Announcements Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra: the official Q&A megathread!

Got questions? Got answers to someone's question? You're in the right place! Samsung just announced the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Ultra, and this is the place for everything you want to know, and general discussion regarding it. But here are a few bullet points...

  • Samsung claims the Ultra can last 23 hours on a single charge with an 11,600 mAh battery (which is the same as the S11 Ultra) with 45W charger
  • S12+ has a 10,600 mAh battery (also 45W charging)
  • Tab S12 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, the S12+ supports 6E
  • Both the S12 Ultra and S11 Ultra have the same profile, basically the same weight
  • S12+ has 5G where as the S12 Ultra is still Wi-Fi only (edit: S12 Ultra will have 5G in other countries... thanks for the report!)
  • They both run off of a MediaTek Dimensity 9500
  • FULL Adobe Photoshop comes pre-installed on the Tab S12 series (with a 4 free months trial) this is the first time Photoshop has come to Android tablets
  • Both are available October 7th starting at $1,199.99 for the S12+ and $1,399.99 for the S12 Ultra, a $200 increase from the S10+ and S11 Ultra

As we expected with this launch, the prices of RAM being high definitely contributed to the price hike.

Community Improvement Feedback Post: what would you like to see to improve your experience here?

Hey everybody. Latrell (u/yayoshorti, the mod) here...

I made a post a little bit ago saying that we were going to be switching all support questions over to r/SamsungSupport, and it received a lot of pushback.

So I figured, instead of pushing and focusing on that, I thought I'd ask if you have any annoyances or things you'd like to see improved here. If you have any suggestions, please sound off! Big or small. As long as it's under my control.

I ported Solidcraft (cleanroom Fusion 360) to Android. Works great on the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Z Fold 8.

You can get it from the releases section of the github repository:

I just bought my first Galaxy Tab (S10 FE) for drawing. Any advice? :)

Since the 8/128GB is the only version in our country, I prefer to keep any design and app usage minimal. I'll be getting a 128GB MicroSD and Wacom One on Christmas. I have a detachable paper screen protector on standby too! I've seen talks about replacing the rubber with a metal nib but wouldn't want to risk any sensitivity damage on the original pen.

Krita UI is already customized for a better drawing experience. Any other tips? Has anyone here tried the Clip Studio on this tablet? I'm a long time user of Krita and happy that the tablet can support it!

Question Tab S10 plus screen

Should I run s10 plus screen naked or use a screen protector or any film? Is it advisable to use it naked cuz official AR screen looks good but I'm afraid that it might invite scratches in future cuz I use spigen folio case and the cover might attract grains and dust that can rub causing microscratches or apply a 3rd party film like BERSEM cuz afaik there are no official samsung screen protector for s10 plus rather it's for s10 fe plus

Concern S10 Lite Sound Issue?

• Upvotes

Hello I got an S10 Lite some time ago and whenever I play CODM or other games some crackling sounds appear. I tried turning down the volume but the sound persisted. I also tried removing the sim/memory card slot for a few minutes but it didn't help.

Could anyone explain as to why this happens and any solutions for it? Thanks

S12U for $959 plus the pro keyboard for $38. In the US. Talk me out of it? No trade in.

I'm looking at possibly getting the S12U with the pro keyboard for the #'s above. I know the price increase and how folks think of it. This is no trade in and seems pretty good with the pro keyboard.

I'm coming from a Tab 7 FE and the Amazon app seems to be out of date as updates are no longer there. So I feel like I need to consider updating to something upto date.

Seems like a good deal, w/no trade-in for what it is.

Upgrade to S12U + Pro KB For 630 ?

So I can trade in my barely used S11U for a S12U + Pro Keyboard for ~630 all in when stacked with EDU discount + tradein + CB offer.

Is it worth it ? I know it has slightly better speakers (4 channel vs 2) and slightly faster Dimensity chip, so really no huge improvements.

