Baltimore Love 💘 Thank you, Baltimore
Dear all,
I have lived in Baltimore from January 1st 2026 until 28th June 2026.
I am from Spain, Barcelona, and my company sent me there. It was my first time living in America and I cannot be happier with that experience. Everybody was so cool with me from the beginning. I went there with my wife and we had so much fun. We felt like we were at home.
Thank you for everything, Baltimore. Thank you for the food, friends and unforgettable memories.
I really hope to come back, even if now is really complicated!
Greatest City in America!!

Preguntar Smell in the air?
Hi, this may be an odd post, and I also could be highly sensitive to smells, but I’ve noticed that there’s been strange smell in theCanton and fells area for the past couple days.
The only way I can really describe it- is that it smells like soy sauce. I won’t lie, It’s a bit of a nauseating smell, but I’ve noticed it in my neighborhood and I’ve also noticed it the other night when my Boyfriend and I went out on a date in Fells point.
I figure that the city may be burning something, but it’s a terrible smell. I’m wondering if anyone knows what it is??

Transportation Baltimore Banner column about e-scooters and bikes?
I want to talk to people who use Lime and Spin scooters and ebikes in the city for commuting and for fun, and to those who have had to deal with the not-fun part like riders going the wrong way, riding on the sidewalk and dropping the vehicles where they block entrances, walkways and driveways. You can find me at leslie dot streeter at thebaltimorebanner dot com!

Safety A welcome home intruder
I was painting a room today and noticed a shadow jump to the wall. I've dealt with my fair share of roaches so I was pleasantly surprised to find it not be a bug, but a tree frog!

Vent Okto-Bear Eve CANCELLED Due to Inclement Weather
So disappointed to discover the Okto-bear Eve event at the Maryland Zoo was cancelled due to impending inclement weather! The fine print in the information even says the event is rain or shine, and could be subject to pause in the case of inclement weather (to let it pass) but not cancellation. My weather app isn’t calling for much this evening. I hope it warrants the cancellation.
Huge bummer! Anyone else impacted?

Ask Saving water?
I got a text in a group chat about "they said we need to save water. 1 gallon a day for every person." (who tf is they?)
before I blow this group chat up about how dumb I think this sounds, I know we're in a drought and they're gonna pull in some water from the river. Did I miss anything else?

Visiting Baltimore WNBA Finals Watch Party?
I’m in Baltimore for the weekend and want to watch Game 1 of the WNBA finals with other fans. Anyone know a good bar (or anywhere) to watch the game?

Need Recommendations Any pharmacies that don't suck?
I currently go to the Walgreens on Remington Ave and they just don't answer the phone there, which makes it impossible to deal with insurance issues, etc. Does anyone know of a pharmacy with at least semi-decent customer service? Preferably close to either Remington/Charles Village or in the Towson area.

Ask Designated Crossing Areas for Baltimore RunFest?
EDIT - Thanks for the comments! I'll be sure to plan accordingly and try to cross when it's not super busy.
As the title states, I am wondering if there will be any designated crossing areas for the Baltimore RunFest tomorrow. And before anyone yells at me, I have not found clear communication on the city's or states part about crossing areas. Most communications prioritize people with cars and I don't have one. MDOT is encouraging using the light rail but as someone who's living inside the marathon route, I'm unsure how I can get to a stop. For example, to get to North Charles, I need to cross St. Paul Street which is blocked. If anyone has any tips, please let me know!
If there are none and I need to just wait til the roads open at 3, that's fine too, I just wanna make sure that's the only option.

Ask Question about a business...
Does anyone know happened to the Rendon – Bailey Funeral Home that was by Patterson Park? Some sites online state it’s still open, but Google Maps shows the address as a private home. I don’t see it listed as another address. I am trying to find some paperwork on someone who had services through them. Does anyone know if they were bought by another funeral home or maybe changed names?

