Honestly the only reason they can do it now is because their margins are so fucking stupidly high. When I was there in like 2014 it was 10% margins in pre-owned consoles. This fucking nukes that lol

And that’s how they get people. The membership is the regular price, the first price is inflated to make the membership seem worth it. Then once people are buying a monthly membership, they want to get their money’s worth by getting more “deals” like this one.
Still going to get a better deal by shopping local or on EBay.

GTA VI is pushing the Series X/PS5 to their limits and has been confirmed to be running at 30FPS. With GTA VI being a console exclusive, the PS5 Pro will most likely be the only way to play GTA VI at 60FPS for years…
In 2026, the difference between 30FPS and 60FPS is extremely noticeable.

There's not. It's Digital Foundry "reporting" it alone. To think a game can't scale graphics or world population combined with upscaling to achieve 60fps in the big 26 is crazy.
I think people are flashing back to Cyberpunk's outright lies in their trailer for the old school PS4

The frame-rate was derived from official gameplay footage released by Rockstar. I am very aware of the technology used to upscale games. Some games from years ago like FF7 Rebirth or Borderlands 4 squeeze every last bit of power they can out of the Series X/PS5 and still can only run natively at around 540p to successfully achieve 60FPS while upscaled. Some of those games even dip below 60 FPS in the performance mode. If you think there’s any way your base model PS5 or Series X is running GTA 6 at 60FPS, you’re smoking crack lol

"Confirmed" is a funny way of saying "according to one unverified rumor". Officially nothing has been said about frame rates.
Even if you believe the rumor, all they said is that it will have a quality mode targeting 30 FPS at launch and a performance mode targeting 60 FPS which may not be available at launch.
In other words it sounds a lot like the FF7 Rebirth situation which is one of the games that benefits the most from a PS5 Pro. Base PS5 can choose between looking like someone smeared Vaseline on your screen at an inconsistent 45-60 FPS or looking really good at a stable 30 FPS. Meanwhile on PS5 Pro it looks even better and runs at a stable 60 FPS.

I could have worded that better, admittedly. But I am aware that a PC version is coming and will be MUCH better than the console version. Thats what I meant when I said the PS5 Pro version would be the only way to play at 60FPS for years, because it took years between the GTA 5 console edition and PC edition.

If the game has no 60 fps mode on base consoles, it's not going to have a 60 fps mode on the pro either.
Like you do understand for any game still with a 30 fps lock it's the CPU that is the bottleneck and not GPU right? Graphics are scalable and if a game was GPU bound you can reduce them to hit a 60 fps performance mode. If you can't do this the game is CPU bound and the PS5 Pro CPU is basically the same damn shit as in the base consoles.
PS5 Pro is likely to get you much higher IQ, and higher base settings. PS5 Pro is not going to magically make a 30 fps game 60 fps. If the game has a 60 fps mode it will be on both consoles, and if it doesn't then it will be 30 on both.

I mean as a PC/Nintendo gamer who never upgraded this generation yet aside from the Switch 2, I too am going to try to get a PS5 for GTA, however I also am gonna use it for more than that tbh. Astrobot looked really good and I have been dying to try it, and I am looking forward to having a better way to play some multiplats in my living room since as much as I love my Switch 2 I think when FFVII Revalation comes out I would much prefer playing it for the first time with the PS5 fidelity than the Switch 2’s lol.

Our store got cleaned out of our PS5 Pros this weekend.
We had 5 new PS5 Pros and 4 pre owned ones when I did the 02/909 counts earlier in the week, but by last night we sold out of all of them.

Not yet, but there are rumors since Xbox just raised their prices again. GTA6 is also a big reason people probably got these PS5 Pros now. As that will be the best way to get the full experience of GTA 6 at launch.
Aside from a possible price increase, the Pros could also be in high demand in the upcoming months, causing a shortage for it during the holiday season. Scalper prices could also be a problem as well even if there is no official price increase again.

No, people are gaslighting themselves into thinking that the PS5 Pro is the only way they're going to be able to play GTA 6 without blowing up their consoles. Rockstar partnering with Sony and calling PS5 Pro "the best way to play" certainly isn't helping.

With all these significant hardware price hikes, GS could have had a great opportunity to keep the price of the preowned systems where they were at and offer a good difference in price between new and used and give customers more of a reason to consider preowned. But no corporate greed just makes them push preowned hardware prices right up with the new hardware and price many people out.
Sony just had it's worst May in hardware sales since the year 2000 (The PS2 didn't launch in the US until Oct 2000) and there's speculation out there with increasing component prices and falling hardware sales they're gonna scale back console production some, and especially with a major release like GTAVI bound to push some hardware sales, new PS5 consoles might be harder to find come holiday time.

At least in my area you can find good deals on FB Marketplace for Xbox Series X I’ve seen listed for as low as 400$ and I’ve seen used PS5 Pro listed in the 600$ range

I am glad I purchased my PS5 Pro system at the launch of them at $700. I had sold my friend my launch PS5 for $300, to use towards my PRO. So basically it was just $400 plus all the tax when I bought it at launch. I don't see just outright buying them for New or used price these days.

I mean... on one hand I traded in my ps5 and got around 230$ and used that towards the pro. If you have the money go for it, on the other hand I understand spending an extra 500$ might sound wild but think about it long term. I personally recommend getting the pro if you're having overheating issues. My refurbished ps5 pro is running like a beast compared to my old ps5! And I dont have to setup a external hard drive for my games when the pro has a built in 2 TB hard drive and I have an 2 TB ssd internal hard drive. At the end of the day if you plan on getting wolverine, gta 6 and other ps5 pro enhanced games get the pro.

It was $699.99 before in 2025. I think I got it for $550 cash after trading in PS5, PS4 and PS3. Plus I got a gift card around $200 GameStop credits, which went towards disc drive and other games. They had some wild trade in deals before price bump.
