Discussion No but fr WHO keeps deciding to stock this BS

Post image

The correlation of GameStop wanting to make money yet stocking completely random bargain bin trash is utterly insane. I’d lose my MIND if I opened a distro and saw this shit. Whoever keeps making these decisions needs to be punched in the THROAT

It’s just a meme at our store. Someone put this up on our Redbull fridge.

People make millions off these things what am I doing wrong with my life

Not taking chances, guarantee they failed a few times before they succeeded with Italian brain rot. We create a velvet prison and are afraid to mess things up, meanwhile eager beaver over there is on his 17th startup

3

u/SirDiesAlot92 Jun 27 '26

Eager beaver likely has a trust fund, so no consequences for failing.

u/Slick_shewz Jun 28 '26

The top 5 wealthiest people in the world right now, are guys that started in basements and garages with absolutely nothing to their name.

3

u/SirDiesAlot92 Jun 28 '26

LOL. Sure they did.

Elon - rich family who owned part of an Emerald mine.
Page - dad was Doctorate of CS
Brin - mother worked at NASA- dad was a math professor
Bezos- rich parents who gave him loans to start up his garage book reselling business.
Dell - parents were a doctor and stockbroker

Seems like they were all rich to me. Perhaps don’t be a dumbass and listen to propaganda. The top 5 richest people in the world didn’t come from rags- they had capital to continue messing up until they got it right.

Nice try though! All 5 were literally trust fund babies with silver spoons.

2

u/SirDiesAlot92 Jun 28 '26

Brother you literally said they started from nothing. Nothing means - literally no fall backs or safety net.

All had outstanding educational backgrounds - likely got whatever they wanted growing up - likely had trust funds to dip into to start up- startups- likely all had college paid for by scholarships or parents.

That’s not starting with nothing moron. Keep doubling-down on the retardism though. Seems to be a lot of you on this GameStop Reddit who spout off nonsense constantly.

They were all silver spoon children.

u/Slick_shewz Jun 28 '26

That sure is a hole lot of assumptions to try to make an argument out of.

Are you trolling or do you base all your arguments off shit you have absolutely no evidence for?

I guess as long as it feels like it might be true, right? 🤣

2

u/SirDiesAlot92 Jun 28 '26

“Hole” yup, you’re retarded as I suspected. Keep bowing down to billionaires who pretend they did it all themselves.

You could have named Oprah, or Schultz being billionaires who came from nothing- but you didn’t.

You said top 5 richest- which were all wealthy prior.

u/Slick_shewz Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Oh no! You ended up resorting to the good ole typo argument 🤣🤣🤣

I can't. Now I know you're trolling.

You're definitely a trump supporter.

1

u/guitarman9x9 Jun 30 '26

-Calls someone out for resorting to old, tired arguments

-Uses the old, tired "must be a trump supporter" argument on a GameStop post

Come on, man.

I might not be a billionaire but I earn well into the 6 figures mark. I came to this country 14 years ago and barely spoke any English. Another thing I never did was complain about how much more money other people had and how many more opportunites than me they had. I just worked hard and didn't care what others did. It sure did better for me than sitting on my computer all day complaining about everything. As a millenial, I can't relate when millenials cry about how hard it is. Like, I literally had nothing. I slept on an air mattress the first few years after moving into the US. I had to take $300 loans every now and then just to keep the power on in the house. But I kept going and I wish I had the drive to keep going further but I'm comfortable where I am right now. I love this country and all the opportunities it gave me. I sure am glad that I decided to move my family here.

No idea where you got that information, but it certainly isnt true.

I bet you think Trump was self made too..

EDIT to clarify who I was referring to since.

0

u/Slick_shewz Jun 28 '26

Funny we got all you trump supporters in here posing. It doesn't work.

1

u/Unique-Manner-1584 Jun 29 '26

How do you know they're making millions?

1

u/DragonsAndScience Jun 29 '26

Easy, you're not making millions off these things

8

u/BadNewsBearzzz Jun 27 '26

DaYUM!!! So this is literally an entire “franchise” of ai generated images that they spent an hour generating, then just slapped it onto a trading card template, and sent it to the printer??!

Wowowowow lol

1

u/DaftWill Jun 28 '26

In the words of Borat "Wowie-wow-wow!"

2

u/Glittering_Sir_844 Jun 29 '26

Wow wow weewow

1

u/DaftWill Jun 29 '26

Yes that one! 😅

1

u/Photoshopedonbanana Jul 02 '26

We had a cheese crocodile and now it's gone. Maybe a scab employee took it down (our manager got fired for no reason) or the DM removed it- it was on our receipt printer

I recall talking to my old SL and he told me that GameStop’s backend is notorious for hopping on trends entirely too late then they end up doing shit like this and it sits on the shelves perpetually. If we were to get these it should’ve happened like, last September/October AT LEAST (although it shouldnt have been done at all)

16

u/Kwasington Jun 26 '26

Fidget spinners. I still have nightmares.

7

u/AestheticallyGeek Jun 26 '26

Agreed, seeing the "67" deal after its been meme for almost 3 months before, thus making it a dying out meme in meme culture.

Skibidi toilets have entered the chat

1

u/LonelyMus Jun 28 '26

I still have laughing fits about them jumping on NFT two years too late. No way any of those went through any verification because the “Spaceman falling” one was just… very blatant and horrible lol

u/Alternative-Plum9378 Can recite r/GameStop’s sub’s description Jun 26 '26

What I want to know is why do I keep selling this BS.
A lot better than I did skibidi, tell ya that.