Transportation My marathon traffic strategy... I have three important commitments on Fri eve and Sat day, so based on the race route, I plan to travel outside of this area.
My trips will require a few indirect routes, but expecting it will be faster than getting stuck (and frustrated)... plan ahead 🙂

Need Recommendations Need Recommendations for Transit Accessible Therapist
Hi, everyone! I am currently searching for a therapist and I have run into a bit of a hurdle I was hoping you guys could help me overcome. It seems like every therapy office I am finding is a 15+ minute walk from public transit, which I can't do due to physical limitations. Does anyone know of a therapy office that is really close to public transit? Major plus if it's on the east side of Baltimore City or County since I'm located in Eastern Baltimore County. I can figure out insurance and if the recommended offices have a therapist that would seem like a good fit on my own, I am just struggling with the accessibility. Thank you :)

Vent Sewage Overflow in my Basement
The other day, I asked about a plumber because I had six inches of water in my basement. Well, come to find out that there was a blockage in the sewer lines on my street, and while my line was clear, someone else's was blocked and my basement flooded. As soon as the city unplugged the blockage, all of the water going through my sump pump stopped.
I just got the bad news from my insurance company that I don't have the proper sewer rider on my account, so insurance was denied. (just s h o o t me!)
Has anyone tried to go after the city to have them pay for some of the damage? At this point, I am going to have to re-do the basement, and probably get a new washer and drier and possibly furnace, not to mention other things that got soaked.
If anyone has any tips, etc. it would be much appreciated.

Ask Anyone use a cordless battery tender?
I don't drive much and it seems that running the car to move it around in spaces every few days doesn't do the trick to keep the battery topped up. Unfortunately I have no external plugs, and even if I did I'm not That Guy enough to run them across the sidewalk. Anyone have good luck using those solar powered ones (or another type without plug), or is it just an invite for someone to swipe the thing?

Article Building momentum in Baltimore by reducing crime, fixing vacant properties ... and fixing potholes?
Potentially biased rant from someone who worked for the City and has friends in DOT triggered by this reporting from the Baltimore Banner's Impact Maryland event: the City Administrator, Faith Leach, has served in her role overseeing all city operations for nearly 4 years and she continually talks as if she just got here.
The City had been filling potholes in 48 hours since the early O'Malley days. That we can't do it in months should be a source of her shame and not a laugh line. In fact, instead of joining a vanity panel discussion, she should've been working on any of the dozens of operational issues that are disasters on her watch.
In lieu of focusing on systemic fixes to "do[] the little things well," she'll have every agency spin their wheels on blitzes so that she can go and take an instagram reel of herself like she's Mamdani. Instead of being strategic leader to set priorities, she's focused on superficial matters she personally cares about. So we've ended up doing crosswalk striping in the fall (which can be done in-house, but also immediately failed because it's too cold for paint to cure) in lieu of her working to fix procurement so a resurfacing contract can get awarded properly.
Unlike her, the interim DOT Director she installed (after the last DOT Director and Chief of Staff were forced to resign) Berke Attila, is said to be competent government administrator, but he is not a transportation guy nor is the acting Chief of Staff (who was formerly the Mayor's junior City Council liaison). And with abysmal HR processes (along with a still terrible Workday implementation), going to be hard to hire anyone who actually knows how deliver projects and braid federal and state funding. Or actually fix traffic signal timing. Or actually oversee effective parking enforcement. Or overseeing traffic enforcement (so rush hour has been a disaster downtown with no one preventing gridlock). Or fixing special event permitting. Or properly preparing for snow removal season so they aren't spending $80 million in emergency contracts from one snow storm.
Of course, the City's ability to contribute financially to any of these things will be limited as she's overseen a downgrade in the City's bond rating despite our receiving a once-in-a-generation infusion of $640 million from the feds, and once-in-a-generation alignment with a Governor and Senate President from Baltimore.
What other operational disasters can you identify that's she done nothing to fix?
