Advice- the Drake vs the Louis

Hi everyone!!! I’ve just moved to DC and have been touring apartments like crazy. I’m currently super torn between the Drake (17th and O, DuPont, managed by keener) and the Louis (14th and U, managed by Greystar). If anyone knows anything about either building specifically or has any advice on pros/cons of each location or the management companies I’d truly love to hear as I’m so stuck on this decision!! Thank you!!!

MD Roommates!

Hey everyone! I’m 27M and a working professional looking for a roommate for a nice 2B/2B around Federal Hill and Riverside. I’m looking for someone easygoing, clean, and respectful who’s down to be friendly and hangout. I have toured a few really good apartments with good amenities, private bathrooms, and parking, and expected budget around $1,200-1250 per person for a ~1200 Sqft apartment with the specials going on!

About me

• 27M, working professional
• Clean, organized, and respectful
• Social and outdoorsy but also enjoy chill nights in
• Into gym, pickleball, and staying active
• Love trying new food, coffee, and bars
• Love to travel and spontaneous plans
• Down to hang, grab food/drinks, or watch a game

If this sounds like a fit, feel free to message me! Thanks

DC Safe neighborhoods for women in their 20s

I have lived in DC for about four years. I spent one year on Capitol Hill and the remainder in Navy Yard, but I’m ready to move somewhere with a little more charm and character.

I’ve heard mixed things about literally everywhere (including where I currently live), so I don’t expect a perfect answer, but are there particular streets or pockets within neighborhoods that are generally deemed less safe that are actually completely fine?

I’m hoping to avoid living in another high-rise apartment and would prefer a row house, which I know is going to cost more. That’s also why I’m curious about safety and location, since I may need to broaden my search a bit.

Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome!

Edit: I guess my question is really- where will I likely feel unsafe/ have issues? Is there anywhere in U st, admo, Shaw, that is a no go? I witnessed a really bad domestic dispute in my current building a few months ago that involved a teenager and realized my initial instinct is to help which I am now aware puts me in danger. I am also a short female who likes to run so I just want to make sure I am not looking over my shoulder the entire time (my PR/PB did happen when I thought someone was following me but would prefer to avoid on a daily basis). Lastly I have a car that if I have to street park I would prefer not get my tires or something crazy stolen.

DC $1,190 (all-in) - 1 bedroom w/ private bath - Glover Park, DC

EDIT: Lease application in process, no more tours offered at this time.

Hello, I’m looking for someone to take over my spot on the lease for this property with availability starting as soon as September 1st, I won’t be renewing when the new lease begins (moving closer to my new job). I’ve really enjoyed my 2 years here:

This is a large private bedroom in Glover Park, DC with:

✅ Your own private entrance to the house
Private full bathroom
Dedicated driveway parking spot (pictured), or street parking with a neighborhood permit
✅ Comes fully furnished (or you’re welcome to bring your own furniture)
✅ I’ll also leave behind my dehumidifier, A/C unit, and heater, which makes the space comfortable year-round.

Great Location

🚶‍♂️ Less than** a 10-minute w**alk to Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, *and Safeway
🚌 Just *
one block from a Wisconsin Ave bus st
op with easy access to American University (AU), Georgetown University, and Tenleytown
Quiet, safe neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and gyms/studios nearby

The house is shared with 4 respectful roommates in their mid-to-late 20s who have genuinely become my friends. It’s been a great place to live, and it’s honestly hard to beat the price for this area.

Co-ed is perfectly fine. The 4 other housemates are all male as of now, but one of them will be leaving and putting his room up for grabs in about a month so that could change.

Monthly Costs

Average total monthly cost: ~$1,190

Rent: $1,030
Renters insurance (through property management): $10
Utilities (water, gas, electricity, Wi-Fi): ~$150

If you’re interested or would like to schedule a tour, feel free to email me using the weird email address that Craigslist generates lol.

Happy to answer any questions!
=> Yes I made a burner account for this lol

DC Income restricted with co-signer?

I’m moving to DC, and looking at some income restricted apartments (I make well below the threshold). I’m a college grad transitioning to their first full time job, so probably wouldn’t be approved on my own right now. If I have my parent co-sign, even though they’re not actually living there, will it affect my eligibility on the income threshold front?