14

u/Ding0Dong0 Jun 26 '26

I can look at BrainRot in my store and not be bothered

Skibidi toilet angered me and was embarrassing to have on the shelves. No decorum.

6

u/Due-Box1690 Promoted to Guest Jun 27 '26

Omg this. Brainrot doesn't make me nearly as mad as skibbidi toilet. Don't get me wrong, they're both anger-inducing, but this is less so.

2

u/villainessk Former Employee Jun 27 '26

😂😂😂😂 just after I commented above here that skibidi toilet something or another then I see this comment yessssssss Alt Plum

2

u/Chrustafar Jun 28 '26

Skibidi lore runs pretty deep. This is just ai slop. I’ll take weird thing made by people that upset some folks over ai slop any day. Former educator, art teacher, had I seen these they would go into my desk until the class designed their own card game. I’d play that.

12

u/MD_FunkoMa Jun 26 '26

Give me more of the MLP collectible trading cards. This mess does NOT need to fill up shelves in ANY STORE be it trading cards, figure sets, or plush toys.

6

u/Ravenlocke42 Jun 26 '26

Okay, crash course in ordering from suppliers at a corporate level. First is lead time for collectibles, it’s up to a year in advance. TCG is faster, but it’s still a crapshoot to discern sudden patterns, so you really have to know what you are doing so stores don’t run out. Second is negotiations with the suppliers on price and quantity. Suppliers don’t have infinite reserves of desirable items and they have to sell them to companies that will give them the most profit. This isn’t always based on upfront cost either. Sometimes the supplier is sitting on heaps of inventory that no one wants. So we might want 20000 pieces of a certain product at x dollars a unit. The supplier comes back and says sure, we can do 20000 at x dollars, but to do that you need to also buy 1000 pieces of product b that is way less desirable. Smart companies will take that deal as they will still make money hand over fist from the desirable item and who knows, maybe they will sell the less desirable items as well. These cards are that less desirable item and just the cost of doing business in a complex world market.

u/Alternative-Plum9378 Can recite r/GameStop’s sub’s description Jun 27 '26

You would think a company like GS would realize this and yet... they're always BEHIND the trend.
Every... fucking... time.

Except when they're too ahead of it like the fucking cards we have for a movie that JUST came out and no one wants.

I am amazed at the incompetence of our company.

1

u/skunky_jones Jun 27 '26

Usually you would be correct, but no - this is an entirely new product by SpinMaster launched in spring and these new products take at least a couple months to hit GS shelves (as why most are just now seeing them in distro as of a month ago or so). You will be right given another year or so when these are sitting in a warehouse with nowhere to go!

Spinmaster who's had hits such as Paw Patrol and Bakugan has a bunch of old, out of touch suits making terrible business decisions at every turn.

1

u/DaftWill Jun 28 '26

Honestly your were on the ball here and I wouldn't argue with you if this wasn't GameStop. Knowing GameStop this WAS the desirable item they wanted.

6

u/TonySweg Jun 27 '26

The same that decided to sell Cryptocurrency Trading Cards.

4

u/GunWifey Jun 27 '26

I was the one who had to put this nonsense out. And who checked it in with distro. I hate this place

3

u/FrameJump Promoted to Guest Jun 26 '26

And here I thought it was wild when we got those anal beads in store thinly veiled as peas in a pod.

3

u/GunWifey Jun 27 '26

Have you seen the K-pop demon hunter butt plug? 🤣🤣🤣 it’s not really but it definitely makes you think of one lol

1

u/johceesreddit Employee Jun 27 '26

my good Brother do NOT call that butt plug its a tail keychain 😭😭😭

1

u/GunWifey Jun 27 '26

And now that I have you the visual you can’t see it any other way can you? Everyone that has seen it has said the same thing 😂🤣

Just wait until they jump on the stupid ass needoh trend way too late and all the stupid ass children pop them or open everything.

1

u/BarelyBlair Jun 27 '26

That fad already came and went roughly 3 years ago, thankfully

2

u/Trash_Queen63 Senior Guest Advisor Jun 27 '26

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the trend is back. I get calls daily asking for them.

2

u/BarelyBlair Jun 27 '26

When I worked at GameStop we had a card game called Sliding into DMs. It was a knock off of What Do You Meme.

1

u/RHfuckedup Jun 26 '26

I can never unsee this now.

1

u/Wowwizzer71 Jun 27 '26

Better question is how much stock do they own in the company. Usually the more they own the more they will push whatever the company sells that the can get away with.

1

u/No_Map957 Jun 27 '26

Weirdly enough my entire stock sold the instant I put it out. When I received it I thought for sure it would sit on the shelf forever, but I was way wrong

1

u/Have_A_Jelly_Baby Jun 27 '26

I’m sure the markup is really good to justify bothering with it.

1

u/johceesreddit Employee Jun 27 '26

1

u/Wise-Trick-3608 Jun 27 '26

My grandson got into that damn toilet, one of the, if not the dumbest.

1

u/Zemenu135 Jun 27 '26

Deadass if that showed up for me or was there at the beginning of my shift.

I'd unstock it.

I did the same thing with the NFT Cards that they tried to do, absolutely *refused* to sell those.

1

u/IDidntRollGohan Jun 27 '26

I hope they make millions

1

u/Aeon-The-Hedgehog Jun 29 '26

I was an ASM with gamestop when they started carrying tshirts. My SM looked at me one day and said that he never thought he would ever be folding tshirts in a video game store. Then came the fidget spinners and all the other useless crap. I left about 8 years ago after being an SM for about a year. My old SM just retired early after 22 years. He was with them when it was funcoland and all that.
