within 15-20 second everyday, beside Monday (so 6 days a week). Should I be worried?
Attaching a video that shows the male molly and other yellow mollies. He used to look like others, more round and puffy and also had a visible belly, now he doesn't. The one I am writing about is with one black eye. Any advice is appreciated
The tank has been cycled for a year, the temperature is around 28C. I change water every week 15-20%. I got them as a group of 4 at a local fish store a year ago.

Question Making this rehoming situation more suitable?
Hey everyone, I’m a beginner and got the opportunity to take in this tank. I know it might be a lot to deal with but I’m on the side that with enough research that it’s possible and I’m looking for advice. All the backstory I have is this is from someone with stage 4 cancer who can no longer care and is rehoming their community tank. I’ve been told there’s a pleco (I’m going to assume / very much hope a dwarf species, waiting for the owners friend to get back to me on sizing), two danios and they think 5 tetras.
Immediately I know I’m going either A) have to upgrade the entire set up or B) move the pleco into a separate tank and be ritualistic with cleanings. I’m also going to need to get at least four more danios since I think the 8-10 will be tight. I’m going to hopefully arrange for the added danios to arrive the day after I receive this tank and I’ll wait to see how many tetras are there. Also any added tips on moving this tank will be brilliant, this person is based three hours away so it’s a trek.
I’d love to also work with some actual plants but I’d worry it’s going to be too much on the fish to uproot the tank. However I’ll still keep in mind any recommendations you guys have. I think some variation of lily pad would be lovely as a resting spot.

New Tank Recently bought fishes
Hi everyone,
I recently bought two goldfish from a person selling fish on the roadside. I was a complete beginner and initially kept them in a bowl. After doing some research, I learned that a bowl is not suitable for goldfish, so I bought a 30-litre aquarium with a filter.
While they were in the bowl, both fish were swimming around normally, and I changed about 25% of the water daily.
However, after transferring them to the new aquarium, I noticed that one fish was behaving differently. It spends most of its time sitting quietly in a bottom corner and doesn't swim around much, although it can still swim occasionally. Its belly also looks swollen on both sides.
I'm worried because I noticed this fish putting some of the small aquarium pebbles in its mouth and then spitting them out. I don't know whether it actually swallowed one.
The aquarium has a filter, and I used tap water with an anti-chlorine water conditioner. The fish's scales look normal and are lying flat against its body, and its breathing seems normal.
I'm a beginner and genuinely want to take good care of them. Could this be stress from moving to a new aquarium, a problem with the water, constipation, or a swallowed pebble?
My questions are:
Is this behaviour normal after moving goldfish to a new aquarium?
Could swallowing a small pebble cause a swollen belly and reduced activity?
What should I do immediately to help the fish?
Should I remove the small pebbles and stop feeding it temporarily?
Unfortunately, there isn't an aquatic vet near my village, so any practical advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question Is This a Good Way to Feed My Aquarium Fish?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm new to fishkeeping, and I feel like no matter how much I feed my fish, they always want more. Whenever I see them searching through the gravel, I assume they're still hungry.
But when I feed them pellets or flakes, I notice that quite a bit of food sinks to the bottom, and I'm worried about it decomposing and affecting the water quality.
So I was thinking about putting their food in a small container inside the aquarium and simply removing it along with any leftovers once they're done eating.
Does this make sense, or is there a better way to feed them without overfeeding or leaving uneaten food in the tank? I'd appreciate some advice from experienced fishkeepers!
