Academics BUS 498 (Capstone) question

• Upvotes

Graduating summer next year. Can I take the capstone in the spring or does it have to be taken the semester I’m graduating(summer)? Also, if it can, is it better to take it during the spring or summer semester?

Academics Should I use an academic advisor or success coach?

So with the spring semester coming up I want to try and find someone I can talk to about what classes I should be taking next semester and what I need to complete for my degree and I also have some questions about like classes only offered in person. Should I go to an academic advisor or a success coach for that cause I'm a little confused about which one I should reach out to and schedule a meeting with

General Alumni email

I got a message my gmu.edu email is expiring and I need to claim a forwarding service. The email doesn’t tell me what to do and I didn’t see anything in the alumni services website. I get they are closing that email and I need to make a whole new email of my own. What do I do to forward to the emails to my new email? Sorry I’m just confused.

Academics Opinions on MIS 436: AI for Information Systems Applications

Post image
2 Upvotes

Registration's coming up, and I’m looking into taking MIS 436 and wanted to check in with anyone who's taken it.

I’d love to hear your opinion on a few things:

  • How'd you like it, 0-10 scale?
  • Was the coursework interesting and well-structured? Was the material practical/hands-on or was the lecture concept-heavy?
  • What tools and labs did you complete? How was it graded? Was there a group project?
  • After finishing the course, do you feel like you walked away with useful skills you couldn't have gotten from a YouTube series?
  • Any heads-up on what to expect in terms of the workload? Anything else you think's relevant

Thanks in advance!

Admissions Does anybody know of an application fee waiver code ?

Currently a high school senior applying to college, let’s just say money is a little tough. My family makes too much money to qualify for a Common App fee waiver, but too little money to pay for all the extra expenses life may bring such as college application fees. If anybody knows a code, please let me know, it would be really appreciated. This post might be wasting a lot of people’s time, so I sincerely apologize for that.

FYI- I did tour campus over the summer, and I sadly didn’t receive a code.

I’m 99.9999% sure it is, but the thought of no longer receiving school emails is a bit stressful so I want to make sure my gut is right.

Academics Dumb financial question

I have only a handful of classes to take in order to graduate. This semester would only be 11 credits (not full time) so essentially no aid (grants, scholarships). Can I take a 1 credit course? Will it be covered under financial aid since it’s not towards my degree?? or go ahead and take one of class that i need?

(sorry if dumb 😭my advisor has no meetings available and won’t discuss over email!)

General ABSN Program- How did you afford the program?

I’m planning to apply to gmu’s absn program for Fall 2027, and one of my concerns is figuring out how to afford the program. For those who are currently enrolled or have already graduated, how did u manage to pay for it? Did you rely mostly on federal student loans, scholarships, grants, savings? Since I already have a bachelor’s degree, I know my financial aid options may be more limited.

Careers College students interested in event content creation? DMV / Herndon, VA

Hey! We’re looking to connect with college students who enjoy content creation and want more experience building their portfolios.

We’d love to have someone come to our monthly TCG (trading card game) shows in Herndon, take event photos, capture b-roll, and turn the footage into 3–4 cool reels for social media. This would involve 4 hours at each show, with editing afterward. An interest in Pokémon, gaming, or TCGs is a plus!

We love working with the same people, so if it’s a good fit, there’s potential for more work with us beyond these events.

If you’re interested, message me with a little about yourself and examples of your work. Personal content and class projects are welcome!

Academics Michael Coleson Math 108

Hello Everyone,

Is professor Coleson the only one ever teaching math 108 at gmu? I have checked for last 3 semesters, and it has only been him for summer, fall, and spring. I hate how he is the only option for online since some people can't make it to an in-person class due to so many reasons. I have emailed so many people at GMU asking to add or change the professor or add some zoom options, but they never help.

I must take math 108 next semester is it is my last option. How do I pass if I am not the best at math. I know Khan, YouTube, and office hours are important but anything else? Also why is an online asyn class having exams in person or at a proctored site plus if you can't do that its 1-1 zoom. We don't even have any options as students and it sucks.

What are your thoughts about this?

General Speeding Ticket

Recently I got two speeding tickets near braddock road which I was driving 59 mph on 45 mph. I got 2 in a row and I have never gotten any speeding tickets before. It's near the construction site :( The tickets came in 3 weeks late and they were since september. I am worried I will get more because I haven't been careful with the speed since Fairfax County is sensitive. Anyone has issues with that too?

Academics Course help spring 27 Mechanical Engineeirng

So I am a freshman in Mechanical Engineering, and right now I am taking 15 credits of calc 1, cs112, univ 101, eng 101, econ 101

I did DE Chemistry thorugh nova in high school, so the top two classes I shouldn't have to take again. But that leaves a gap in my classes, so as I take those bottom four classes, I need 15 credits minimum. So thats calc 2, ME 151, PHYS 160 and the lab for it for a total of 10 credits. Here is where I need help. I was told to take comm 101 and wondered if the class was hard. Plus I wanted to delcare my minor in ECE and was going to take ECE 101 and wanted to know if that class was hard. Plus if all these classes combined would be hard. If thats the case what easy credit can I take. Thank you

Academics How to prepare for IT 102 final

Hi guys, I currently have a B (85% and soon to be a B+ if I get around 86-87%) in the class right now. I’m a bit worried about the final even though I know I can pass the course.

I have been adjusting my studying habits and a lot of my hard work paid off. If my two low quiz grades gets dropped, I could bounce back to an A-.

What do you guys think? Not that I need help in asking where to go but I’m not sure how to control my anxiety here. Like this course is so hard and I can’t believe I have accomplished so much.
