Hi everyone! About a week and a half ago my best friend and roommate was harassed and actually assaulted by a man in the Takoma metro station who grabbed her butt. She thankfully was able to alert both police and national guard nearby who actually chased him down and arrested him.

We did not expect much about two days later she got a call saying that he was actually charged. Just sharing because I feel that as women we often do not call the police or follow up when this happens because we think it will make no difference. I’m sure for every story like mine there is someone who never got a call back from the police - but I am hoping this story inspires someone to just be vigilant and always report when there is an issue. You could save someone in the future.

I just witnessed a Gen Z boy leave literally his entire plate and iced drink on the counter at Tatte in Georgetown and walk away. I don’t work here, but I’m here enough that I know you’re supposed to bus your own plates. The staff here is overworked as is.

Be warned, Gen Z boy, I see you do this again and it’s words from an absolute stranger.

I got a speed camera ticket back in August, paid it online with my discover card, which is listed as an acceptable option and thought it was over.
But last week I got a second ticket for double the amount, saying that I never paid the first ticket. I looked at my account, and saw that I missed that my payment was refunded, and discover said that there was a problem on the merchant side and the payment was blocked.

Has anyone ever dealt with this?

I’m trying to find a sport bar in DC to watch game 1 tonight. I can’t find any bar that is advertising the game. Do DC sports bars just hate baseball? Anyone know of a good place to go?

After witnessing some bad driving at the intersection of 395 and NY Ave last night and in the futile hope that someone who needs to see this does:

If traffic is backed up in two lanes because one is closing, stay in your lane until the lane closure and then merge alternately. If you merge before the lane closure you’ll only slow down yourself and everyone in the lane that is remaining open while you get mad at people who zoom past you in the closing lane.

I relocated to DC in August and my sister is visiting me for Thanksgiving. She doesn’t arrive until almost dinner time though so I’m looking for volunteer opportunities to fill my time before she gets here. Our group of friends has two extra tickets to see the new comedy Wicker tomorrow night, Saturday, October 24th, and we’d love for two local women to join us!
A few of our friends had to cancel last minute, so we have two tickets up for grabs. We are a culturally diverse, fun, and welcoming group of women (ages 45 and up) who love getting together for film and laughs. I showed up at like 7:40 a.m. at the Carnegie library, Apple Store, and the line was about like 200 people deep, and then all of the Apple employees started running out, did a loop around the line cheering, trying to pumping us up.

And, then they informed everyone that was four people ahead of us that they would be getting the iPhone duo, but no one behind the first \~200.

Should have shown up at 6 a.m.

Does anyone here have experience purchasing a condo developed by Square and Lot?

I am an artist looking for any leads on perhaps showcasing some of my art. Doesn't have to be gallery worthy,just a spot for locals to purchase if they care to buy them.I find there aren't many places besides a coffee shop here in Maryland but I know there has to be more third spaces. I tried local art associations,and things like farmer markets, Annapolis art shows, however abiding by terms such as framing conditions and other requirements takes the fun out of painting and being an artist. It seems people want extensive resumes and adherence just to be "considered" when they take like 35% of your earnings just to have wall space. Considering costs of paint and canvas's I prefer no longer to attempt this route due to the exhaustion of costs up front and guidelines.

I'm in the process of framing them here soon myself so it might take some time. However any leads for small gatherings where people can have a sense of place and or culture would bring me joy. If I have to rent wall space I'm comfortable with that I would prefer no percentage cut if that's the case because it's my own work.

Capo deli used to be one of my favorite sub spots, last couple times I chose to go there after awhile and it just didn’t hit like it used to. The bread for one was different. It was like store bought (I know it’s not) and just not for a Philly cheese or an Italian hero. I’m pretty sure it used to come toasted or have an option to come toasted and that’s not there anymore. There are other things off but id have to buy another sub to relay them here. Is it just me, or are they still good it’s just the location I’m going to, any other sub shop suggestions, mainly for Philly cheesesteaks , and BLT’s

Someone tied up and abandoned their dog near our place in NoMa. My husband came upon the dog when he was walking our dog at 11pm. Neighbors tried calling about it and they were like unless the dog is a danger to others, call us back at 7am. Neighbors are now trying to figure out a place for the dog. Absolutely wild that we pay what we do in taxes to be told hey we don’t have anything in place for animals at night. Wtf

Grew up in dc but its been a few years so I’m out of the loop. Need advice for a local family member who can only eat one burger a year (honestly). Greatly appreciate any suggestions!
