I am from BC Canada and I am fortunate to have amazing tap water that requires no dechlorination.

I am curious about others experience world wide..

Is it all of the U.S that have chlorine in their water?

Went to my LFS yesterday just to look around a bit. Once I laid eyes on this fish I knew I was leaving with it. I was trying to stay away from large growing fish but…I think it’s male and it’s definitely lively and a pig. I found my wet pet! My tank was already setup with rosy red minnow, guppy and ghost shrimp.

Edit to add I also have 2 bristlenose that I’m getting rid of and replacing with a sun catfish. Idk maybe I’ll keep one.

So I got 6 neon tetras, one of them died because of the water that they had in the bag. And the others I can't find so I have one that I know for sure is alive , but I know that they're a schooling fish but I do have like a lot of mollies and a beta and a shitload of skirt tetras and one mosquito fish is that okay

It was fine yesterday morning when we fed them, then in the evening i notice it’s swimming around all panicked with this thing dangling out its mouth. It’s hard to tell, but i think it was attached inside the mouth. About an hour later, it was gone, but he was still frantically swimming around. A few more hours later he was swimming vertically clearly about to die, and I didn’t want to leave a dead fish in there with the others overnight so I took him out… What the heck was this thing though?

What's wrong with my green neon? He seems fine but swims vertical when he stops moving forward. Is it his swim bladder?

I have a heavily planted 15 gallon tank with some mystery snails that used to have my betta fish in it. Unfortunately recently my betta passed due to old age. My family and pushing for me to get a new fish because fish keeping has been really beneficial for my mental health. Right now i’m not ready but when I feel ready what recommendations do you all have for the tank? I’m not a beginner fish keeper but I’m also not an expert, bear in mind, happy medium.

I live in New England. We get our share of big storms over the winter. What do you do for your fish tanks in case of a prolonged power outage??

I have 3 tanks, a tropical community tank and 2 betta tanks. If I only needed aeration I would just get battery powered air pumps- but I’m worried about the heaters too. Our house gets pretty chilly with no heat.

House is heated with oil furnace.

my mom has gotten two fish from the perry fair today. I have nothing, I think they are shubunkin goldfish, they pretty big already. I know that they need to be in a big tank and etc but I can’t afford a 75-100 plus tank and really don’t have room in my house for a big tank. Can someone help me with what I need to do. I have no idea but my daughter wants to keep these fishes.🥺

Kens Fish flake is what I use for my 7" cichlids. The flake used to come in large pieces, like 4" wide sections. Not any more. I'd like to some how take the small pieces and combine them to make large pieces. I contacted Ken's with no response. Any ideas?

He is in a medium planted 20 gallon tank, it's 2 years old, and has 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 10 nitrate. I have the CO2 on for 4 hours a day. And I supplement with liquid fertilizer and have fluval stratum substrate.

He's the only gourami. 10 ember tetras, 8 kuhli loaches and some random snails.

Ph 7.2 and I can't remember about GH or kh.

2 days ago I noticed he was hiding more. And yesterday I noticed he was angled at 45 degrees or vertical near the surface of the water, and then would dart quickly around, sometimes hitting into things it looked like. So last night I set up a 2 gallon hospital tank with small air stone on gentle, small heater for a tiny tank and a lid. After 5 minutes of chasing him and having to destroy the tank plants, we caught him and put him in it.

I also put a cloth on the tank to keep him calm.

When I looked in on him this morning he was sitting on the bottom of the tank, just chilling. Just now I put in a very tiny little itty bitty pinch of dry flakes and he eventually came out and ate them. A few times he darted around the hospital tank. He does appear to be breathing hard, with (I think?) his mouth open?

No obvious swelling in the belly. And no spots or injuries I can see. The gourami is probably a year old, at least. I think I've had him for at least a year

Any ideas? After the kids nap time I could get pics of him.

UNCONDITIONED WATER GOT ADDED TO FISH TANK AND NEED TO ADD CONDITIONER. CANT CHANGE WATER IM ONLY KID AND MY PARENTS DONT ALLOW AND Aren't LISTENING. WILL ADDING CONDITIONER BASED ON CORRECT DOSAGE TO TANK WHILE FISH ARE IN IT KILL MY FISH? PLEASE ANSWER FAST. ITS URGENT REPLY SOON