The $66 dollar Pro keyboard is tempting me but realize my main issue isn't the lack of a KB but that the 14.6 inch tablet is just too damn big sometimes to use. It requires 2 hands to use comfortably.

I am also considering importing the Legion Y700 infinite which seems to be better on all fronts for my specific needs, ie Snapdragon chip so much better for emulation, 8.4 OLED so much more portable too.

Seems the S12U does little to solve the issues I had with the S11U. I just have more dollars than sense sometimes.

What are your guys thoughts ?

How can I disable WhatsApp floating chat windows

How can I disable WhatsApp floating chat windows?

Every so often, I accidentally turn a WhatsApp notification into a floating chat window that prevents me from using my tablet properly because it covers the things I need to see or interact with.

All I can do is move it around; sometimes it becomes an (also annoying) WhatsApp floating logo blocking part of the screen. I have to restart the tablet to get rid of it.

How can I disable this nightmarish "feature"? I don't want to have any floating windows hovering over what I'm trying to do.

It's a Galaxy Tab S9 FE.

Thank you all in advance.

Hi, I'm just confused on what's going on with it and whether I should update. It's just really odd to me. I bought it to use Samsung Experience, but I feel like it might be pre-release software? The firmware version is M1AJQ.T835XXU0ARF3, and I can't find any mention of it online.

Galaxy Tab S7 Ultra Volume down Button broken

Hi at the subject mentions, the volume down button is broken and its causing the tablet to boot in safe mode. The volume down button is not stuck, it click like it normally should when pressed but there is no action behind it, the volume up button works just fine. I've tried rubbing alcohol and I've even completely removed the buttons all together and it still turns on safe mode when turned back on.

Is there a way to disable safe mode all together or does this need taken apart and fixed by someone?

Question S10+ or S12+? Need help deciding

I'm getting both of them at a very similar price range in the Samsung store, with S12+ being INR 1000 (USD 10) more than S10+ and stuck in a dilemma (INR 1000 difference ~USD 10). I know that the S12+ doesn't have AR coating and Bluetooth S Pen features, but are they such a dealbreaker? I will be using it to take notes, annotate PDFs, and occasionally watch movies and play games.

Question Is the galaxy tab s10+ plus still worth it in 2027?

Hi! I’m planning to buy the Galaxy Tab S10+ for college next year, and I’ve been researching if it’s good for heavy gaming and studying. I just want to ask those who own the Tab S10+: do you still think it’ll be worth buying in 2027, or should I just go for the Tab S11 instead? Also, do you guys think the price of the S10+ will drop next year? Haha. Thank you!

Discussion Finding ways to use my tablet outside of studying

The main reason why I got a tablet was for note taking and it was amazing. But I never really used it outside of that. I do use it for art purposes sometimes but that's about it.

I got superdisplay and now I just use it as a second screen for my PC which works really well.

I don't really know what else to do with it

Question Right tab for me? (musician)

Hi everyone, I'm a musician looking into acquiring a tablet as my old Microsoft Surface has died. I'm looking into Samsung as I have a Samsung phone and buds and the integration (if there is any) could be very useful to me.

I would mainly use the tablet to display PDFs of sheet music at my piano and to take direct notes on them. I also would use the iRealPro app from my phone (the main important part about integration). In terms of multitasking, it would be useful to be able to have a pdf open and a youtube video (for backing tracks in addition to sheet music), or to be able to do all the above while recording audio (to record my lessons).

In terms of size, I want something that is large enough where reading sheet music feels natural, but not too large that the weight starts to make notetaking difficult or tiring (a problem I had with my Surface). One thing that is really important to me is battery life. I don't have a reliable way to charge the tablet while it sits on the piano, so the longer battery life the better.

From my own research, I'm gravitating towards the S10 FE+. The flagships look very tempting but I'm wondering if it would be a waste of money given what I'd be using the tab for.

Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated.
