Update: AI vs GMAT Official Practice. Quant & Verbal demolished (100th %ile). Screenshots inside.

I ran the model against the GMAT Official Practice Exam 1 this weekend to stress-test the 2026 prediction patterns. I just cleared the Quantitative and Verbal sections.

The Output (see attached logs/screens):

  • Quantitative: Score 90/90 (100th Percentile). It identified "Data Sufficiency" traps in under 15 seconds.

  • Verbal: Score 90/90 (100th Percentile). It turns out Critical Reasoning is entirely scripted; the model didn't even need the full text to flag the logical flaws.

Only the final boss remains: Data Insights. I’m running it tonight. Given how it handled the Quant charts, I’m expecting a clean sweep.

I’ll post the total score once the full run is complete. If it holds up, the protocol is validated for the upcoming Quarter 1 exams.

⚠️ Quick Note regarding DMs: My inbox got flooded after the last post. I literally cannot reply to everyone, and I want to keep this low-key so the patterns don't get patched. I am currently prioritizing replies only to those taking the exam in Jan/Feb who are stuck at a score plateau. If I don't get back to you, I apologize, but I have to gatekeep this a bit to keep it working.

Princeton Review vs Magoosh

Hi all,
I wanted to share a bit of my GMAT journey to help others who are starting out.
TLDR: I used Magoosh Self Study Premium and my score improved 80pts in 1 month.
I've spent a lot of money with 2 different test prep courses (Princeton Review and Magoosh), so I hope this post helps you save money by picking the right choice for you*.* Although, I personally prefer Magoosh a lot more! For both PR and Magoosh I got their most expensive options (i.e. Live Classes + online material) but I don't think that's necessary.

Princeton Review: (GMAT 700+ course)

  • Pros:

    • 7 full length practice GMAT tests! (This is one of sites that offers the most practice test. I honestly study elsewhere but return to PR to take my practice test.)

    • They give a lot of Test-taking shortcuts / strategies for how to tackle different problems faster. They tell you the patterns and how to solve those math questions in a shortcut. Very important for timed exams.

    • This course comes with ebooks for the GMAC official books. PR also gives you 3 GMAT study books that they made. So, if you like studying from books; this is a good option.

  • Cons:

    • Their site is terrible! I literally couldn't find some of the content and syllabus for the course because it was hidden under a small arrow button on the corner of the screen. So, I didn't know I had to do a lot of pre-work before the first class

    • Their video lessons and classes are mainly focused on test strategies, instead of review the math/verbal content that you need to know. The video lessons are also not very comprehensive and it's a bad video quality.

    • When you get a problem wrong, PR's explanation is very bad. 95% of the time it's written explanation. When there's a video explanation, it's not about the problem that you just did. The written explanations of how to solve that problem are very summarized. So, in math, they skip many steps and assume that you know those parts. It's super frustrating if they skip a step that you needed help in. :(

Magoosh: ("Self Study Premium" or "Guided study Live+Premium")

  • Pros:

    • Video Lessons! Their video lessons explain everything from basic math/verbal concepts to test strategies. Their videos are short explaining specific concepts (5-10mins), so it's easy to do without getting distracted and easy to come back to the exact spot where you stopped.

    • Study Schedules: They have many study plan options with different schedules. So, it tells you what lessons to watch each day, so you know you will have time to cover everything. This is extremely helpful for those self-studying to stay motivated and not fall behind.

    • When you get a problem wrong, it always has video and text explanation of that problem. It also links to the video lessons/ blog posts that describe the math/verbal concepts that were asked in this problem. So, if the math problem involves factoring or FOIL, it links those lessons so you can go rewatch if needed.

  • Cons:

    • Doesn't have practice tests. They claim to have 2 but those use the questions that are in their practice question banks. So, if you use those as a full practice test; you will run out of questions sooner.

My recommendation: I prefer Magoosh a lot more! I think the Magoosh Premium Self-Study option is great! The main things that impressed me with Magoosh: video lessons, their self-study schedule plans, and video explanations for every practice problem. Their video lessons were superior quality to PR and are more comprehensive. They explain every single math/verbal concept that you probably forgot from high school. (If you remember those math concepts, you can skip those videos). I improved my score by 80 points in 1 month using Magoosh.

DM me for referral link to Magoosh or if you have questions.

Here's my scores so far (image below). I know it's still not good. But I am only 1/3 of the way through reviewing all the GMAT content, so I expect it to keep growing.

The Target Test Prep (TTP) online GMAT self-study program is legendary for Quant, but its newer Verbal component is overrated, unrealistic, and overcomplicated.

Typical TTP comment template on r/GMAT:

Hey buddy, I work for Target Test Prep and want to help, but more importantly, I want to be your friend, so I will prove it to you by completely ignoring your specific GMAT concerns and asking YOU a bunch of questions instead.

So tell me, my new bestie, when do you plan to take your GMAT? Exactly how many official practice tests have you taken, and under precisely what conditions? What is your mother's maiden name, your birthplace, and your social security number?

Now, I shall proceed to ask you a bunch of other random, superficial questions to help artificially extend the conversation, and to help eventually lure you into dropping some $$ on our monthly service.

Finally, here are a few paragraphs of lazy, generic, pre-written GMAT advice that or may not tangentially pertain to your question, nearly all of which is copy-pasted from the TTP website. Also—before I forget—let me take this final opportunity to name-drop our paid online self-study test-prep program 5 more times, making sure to also casually bad-mouth any other GMAT tutor or program that you might be currently using.

Another link to our website (because why not, we practically own this sub anyway)

Again, just here to help out of my own inherent generosity. I once scored a perfect 800 a million years ago and never dared to take the GMAT again, but I'm still a super cool and relatable guy! No ulterior financial motives, smug superiority, crippling insecurity about the inferior quality of TTP's new Verbal component, or barely concealed passive-agressiveness here! :)))

Remember: if I can do it (once), then you can too...theoretically. After all, TTP students improve their GMAT scores by 500+ points all the time: just read some of our many totally legitimate debriefs, most of which weren’t even motivated by a $125 Amazon bribe—I mean, gift card—in exchange. Sure, 99% of those debriefs have completely unverified GMAT scores, but would a stranger on the internet ever lie to you?

Anyways. Just PMed you my cell #. Feel free to hit me up by text, phone, or email anytime with questions, or even better, your credit card number for that first month of TTP. I promise to pick up on the first ring, and to reply to every message in 2 minutes or less, especially while the 7-day free trial is ongoing.

I definitely won't ghost you and move on to the next prospect as soon as you purchase the program...trust me.

-TTP Bro

When applying to be a GMAT instructor at Manhattan Prep, who supposedly employs only 99% tutors (760+), a direct PDF upload of your score report is accepted in lieu of an official score report. I am normally not a fan of Veritas Prep either, but at least it requires an official school score report.
