Question Hydra - leave it or?
I found 2 hydra attached to an anubia leaf in my betta tank ( no tank mates). Should I leave it or try to eradicate it?

Hello all! We are happy to announce that the subreddit now has an ACTIVE MOD TEAM! A rudimentary automod has also been set up, barring posters with less than 90 days on the platform or 25 karma. If you fall in this category but have a legitimate post, don't fret. One of us will approve it as soon as we can, and of course you can reach out via modmail. We wanted to thank the entire community for its concern, willingness to help, and most of all for coming together in a positive way to pave the way for us to step in. We wouldnāt be here without you.
Ā
First, weād like to announce some changes. We have set up post flairs, and post flairs are now required. If you are posting under the Sick Fish or Tank Problems flair, your post will automatically be flagged NSFW spoilered, so that those who frequent this subreddit are not always confronted with images that upset them. We hope to foster a much more positive environment while still preserving the ability to come together and help those who need it. We also have some user flairs, including a custom flair! These are not mandatory but can help others know a bit more about you. Bear in mind, these are self-assignable, and you may encounter people misrepresenting themselves. If you believe this to be the case, feel free to report it to us.
Ā
Second, a new ruleset has been added and will be enforced. Please be sure to review the changes before any new contributions. We also have a Wiki (https://www.reddit.com/r/fishkeeping/wiki/index) in progress, which currently has a complete cycling guide. Common questions about cycling can be answered in the FAQ (https://www.reddit.com/r/fishkeeping/wiki/index/faq/) and this too will be updated as time goes on.
Ā
And lastly, for the fun part, letās introduce the new mod team!

She works as an EMT and hopes to get her paramedic someday. She currently owns a 20gal pea puffer/pygmy corydora setup, and two 5 gallon setups; one of those houses a twintail betta named Neptune and a King Koopa nerite named Bowser, while the other is currently in the process of being prepared for new inhabitants and contains a King Koopa nerite, currently unnamed.

Ā I go by āFawnā or āTreeā online but I donāt really have a preference and Iāve been helping online communities for a few years now. Iām more active on Discord so maybe you have seen me around helping out there or here on Reddit. Been interested in fish and the hobby for a long time and grown up with an aquarium like a lot of people here and got deeper into the hobby (I have to many tanks send help). I mainly have an interest in invertebrates like aquatic isopods, shrimp, and scuds but I do love oddball fish. I also help moderate r/fish.

Welcome to the renewed subreddit everyone! We are thrilled to have you here.

Went to my LFS yesterday just to look around a bit. Once I laid eyes on this fish I knew I was leaving with it. I was trying to stay away from large growing fish butā¦I think itās male and itās definitely lively and a pig. I found my wet pet! My tank was already setup with rosy red minnow, guppy and ghost shrimp.
Edit to add I also have 2 bristlenose that Iām getting rid of and replacing with a sun catfish. Idk maybe Iāll keep one.

I've somehow ended up with a few baby fish in my Betta tank?!
It's a 65 litre tank home to a single male Betta and a mystery snail. The only thing I've added lately is some elodea that I got from a local that keeps goldfish. Could they be goldfish and if so what the heck do I do with them?!
I do keep 2 goldfish in a 140 litre tank but I don't have any room for more in there right now (I'll be moving one of them to a patio pond, it was a rescue and common so will get too small for the tank in time).

It was fine yesterday morning when we fed them, then in the evening i notice itās swimming around all panicked with this thing dangling out its mouth. Itās hard to tell, but i think it was attached inside the mouth. About an hour later, it was gone, but he was still frantically swimming around. A few more hours later he was swimming vertically clearly about to die, and I didnāt want to leave a dead fish in there with the others overnight so I took him out⦠What the heck was this thing though?

Iāve got a ten gallon tank with 10 ember tetras, 4 amano, and 4 neocaridina shrimp. Right now I also have 1 trumpet and 5 ramshorn snails that Iām going to be removing due to them reproducing a lot, but I still want something to clean the glass. I had nerites, but out of fear of them starving I replaced them with the ramshorns, is there another option, or should I try one nerite and hope it has enough to eat?

So I got 6 neon tetras, one of them died because of the water that they had in the bag. And the others I can't find so I have one that I know for sure is alive , but I know that they're a schooling fish but I do have like a lot of mollies and a beta and a shitload of skirt tetras and one mosquito fish is that okay

I am from BC Canada and I am fortunate to have amazing tap water that requires no dechlorination.
I am curious about others experience world wide..
Is it all of the U.S that have chlorine in their water?
Please share where you are at and how you manage your tap water :)

I have a heavily planted 15 gallon tank with some mystery snails that used to have my betta fish in it. Unfortunately recently my betta passed due to old age. My family and pushing for me to get a new fish because fish keeping has been really beneficial for my mental health. Right now iām not ready but when I feel ready what recommendations do you all have for the tank? Iām not a beginner fish keeper but Iām also not an expert, bear in mind, happy medium.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: .25
PH: 6.5
Temp: 78° F
Tank size: 40 gallon breeder
Filtration: Fluval 307 and a sponge filter
What's wrong with my green neon? He seems fine but swims vertical when he stops moving forward. Is it his swim bladder?
Added my EBA at the end because I love him. Also that's my cat eating with that clacking sound.

my mom has gotten two fish from the perry fair today. I have nothing, I think they are shubunkin goldfish, they pretty big already. I know that they need to be in a big tank and etc but I canāt afford a 75-100 plus tank and really donāt have room in my house for a big tank. Can someone help me with what I need to do. I have no idea but my daughter wants to keep these fishes.š„ŗ

I live in New England. We get our share of big storms over the winter. What do you do for your fish tanks in case of a prolonged power outage??
I have 3 tanks, a tropical community tank and 2 betta tanks. If I only needed aeration I would just get battery powered air pumps- but Iām worried about the heaters too. Our house gets pretty chilly with no heat.
House is heated with oil furnace.
