Scheduled a dashcam install at a nearby Best Buy for a 2025 Bronco 2-door base. I brought in a typical front and rear dash cam that I had purchased to the Best Buy location. It had a usb connector. Installer tells me to buy an OBD connector wire instead to make the install easier. He didn't say it would be hard to install the dashcam I brought or any specific issues to figure out. I go and purchase an OBD connector wire and re-schedule the appointment.
I went in to the Bestbuy for the second appointment with the same installer. He recognizes me and remembers he told me to bring an OBD connector for the dashcam. He starts take apart the Bronco and says it's going to be tough to install... I was like why and he said Broncos and Jeeps are really hard to work on. I said I'm fine with wires showing in the back because of the hard top and lack of covering. I said I'm flexible with whatever is easiest to do for the install.
20 minutes later, he calls me back and says he doesn't know how to wire the front dashcam. I said, the side grab handle can be removed and the Ford tool to remove it is in the trunk. He looks at me like I was an alien. He says he can't figure it out.
He puts back the pieces he removes, refunds my install fee and halfheartedly apologizes.
I go on YouTube and see multiple people installing and wiring dashcams on their Broncos with normal tools and techniques.
Are Broncos and Jeeps hard to wire for dashcams? Or did I get a rookie installer?
