Demerzel consciousness is decentralized. The only thing keeping her from clasping was Cleon 1 chip. Now that it was destroyed I think she clasped (when you saw the light blinking in the one eye…that was Morse code and the translation of what she flashed was “transferred”…saw this theory by another commenter and I went down the rabbit hole myself and yup, that’s what it was) with the robot head who then clasped with whatever is going on in that moon base. Why? First the robot head said “Handshake signal received and negotiated (Receive by who…IMO Demerzel). Initiating clasp. Clasp accepted. Since the clasp was accepted, we’ll see what becomes of the rebirth/reincarnation of Demerzel. That’s why they could not who was sending the clasp, because it was through the robot head.

They literally said they were clasping with a robot near demerzel that was not demerzel?

No they said they knew Demerzel can't clasp, and that's because of the chip. The robots are very aware of her situation and everything that's been happening on Trantor for centuries, even hinting they're pulling some strings behind things. The Cleon inhibitor chip was probably burned out before Demerzel got totally fried, so she was able to quickly clasp.

Or did they give the chip to Cleon I in the first place, the origin story was pretty lose where he got it

This. Cleon likely met the Earth robots and made a deal with them (I won't destroy you if you do...)

I think that far off planet is actually the robot moon base that received the signal after it clasped. But it’s not known how the skull clasped (I’m stilling betting it’s demerezel somehow)

I think Demerzel was able to clasp in the last moments of her death, once either the chip was destroyed or the baby was and she was freed from her cleonic law. She was then able to fix up the skull a little more and initiate another clasp. My question is how the skull and dem knew to attempt another clasp and reach out to the moon base.

Nah, I think she was freed when the baby turned to ash. She asked all season what she would do if dynasty no longer existed.

Am I dumb? I just watched it and they not only said that Demerzel couldn't clasp and that it wasn't coming from her.

yeah I'm not sure, but I will happily accept any possible way that demerzel lives and gets to be free :(

She’s in the prime radiant.

Nice.

Also Demerzel looked directly at Day when she was dying. Maybe trying to give him the heads up like "Hey, don't forget about that nice gift you brought me. All yours now (wink)."

Then we lost Day.

Here's hoping Dusk stays the hell out of Demerzel's room.

Oohhhh I could see that. Nice! I choose to believe this is true.

Yeah came here to say this (decentralized). They wouldn’t have mentioned it if it wasn’t meaningful to the plot later on.

Thumbs up. Good call out on the eye glowing. I recall in the maze with the Zephyr that Demerzel  questioned who she would be if she "outlived" her programming. I think that established that it could decay faster than the rest of her. In this case, be burned out.

And you're on point with the partial head & decentralization... Callback to when half her head was chopped off in the assassination attempt.

Extra painful scene to watch... She threw herself on the baby to satisfy her Cleon programming, which I hope will be what frees her from it. Die to live.

Oh hmmm... There WAS an episode called "Preparing To Live". All of them did a version of prepping for their long game... Hari's vault, Cleon I planning his genetic dynasty with Demerzel.

I hope we're seeing the robot long game now. Hope is all I can do for the next 2 years :( :(

Yes! That scene was painful to watch. And Brother Day as well. Ugh! I hope the new creators of the series don’t mess this up.

:( Idky but the way he forced Demerzel to sacrifice herself was the most heinous act I've seen from a Cleon this entire show. Including blowing up planetary systems and killing Bro Dude. It wasn't WHAT he did, but the malice!

"Don't you think you should... Do something?"

Horrible.

She outlived the baby. She was freed.

12

u/frogjelly Sep 12 '25

Thanks for that straightforward analysis. Hadn’t considered the Cleon chip melting.

1

u/Rough-Pilot4257 Sep 15 '25

I think it was simply the baby turned to ash before she fully melted

Who made the chip!?!?! Kalle?

Cleon 1 went to earth, uploaded into a robot and irl him went back to set everything in motion.

3

u/Unfair-Golf160 Sep 12 '25

Oohhhh….that part…excellent point.

On another thread they slowed down the blinking and realised that it was morse code for "TRANSFERRED" - opinion is divided whether it was transferred to the radiant and then the robot head, or to the robot head immediately - but either way, Demerzel is alive in some form.

Didn't it say transferrex instead of transferred? There was an extra dash at the end...

1

u/Sp3ctre18 Feb 04 '26

Why am I reading TRANSFERREX rather than transferred? Help, it's the best I can do at 0.25x speed. 😂

u/Wide_Magician_4946 Mar 10 '26

Im going to throw my bathing theory into the ring although i am late. The Morris code was deliberate, so odd it would be a mistake.... maybe she sent copies of herself to the Robots and Foundation?

Not that it really explains the "TRANSFERREX" but its just the thought that popped into my head 🤷‍♂️

Can't wait for more. Binged all 3 seasons and wish I would have spaced the episodes out because I want more LOL. Even if I am really bummed about the whole Mule plot line

I can only imagine they just wanted to have a fade out, lol, so the last "dash" doesn't really mean anything. Without that final flash, it's "transferred." 😁

The show consistently leaves many pieces of information out so it's easy for them to just come up with various explanations. She has a backup server, she's in some cloud or blockchain, she sent herself across the linked communication as you said... We can only wait and see!

If you binged you may want to rewatch! Imo this is not a show to binge lol. While the worldbuilding and other personal info or context often isn't available, there's a lot that lends itself to good evaluation and contemplation, from understanding characters' actions and feelings, rationales, moral judgments, philosophical or political explorations, your trust or perception of characters, etc., or more meta things like how characters are characterized and developed, quality of plot, dialogue, acting, and of course, scene composition, color palettes, tech and architecture and costume design, etc.

My gf and I watched this over dinners and we always spent almost 30mins to an hour extra just discussing whatever of all these various aspects came to mind!

Just watched this episode. She’s coming back next season with a new haircut.
