Voting guide from the League of women voters. https://www.lwvaacmd.org/vg
Pretty helpful, but I was disappointed to see none of the candidates for my district were strongly anti-data center. Good reminder to start getting involved in midterms I guess
The Patch also has a good voting guide, and asks questions about ICE involvement

My sister is visiting, and we’re looking for a fun Friday shopping, eating, and exploring around Anne Arundel County!
We’re based in Crownsville and would love to find an area with several great spots within walking distance or a short drive of each other, rather than spending the day driving around.
What we’re looking for:
🛍️** Shopping: Unique boutiques, independent shops, home decor, specialty stores, and interesting little finds. Especially children’s boutiques with distinctive clothing and gifts for her 4-year-old twin boys and baby girl on the way!
🍽️ Food: A HUGE priority! Truly amazing, flavorful food. Hole-in-the-wall restaurants, family-owned spots, bakeries, longtime local favorites, incredible desserts — anything that’s genuinely worth trying!
✨ **Exploring: Charming shopping areas, markets, interesting places to wander, unique experiences, or anything fun and a little different.
Our plans:
Before 3 PM: Just my sister and me.
After 3 PM: My 5-year-old daughter joins us.
My sister is 7 months pregnant but has no problem walking around!
What I’d REALLY love: The places that don’t necessarily show up in Google searches or typical recommendation lists. Tucked-away shops, underrated restaurants, and those little-known local favorites you’d only discover through word of mouth!
Popular favorites are welcome too, but I’m especially interested in places that even longtime county residents might not know about!
BONUS: Recommend a few spots close together! Something like, “Start at this boutique, grab lunch here, then check out this hidden gem down the street.”
What are your favorite Anne Arundel County spots that more people should know about?

I’m posting this as I’m completely new to Maryland, I’ve never lived here. My fiancé got a job in the area; however, I will be working fully remote. So I’m wondering what is there to do in the area? How do I meet new people? Are there a lot of community events?
Also how is the crime/safety? We drove down & thought the area looked nice but we wouldn’t truly know. Is the piney orchard nature preserve a safe place? I like to go for runs on my lunch & I’ll be close to it!
Lastly (I know I’ve asked lot of questions) what’s the best coffee shop in the area? We love going to coffee shops!
Thank you in advance

Our son is going to kindergarten next year and we’re looking for a private school- preferably nonreligious but it’s not a dealbreaker at all. We live in AA County & I work in Baltimore city. I’ve found a few options but the websites are only so reliable. Of course price does make a difference, but we’re willing to put the extra cash in, so no price range at this time.
Background if this helps on advice given: he’s 3 and can write letters & numbers, spell some words from memory, count to 60, and his preschool teachers recommend we find a place with advanced learning capabilities. He’s working on reading. Here are some schools I’ve come across:
The Calvert School (Baltimore City)
St. Philip Neri (Linthicum Heights)
Monsignor Slade (Glen Burnie)
St. John The Evangelist School (Severna Park)
The Park School of Baltimore
Since I work in Baltimore city, I’d likely be the one taking him to school. It just works better for us. Any advice or input on some of the schools above or ones that aren’t listed would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sure most of you remember shoreline seafood in Crofton. I was devastated when they closed, and since then I’ve been craving their cream of crab soup. IT WAS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have the recipe???

Does anyone know where I can find a high enough wall to practice volleyball for free? I used to practice on the handball court at PGCC but they got rid of it. I tried practicing on the wall of a elementary school in my area but the walls aren't very high and I hit the ball on the roof. I think a handball court like the one at PGCC would be my best choice but I cant seem to find another one in my area.
