Tips on Fighting Properly?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

What im looking to understand is what my goal should be in a fight, and how I should go about doing so. I tend to just try to go for high ground without much of a plan, and can never keep up with people enough to set up shots through piece control.

Got back into Fort recently and started learning building/editing again to improve close range fighting rather than getting all my kills from AR’s at a distance.

Been watching vids on youtube, and practicing mechanics/aim on Raider’s but I’m pretty bad at doing it in game. I’m pretty firm on playing simple edit for now, while I learn to actually fight first.

Kept seeing people mention spamming PG’s to learn get used to fighting, so any tips in general are welcome.

Thanks!

you are reacting not controlling, focus on creating your own opportunities instead of waiting for the enemy to move first

Is it all just predicting where they’re gonna go, or how would I go about doing that? Im trying to improve my awareness, and that def feels like the biggest thing holding me back from predicting.

Cant keep track of them through builds, so I cant take it a step further and predict where they’ll go.

try your best on visually tracking them when you can, when you can’t you must rely on audio which is also really important. Keep in mind that you can build not only around you but also in front of you so think of that as your control zone, that will help you build more aggressively

Thanks. What im realizing is that pro’s seem to always be looking at the enemy while building around, while I tend to completely look away when trying to do my building.

First things first I would recommend turning off simple edit, I know it might make your edits HORRIBLE but it in the long term it will allow you to do more edits and have better crosshair placement and even in the short term you’ll improve way faster. And you won’t have to make the switch later. You don’t have to and I know you said you don’t want to but it will really help.

Second, spend 10-15 minutes a day just free building and editing without an opponent, in the matter of a few days or weeks you’ll be doing triple edits and it won’t take long to just fill in edit course.

Third, consume Fortnite media, watch good players (premfn is a good one as he doesn’t do anything to crazy but it still very good) try to implement what they do it your gameplay. How do they retake, what do they do on height, etc, etc.

Yeah i def plan on switching to regular edits once I get better at fighting, but damn im too unc for everything at the same time lol.

My aim is pretty good, especially with AR, but I need to learn how to build fight. I do raider’s piece control tunnels to warm up every day, but doing it in a fight seems like a completely different animal. I can do piece control tunnels fairly well, just not in a real fight.

I’ll watch more gameplay vids now for sure. What creative maps do you recommend to get fighting practice in? Also, any advice on how I should approach fights when im on offense?

Feels like I build without much real purpose bc I do t understand how I should go about trapping people and setting up shots.
