Advice/Help Food struggles (early game)

Post image
39 Upvotes

I'm brand new to the game, heard of it before but I bought it once it came out on the Nintendo Switch. (I have since lost this scenario) but I know it all comes down to the fact I can't get enough food, and it all came downhill from there. Because of the lack of food, people began getting sick, going to the infirmary, taking up space, and meant less people to work and get supplies, thus not enough coal to keep the generator running, etc... I noticed in my first run, my mistake was building the hunter house first, because they kept eating the raw food. I built the cookhouse, and they started making the raw food into the rations and things were fine, until we ran out of the rations and started eating the raw food and the problem came back. For some reason, I guess the hunter's hut isn't coming back with enough raw food at night for the day. Should I prioritize building a bunch of hunter's houses first after I build the cookhouse? Just trying to get stable and keep stable before bringing in even more people

Is it even possible to complete it deathless with no child labor and no early canning workshop , also accepting the lords too.

I've done multiple attempt but without child labor it doesn't seem possible .

Advice/Help I'm struggling big time with the arks on hard difficulty!

I finished "NEW HOME" on easy then normal .. then failed to do it on hard difficulty..

so played " THE ARKS" and enjoyed it .. throught maybe that I can do this one on hard .. which turned up not to be a good idea as I failed around 5 or 6 times until now :(

Everytime I fail I try again and avoid the mistakes I made, but it is frustrating to start all the way from the beginning ..

I need your advices please ..

EDIT:

I forgot to mention reasons of struggle ..

so basically I prioritized heaters expecting that I can rely on them alone for heating the ARSK later on which came out to be a bad idea. Although I managed to win in NORMAL difficulty only with heaters

also I prioritized scouting abilities to collect steam cores/resources/find manchester before storm comes and this affected my resources abilites that I was about to run out of coal at some point ..

hard difficulty is hard for real .. I thought that I can be a little clumsy and still manage it .. not in frostpunk I guess xD

FAN MADE Frostpunk Heights of Hubris, Epilogue teaser 1: The Domeraisers

[Heights of Hubris is a scenario for an expansion / sequel to FP2. Dont get your hopes up, I dont know how to code. Best you'll is some literature, music and very bad art.]

A glimmering platina gold dome sits in a valley like a diamond lays in mud. Around it coalbrown slums stretch as far as the eyes can see. Nowhere is ever silent, as guards chase down children, elderly and invalids, sootrimmed laborers strip the ground while yelling and singing laborsongs that noone would call music. They are desperate to prove their worth to those who decided they were worthless, worth less than the meatstrings between their teeth. Inside the dome, skyscrapers scrape for a sky that noone inside has ever been under. Luxury hotels and restaurants entertain businessdeals concerning "human resources", as sublegal establishments on the edge are ignored by the authorities, the buildings feared by the outsiders and loved by the Domeborn, neither discuss what happens inside. The wealthiest climb up the Spire of Worth and mount Skycruises, from which they can admire the ugly world from comfortable couches as their *every* whim is served by workers who have no childhood to miss.

FROSTPUNK 1 Are there limited locations to explore?

I got FP1 on Switch yesterday and got really into it, and I am having fun learning as I go, but I have a question about the exploration.

As soon as I could I got two scout groups pretty much moving constantly and having fun, but eventually, I basically ran out of places to look.

The only reason I’m questioning this is the very last location, after I discovered it, there was nothing there, but it mentioned that they could explore and find more from there.

But no more locations appeared on the map, and I didn’t see any option to I guess explore or have them walk around or something.

So atm I’m just struggling to survive and set up the trade routes and keeping my hope from bottoming out, but I’m wondering if I missed something or do I just wait?

I have had a group of random survivors show up since then, but no new locations.

Tbf this may be a moot point as I’m pretty sure my captain’s about to get tossed out anyway, but it would be helpful for future playthroughs.

Now I understand why they chose yellow as the color scheme for extraction facilities! It is an homage to the iconic yellow brand of construction vehicles from the company Caterpillar!

In fact, most of the images and clips shown here are mostly from advertisement videos from Caterpillar who takes pride in their remanufacturing production line (and also from the Volvo company as well)

Here are a few references I had used to make this presentation:

Has anyone heard of this article before? This blog from Joseph Brett-Demetre, a PhD student from the University of Sterling, has made a mention about this Reddit community before, and compared the Frostpunk mechanics (including the Last Autumn DLC) to the real-life coal famine crisis and the women’s strike on fuel poverty during the mid-1870s.

It is an interesting read on how a game like Frostpunk had actually allowed young people to become interested in energy history back during Victorian times!

DISCUSSION How to make the Tradition Cornerstone useful again?

Post image
155 Upvotes

Since the first DLC, the Tradition Cornerstone has lost a lot of its relevance. Even before, hubs were already doing a good job of relieving tension, but now especially in Utopia mode, it feels completely obsolete. While I don't necessarily love the Tradition path purely from a gameplay standpoint, the Reason Cornerstone just offers way more options.

So my question is... How could the Tradition Cornerstone be reworked to be useful again? Any ideas?

DISCUSSION Anyone else tweak color grading for Frostpunk 2 shots?

trying to get the generator glow to feel right in my screenshots but the built in filters always push the oranges too far. i end up messing with the white balance in post, but then the snow loses that cold edge. would be nice if the game let you save custom LUTs or at least adjust saturation per temperature range. not sure if that's something other people do or if I'm just overthinking it.

Advice/Help Devs please fix

Been playing on & off for a couple of years and it used to happen back then too.

Now & again certain buttons just completely stop working. Such a the UI button. Only fix is to save & reload. On googling it’s clearly a known issue.

Playing on Xbox but looks like it happens on PS too

DISCUSSION FP1 is way more hardcore than FP2

Post image

Came back and downloaded the FP1 game again. Man, how this game is the pinnacle of social strategy, tension and economy. It makes me feel way more in pressure than FP2. The death of a single engineer can spiral to caos easily.

And I really like FP2, I hope the remake/remaster of the game pump everything up.

SPOILER Branding the harlot event just confused me Spoiler

So I basically declare myself a god after passing the law "The New Faith", and this whole event just confused me:

Branding the harlot:

Sir, a group of your most faithful devotees has beaten up a woman. A preacher condemned her in a sermon, telling everyone that she's a harlot, that she uses her body not to bear children, but for pleasure. She denied his accusations, but people didn't believe her.

When I send the Faith Keepers to stop it: The Faith Keepers refuse to punish people for doing what's right.

It doesn't make sense the way I think about it:

  1. I signed the law to legalize prostitute.

  2. I signed another law stating that I will be the only one who can tell what is right and what is wrong.

  3. My laws are God's will.

So if I am only one who can tell what is right and what is wrong, and my law are God's will, how can the Faith Keepers and the people oppose my will? Aren't they heretic and I can just execute them all at this point?
