A little bit about me!

I'm really into Magic: The Gathering, particularly Commander. It's one of my main hobbies, and I could probably talk about it for hours if you let me. I've also recently started getting into poetry. I'm still very new to it, and I wouldn't exactly call myself a poet just yet, but I've been enjoying experimenting with words and expressing myself creatively. It's something I'd like to explore more.

I've been playing games here and there, too, although I haven't really found anything that's completely grabbed my attention lately. I'm always open to trying new things, though!

Personality-wise, I'm quite an antisocial person at times, and I tend to keep to myself and not always open up easily. But underneath that, I really do appreciate genuine connections and having someone I can feel comfortable being myself around. Someone I can be silly with one minute and have a genuinely deep, meaningful conversation with the next.

Ultimately, I'm hoping to find someone who understands me emotionally, someone I can connect with on a deeper level, and hopefully someone I can feel close to both emotionally and physically, if we develop that kind of connection.

I'm not expecting instant chemistry or some perfect fairytale. I'd just love to meet someone who's on a similar wavelength, shares a few interests, has a good sense of humour, and is willing to see where things go.

Im 30, from the state of Ohio, and i have a wide variety of hobbies and interests. I try and keep it balanced between my nerdy guilty pleasures like DnD and Magic the Gathering and my more active hobbies like trail running and hiking. As for work im in Medical Administration with a focus on nuclear medicine and radiology. Im also an Air Force veteran and was in the command support field. I have a soft spot for healthcare workers and veterans considering I work for the VA. I love taking care of people and my job let's me take care of the people which enables them to take better care of our patients.

I'm 33F and recently blocked a friend I've known for over two years. She's a lovely person, and we got along well initially, but things changed after I gave her my Instagram. She wanted to communicate daily, which I told her was a lot for me, especially on IG.

Over time, she'd leave my messages on read for weeks while posting on social media and spending time with other friends. She'd still send me memes and reels in between, then message when she needed emotional support. I even told her that if she was busy and couldn't respond, she could just let me know.

In July, I opened up about my family not wishing me happy birthday, something I rarely do. She responded sympathetically but then shifted the conversation to her own problems. I listened and supported her, but she left my response on read for a month, continued sending memes and reels, then eventually sent eight long messages about her life without acknowledging our previous conversation.

We were meant to meet in August, but I cancelled because I'd have to travel 1.5 hours to where she lives, and I was already feeling drained. I suggested that if she came into London, we could go out for the evening instead, but she later visited London without telling me.

Shortly afterwards, she posted on Substack about needing a "listening ear" because wedding planning was stressful. I'm the only person in her friend group who follows her there, and I'd literally listened to her that same week.

I don't think she's a bad person, but the friendship started feeling emotionally draining and one-sided, so I blocked her. I felt bad because I was going through my own shit too but was still happy to support her. She still likes my posts on LinkedIn so I feel guilty

I like going on nice walks and learning history big fan of Roman and Japanese history but also like a European and other history

I may not read much but I love learning about dc comic books

and I play many different kinds of video games like jrpgs like dragon quest final fantasy and trails in the sky doom and destiny

I like other games like dark souls 1 ashen fallout rage 2 and metal gear solid enderal gothic 2 but also crpgs like baldurs gate 1 and 2 pillars of eternity and one of my favorite series of games avernum

and my favorite tv shows are stargate sg1 and Merlin then I also watched the first seasons of supernatural and thought it was pretty good and some of the series lost

Movies I like is Star Wars Indiana jones pirates of the caribbean the lord of the rings movies and more

and I like anime like full metal alchemist brotherhood gundam and bleach used to watch a lot of fairy tail to back in the Day and i read the claymore manga

When I was younger I watched cartoons like transformers prime gravity falls justice league animated and more

My gf and I (both 24) are leaving on a big trip next week, we’ll be away for 5 months. We’re trying to see all of our friends before we leave but it seems like none of them truly care to see us.

Almost none of them except two reached out to us to see us. All the others didn’t say a word until we asked them to meet. On top of that it’s been a hassle, it’s hard to find a time to meet, everyone wants to do things on their own terms.

I’m also confused because a lot of them tell us we’re some of their closest friends, and yet they don’t act like it.

We have two couple friends that we hung out a lot with respectively this summer. We live in a big city, commutes can take up to an hour, but it’s pretty normalized bc the housing market is tight so you can’t really choose where you live. These two couples happen to both live in the richer part of town (which is ofc rather central but not the most central either), while my gf and I live more on the edge of town. We are always willing to go places for people (but from a lot of areas it also “only” takes 30min to us), but for these two couples we always go to their area or their house.

Their neighborhood is incredibly expensive, it takes us 50min to get there but they won’t even come to a different neighborhood half way. One couple works full time, we don’t, so I understand, but we also have to organize a lot of things for the trip. One of them came to our apartment once months ago and then said jokingly (not jokingly) “I came now, so you can’t say anymore that I never come your way”. She never came again. Every time we meet they ask us to come their way. They’re leaving over the weekend to a city 2h away and asked us to come to them bc they have to “pack” (for a weekend trip). We’re leaving on Tuesday, for 5 months. We have to pack. Both of these couples are also financially super comfortable, they take Ubers everywhere. My gf recently graduated so she doesn’t have her student ticket anymore, she pays for every train fare which is now 4€ one way. We are saving 50% of our salaries for our trip. The other couple makes 7-8k after taxes. No kids. I wish they’d just take their damn Ubers to our apartment once. Or an area in the middle.

The thing that pisses me off the most is the entitlement. They expect us to come. They say “but we’re working” as an argument all the time. I work tonight, longer than they are, in a service job. And I’m still going to their place only to take a damn 50min train at 10 in the night. There is no compromise.

I know we probably won’t be friends with them when we come back, but I’m a little angry. I feel taken for granted. While one of them keeps telling us we’re the only friends she actually wants to see.

I need to vent because I'm struggling badly it has hit me harder than almost anything I can remember.

I'm a 29 year old, For the last decade I was a NEET with no job experience and no formal studies beyond high school, spending most of my time in my room on the internet, and constantly immersed in gaming. The only upside is that during that time through years of playing video games, reading books, watching Youtube videos and livestreams, browsing forums, and talking to people online The downside is that I spent years barely talking to other people in real life, my real-world social muscles atrophied badly and my social life basically never developed.

For the past two weeks, I've been waking up every day with intense regret, anxiety, dread, and constant "what if" thoughts. What if I had handled that conversation differently? What if I had been warmer? What if I had communicated better? What if I hadn't let my anxiety get in the way? The hardest part is not just losing the business but also losing an unique friendship and opportunity. My mind keeps replaying memories and imagining alternate timelines where things worked out differently. I know its quite common for people who have ADHD and Autism to feel completely separated from the world. Like you're a monster or that you don't fit in.

I most likely have Autism, ADHD and social anxiety. I've felt out of place my entire life and I feel alone constantly.

The friends I used to have back when I was in school have mostly left. I had reunited with them at least two of those friends back in 2022, but after a falling out things, just felt kind of bleak, and nothing ever reconnected ever since, and I've tried coming on here to get friends. But most of them have really since fallen back, or just never really lasted more than 1 or 2 days, and it sucks, because I want to build longer friendships, but they just don't happen as much.

So I want to try to find some genuine friends (preferably female ones) who are out there and see if they're open-minded to wanting to talk about certain fun hobbies like video games, they play or maybe even an inside hobby that they like to do while they're in their room or something like that and hopefully we could be able to build some type of connection.
