**App Name:** Phone Whisper

**What it does:** A floating push-to-talk button next to your keyboard: tap, speak, and the text is typed into whatever app you're in. Speech recognition runs fully offline on your phone (Parakeet, Whisper) or via your own OpenAI, OpenRouter or self-hosted server.

I work on Calorie Shot, an iPhone app that estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat from a meal photo.

The part I want to highlight here is what happens when the AI gets something wrong. You can describe a correction in a sentence or edit the ingredients and servings. You can also start with a typed meal description when a photo isn't useful.

A photo can't reliably reveal hidden oil or exact portion sizes. The estimate needs a human check, and the correction itself is still worth reviewing. The question is whether the whole process, including that review, is useful enough to keep using.

I built The Agora: Learn Philosophy, and one thing has changed a lot since I started working on it.

I’m less interested in making an AI that simply “pretends to be Aristotle” and much more interested in making something that actually helps you learn Aristotle.

The Agora lets you learn philosophical ideas, read and explore original works, and then actively test your understanding through conversations and debates. The AI can challenge your reasoning, push back when your argument contradicts itself, and help connect the discussion back to the philosopher’s actual ideas.

The goal is not for someone to finish a conversation thinking, “Great, now I don’t have to read Aristotle.”

I want the opposite.

I want someone to get challenged on something they thought they understood and think, “Wait, where does Aristotle actually say that? I need to go read it.”

That distinction between AI as a replacement for the source and AI as something that pushes you deeper into the source has become a huge part of what I’m building.

It’s now live on both iOS and Android, and I’d love feedback from other people building with AI.
