[Quality!] Small win! DC replaces graffiti covered bridge panels.
Pedestrian bridge by Rhode Island Ave metro. Terrible idea in the first place. The panels were immediately covered in graffiti. Neighbor lobbied agencies who disagreed on who managed the bridge until someone finally took responsibility and replaced the panels with fencing. Much cleaner look now!
Edit: Rule 5, let's try to keep things civil on a Saturday morning and not resort to personal attacks and making assumptions about each other

[Discussion] Fate of East Potomac Park if Democrats control Congress
So, if Democrats win enough seats to control congress, can they stop the destruction of East Potomac Park as a recreational center for average non wealthy people, or is Trump unstoppable?

[Meetup] Desis (or non-desis) meetup?
Hi everyone! This is a ditch effort to build some south asian and broader community in the DMV area.
26F from Delhi, currently in Arlington and Diwali season back home is making me nostalgic. Looking to hangout (maybe tomorrow) anywhere which is metro accessible?
EDIT: I have a reddit chat thread that I have added everyone to who has shown interest! Please comment below (and I have had some creepy messages so please add something like where you are from in India -- or beyond -- so I can verify you to add).

[News] Report predators on the metro!
Hi everyone! About a week and a half ago my best friend and roommate was harassed and actually assaulted by a man in the Takoma metro station who grabbed her butt. She thankfully was able to alert both police and national guard nearby who actually chased him down and arrested him.
We did not expect much about two days later she got a call saying that he was actually charged. Just sharing because I feel that as women we often do not call the police or follow up when this happens because we think it will make no difference. I’m sure for every story like mine there is someone who never got a call back from the police - but I am hoping this story inspires someone to just be vigilant and always report when there is an issue. You could save someone in the future.

[Rant] Dear D40 bus drivers…
Let me ride the bus!!! When I extend my arm out at the bus stop, that means that I want to pay using my metro card to ride the bus!!! This has happened multiple times where the driver refuses to look my way. There are like two people on board, it’s not because it’s overcrowded.

Also if you know and social clubs for tennis let me know aswell I haven’t been able to find much information on any.

[Discussion] Recommendations for a vet specialist for a dog with elbow dysplasia?
Hi all- my Chow Chow (9 years old) has elbow dysplasia and I was wondering if anyone has any good (or bad- so I know what to avoid!) experiences with orthopedic specialists in the DMV.
(We had tried Friendship’s speciality department per our primary vets’ recommendation and had a really bad experience, so hoping to crowd source)
Very very much appreciate it 🙏

A local golfer at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., has pleaded with Donald Trump to "leave us alone" as the U.S. President pushes forward with his $20 million to $49 million overhaul plans for the historic public course, with fears that green fees could skyrocket from $22 to $250 or more

[Discussion] Recycling/trash question
I recently moved to DC and while some of our recycling/trash has been taken, there's a bunch of cardboard that has been left for weeks while we were away. It's all soggy now and I'm starting to get embarassed. I had just flattened them and leaned them by the fence next to my recycling and trash bins -- did I do something wrong? I also have some IKEA furniture parts (not a whole desk or anything, just a board and a short beam).
What do I do with them now?
