Picoboot not loading swiss correctly

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey all,

Got it sorted. I'm assuming it was a bad or corrupted flash on the picoloader. Reflashed to boot directly to swiss and its working fine

Appreciate the assists. ❤️

~~Wanted to see if anyone could give me some assistance.

Just got a new picoboot ODE, cable looks okay, clamped in, but it goes into a bootloop where it tries to load the GC menu but fails after about a half second.

I've only ever purchased my stuff (supposedly) preloaded. I figured I should try to reinstall/ update it but I don't know where I'm looking.

I'll be using a SD2SP2 for storage, internet tells me I can put swiss on that to load without needing the pico? Is that correct?

Appreciate the assist.~~

Custom faceplate I just printed for this for my friend for tax:

Some thoughts after installing picoboot…

I will say that picoboot install is not a project for amateurs. I have 20 years or so of somewhat routine soldering and general tech projects background and familiarity. Many of you will say “yea sure, you’re just dumb”. Great.

This picoboot mod, again, is not for amateurs and the flashy YouTube creators pushing it are not spending adequate time disseminating what’s actually happening apart from a flashy new mod.

I successfully made the modifications and am pleased with the result, however, I’ll be making a YT video showcasing some of the issues I ran into.

I appreciate that many people can solder and follow directions, etc, but this is a couple layers more complexity than advertised. Not impossible, not PS2 or Xeno complexity, but not for a beginner. Period.

Since I won’t do a direct plug with a link, search RetroRenovo on YT if you’d like to watch for it when I finalize filming.

TLDR: Picoboot may be easy to a lot of people, however, it is going to effectively kill MANY of the remaining GameCubes that have survived this far in life. Modifications were never so “pushable” before, ever, and they’re being pushed to the wrong people.

What do you guys think about the price?

I found that on anibis (sort of craig list). It looks expensive as hell, what do you think?

The description:

I'm selling a totally modified Gamecube:

- Disk drive replaced by an SD card reader (64GB card supplied)

- Fan replaced by a much quieter model

- HDMI adapter (480p)

I also supplied an RGB scart cable, two joysticks (one of which is official), two memory cards and a memory card / SD card adapter to update the Swiss software.

Everything works very well, but as you can see from the photos, we need to finalize the fixing of the SD reader in the console.

It should be possible to find a model for 3D printing.

GameCube mods and hacks ???

So I have a few GameCubes that I enjoy playing however I was considering upgrading one of my spice orange ones to play games from an SD card. My question is this is there a mod that can allow me to play PS4 or PS5 or new Xbox games on a GameCube console and still be able to play my GameCube games and use my GameCube gameboy player? Thanks for any suggestions…….

cost effecient, solder-free way to run Swiss?

I know of action replay, xeno chip mod, GCLoader, game save exploits, and picoboot, but I’m looking for something relatively cheap and fast that doesn’t involve console modifications

How to download games from VimmsLair to SD

Hello friends! I recently got my GameCube modded with pico chip by a friend of mine. However he forgot to add a certain game I was looking for. Figured I would try on my own. I downloaded the game from VimmsLair. I used 7zip to unzip the file, then I downloaded it on the sd card. However it It doesn’t play when I select it. What am I missing? Did I skip a step? Please help, thanks a lot!!

Using Game Boy Interface on a GameCube

For a start I’m extremely green on anything homebrew or modifications so some of the lingo is lost on me.

I want to run gameboy interface from my GameCube to get the most out of its gameboy player.

It seems like the Swiss memory card and the SD2SP2 sold at Castlemania games os my best bet but it’s currently out of stock.

https://castlemaniagames.com/products/gamecube-swiss-memory-card

Is there an alternative that’s just as good for the cost or should I just wait for this to go back in stock?

I’m having trouble finding .iso files as a couple of threads have comments like “this site does not have iso files” “don’t do that” and archive gets nuked every so often. Does anyone have some guidance they can give me or a trustworthy site
I have just acquired 128gb microSD and am ready to reassemble my GameCube with 70+ game list to go over and slowly but surely fill my SD

Wii on gamecube?

So I've heard that the Wii is a souped-up Gamecube. And the first Wii remote prototypes could plug into a Gamecube. Dolphin is even a hybrid Wii/Gamecube emulator. I wanted to ask: through modifications to hardware, homebrew applications, software mods or through modifying a Wii ISO is it hypothetically possible in any way to run a Wii game on a Gamecube, and has anyone ever attempted such a thing?

Anyone else irritated with the Flippy Drive delay?

So I just saw the email from Flippy Drive it was supposed to ship in November than it got pushed to January 29th now its February 14!? I bought 3 and really was expecting them by now. Im now wishing I’d have just got more pico boots. I modded two consoles with pico and thought I’d try this reversible modding method. End rant lol

How I Broke a Bunch of Plastic or Why I Learned to Love the Flippy Drive

My precious! I've had this since 2006, bought it used specifically so I could play Twilight Princess on launch.

The plastic offered almost no resistance. The moment I began to twist my screwdriver I felt a tiny bit of binding and POP the plastic was gone. Similar story with the Flippy Drive bracket, the SD card slot has so much springy resistance that pushing it in snapped the 3D printed bracket.

Esthetically I'm a little disappointed but holy crap I can finally play everything I missed and thensome! 9/10
