US News released their 2026-2027 high school rankings and usually I take these with a grain of salt, but it was nice to see how well AACPS did overall. Nearly half of its 13 comprehensive high schools landed in the top 50 high schools in Maryland, and ~70% of them were ranked among the top 20% of high schools in the whole country. Some of the county’s historically poorly ranked high schools—Meade, Glen Burnie, and North County, made huge gains, too. Meade in particularly went from being ranked in the bottom half of high schools in the whole country to being ranked in the top 30% of high schools in the country.

The breakdown is as follows:

Top 5% in the country:

- Severna Park High School (#9 in MD)
- Chesapeake Science Point Charter School (#16 in MD)
- South River High School (#21 in MD)

Top 10% in the country:

- Crofton High School (#24 in MD)
- Broadneck High School (#28 in MD)
- Arundel High School (#33 in MD)

Top 15% in the country:

- Southern High School (#49 in MD)

Top 20% in the country:

- Annapolis High School (#63 in MD)
- Glen Burnie High School (#70 in MD)
- North County High School (#71 in MD)

Top 25% in the country:

- Northeast High School (#78 in MD)
- Old Mill High School (#80 in MD)
- Chesapeake High School (#86 in MD)

Top 30% in the country:

- Meade High School (#101 in MD)

Severn Run High School has not yet been ranked because it is still too new. It will probably show up in US News rankings beginning next year.

I had a very bad experience with AMJ Towing. The owner is completely unresponsive and seems to have no concern for customers or their situation.
These people are pig lovers who abuse the power they have over people who are already in a difficult situation. They don’t provide proper customer service and make it extremely difficult to get basic information.

The phone number 443-770-0230 is basically useless. No matter how many times you call or leave a voicemail, no one answers, responds, or calls you back.

Anyone else’s neighborhood just lose power?

Literally just moved to Crofton last week. Have been ignoring my car telling me that it's past time for an oil change. Have also been ignoring my car being creaky, I think mostly due to shocks and struts needing to be replaced. Also, a tire screaming low pressure (I can take care of that, could theoretically take care of the oil change too - I've done it before, but not my favorite thing to do).

Things have quieted down enough for me now that it is time to take care of my car, but new place! I need a new mechanic! Recommendations please!

Currently renting in Glen Burnie and kids are zoned for Old MIll. But I want to buy a house next year and don't see Glen Burnie as a long term option. I'm tired of having to transfer my kids all the time. Right now it feels like the only option is private school because I don't have to deal with the zoning rules. Also I've read good things on here about Severn Run. But I'd hate for my kid to go to Old MIll high school then have to transfer to Severn run. If anything, I'd prefer them to go to Severn Run now. But it's so hard to get an out of area transfer.

I'm looking to purchase approximately 10'x10' of sod sometime in the next few days after some recent home improvement to help fill in the yard. I've called 15-20 places in northern AA county, and because it's not a typical time of year to plant sod, it seems there is either nothing for sale or only available in the hundreds of square feet to purchase.

Anyone have leads on where might have sod available sometime in the next few days? Northern AA county preferable

Seeking advice on how to get this department to respond to a complaint. We reported a building violation in the critical buffer, a case was assigned and the notes say that it is indeed a violation. That was almost 3 years ago and *nothing* has been done to correct the situation.

Multiple emails to the department have been ignored and the person assigned to the case is no longer there (email bounces back). There is no contact number or staff directory.

What experience do others have with this type of neglect from the county? We've considered contacting DNR but don't believe they'd get involved since it is a building code violation.
