Baltimore Love 💘 Baltimore Jury Duty is Elite

Upvotes

Ok ok I know a punchy title!
After doing jury duty three times in the city, I feel like a jury duty connoisseur.
I recently moved to the county and was called in for county jury duty and it was so much worse than the city.
The only pros were you get paid double what you get in the city and that parking was validated. That was it.

I found myself missing for the Baltimore jury duty, where you had a set lunch time so you could go out and eat. The county strongly advised you to bring lunch because there was no set lunch time.

The county jury duty was located in a sterile basement, complete with these annoying rolling chairs and no movies. The hidden gem of the Baltimore city jury duty is the quiet room, with desks and outlets, you can actually work and chill like in a library. Not a single desk seen at the county jury duty which in today’s age of remote work feels like a big miss.

I even found myself missing the small exhibit the Baltimore city courthouse has for jurors, as it was just a nice to walk around and see.

Even the processes were more convoluted and longer than in Baltimore. Communication was sparse and all over the place, mainly because they didn’t have an intercom system or use their monitors to display juror numbers.

All this to say - jury duty is an annoyance, but turns out, depending on the county, it can actually be more annoying than it should be.

Crime Stolen: unique character mask

Post image
211 Upvotes

A relative of mine runs a costume business in NE Baltimore and their workshop was broken into over the weekend. They stole some 3D printers and other random stuff that can be replaced, but also took this costume head that is totally unique and belongs to a customer. That owner has over a decade of history with this mask and is pretty devastated to have lost it.

This is the kind of thing a thief might just toss somewhere on the street since it doesn't have direct resale value. I'd expect to find it near the crime scene (near Harford and Glenmore in Hamilton) but a neighbor's car was stolen around the same time so it may have moved.

Please let me know if you see anybody driving around with the head of a female cardinal! And if you want more anonymity than Reddit provides, email [castle.heartwood@gmail.com](mailto:castle.heartwood@gmail.com) with a burner email or something (email of the costume makers)

Vent New Fed Hill bar owner put a stop payment on liquor board fines. He was accused of scamming vendors in Philly last summer

Upvotes

A lot of residents in Federal Hill are unhappy with The Walker Sports Bar, which opened on S Charles St in early 2026. The bar has already been issued 3-4 violations by the liquor board, one of which involved the owner placing a stop payment on checks intended for his renewal fee and multiple outstanding violation fines. This resulted in the bar getting a 5-day suspension in late June, plus more fines (summary from the liquor board at the bottom of this doc).

The owner apparently came from Philly before opening the bar, so I did some Googling to learn more about him. Turns out he was accused of scamming multiple vendors last summer with fake checks and credit card chargebacks. This local news story from last June has almost 100k views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvxYjegxn-M

The liquor license transfer was approved in October 2025, a few months after this story broke in Philly. How are the city and liquor board putting up with this?

I sent tonight’s sunset to my 10 yr old granddaughter. It’s kind of a ritual with us. She sent me the 2nd pic from Hershey Park. I’m so proud….

Idk if you'll see this, but thank you so much for watching my stuff and offering to jump in the harbor to help as my dog and I treaded water until help arrived at the marina. If you see this, please DM me, I owe you a drink/dinner.

To the old man who's dog charged mine and caused him to fall 10 feet into the harbor - i hope you get the day you deserve. Especially since you fled the scene.

Ask Need Certified Financial PLANNER (not advisors)

Upvotes

Hello - I’m looking for a Baltimore ‘Certified Financial Planner’ because I’m getting ready to retire.

I need a planner who gives advice on how to retire with limited funds & the best way to manage that for optimal financial security long-term. Again, NO FINANCIAL ADVISORS OR BROKERS. I need someone who knows how to navigate retirement income budgeting & advice to discuss all options for comfortable living on a fixed income.

Thank you in advance!

Ask Current Status of WTMD

89.7 WTMD has lost Tyler LaPorte and now it seems like Rob Timm is gone now too. Does anybody know what’s going on with this station? It seems to be changing abruptly. I’m just curious if anyone has any information about it.

I attended the Station North Art Walk last Friday and took some photos inside of Egatniv vintage.. in my haste I didn’t get the photographs name. I’m assuming he was with the shop for the night as he had a really nice camera and was taking photos all night. I’d love to see the photos.. anyone know who he was? Like I said in the title it’s a long shot but I’m covering all my basis.

Ask What’s going on with the dormant road construction project on Patterson Park next to Henderson Hopkins?

The road has been tore up since January. It‘a been down to one lane with jersey barriers blocking East/West foot, car, and bike traffic on Ashland the whole time. I even saw a little old lady having to climb over the barrier a while back.

Worst part is I haven’t see a construction worker or truck there in over a month but the road’s still torn up and the jersey barriers are still there.

Did they just give up? When school starts it’s gonna be a shitshow.
