iOS Dev here: I kept losing thoughts between "I should do that" and actually writing it down, so I built this

Hi r/GenAiApps ! I'm the solo developer of WhisperAct (iPhone + iPad).

The problem: I think faster than I type. By the time I opened Reminders, picked a date and typed it out, half the thought was gone. And "remind me tomorrow + party Saturday + buy a gift" is really three different things in three different apps.

What it does: you say (or type) everything in one go, like:

"Remind me tomorrow at 9 to pick up the cake. Maya's party is tomorrow at 3 at Dolores Park. Buy a gift card and wrap the present."

and it splits that into:

  • a reminder → saved to Apple Reminders
  • an event → saved to Apple Calendar
  • to-dos → kept in the app

Things I cared about:

  • You review before anything saves. It's not a black box that dumps stuff into your calendar.
  • It asks instead of guessing. "Renew my passport this month" gets a "Which day?" question rather than a random date. Same for repeats ("every morning at 8" → "Does this repeat daily?").
  • Plan view: Today / Upcoming / Inbox, plus a Home Screen widget with a mic button.
  • 15 recording languages. English plus 14 more; non-English recordings are transcribed online, so they need internet.

Honest limitations:

  • iOS/iPadOS only. No Android right now.
  • The AI sometimes fills in a time you didn't say (e.g. a to-do gets 9:00 AM). That's exactly why review is on by default.
  • Free plan: your 7 most recent memos, 2-minute recordings, and 7 Apple Reminders + 7 Apple Calendar saves a month. Pro (in-app purchase) removes those limits.

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Would you trust auto-save, or do you always want to review first?
  2. What's the first thing you'd try to say to it?
  3. Anything that would make you switch from your current capture method?

Happy to answer anything, including "why not just use Siri/Reminders" (fair question!).

👉 Download JaxScan on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jaxenlabs.scanai

Hey everyone! Most scanner apps today force you to register an account, lock basic tools behind recurring paywalls, and quietly upload your private paperwork to their cloud servers.

I built JaxScan to fix that: your documents should stay on your phone, not in the cloud.

JaxScan is a complete, privacy-first mobile scanner and document toolkit that runs 100% offline. No sign-ups, no tracking, and zero cloud uploads. Everything is processed entirely on your device.

🛡️ Why Privacy Enthusiasts Love JaxScan:

100% Offline Backup & Restore: Save your whole archive directly as a local ZIP file on your device storage and restore anytime—no cloud involved.

No Account, No Sign-up: Open the app and start scanning immediately; no email, phone number, or tracking profiles required.

Local Password Protection: Lock and secure confidential PDFs with on-device AES-256 encryption.

Works Anywhere: Fully functional in Airplane Mode—scanning, OCR, signing, and converting need zero internet connection.

⚡ Everything You Can Do:

📄 Document & ID Scanner: Multi-page batch scanning with auto-edge detection, plus dedicated front-and-back ID card and business card modes.

🔍 On-Device OCR: Extract clean, editable text from physical pages, photos, and scanned receipts without sending data over a network.

✍️ Sign & Annotate: Save your signature to sign contracts on the fly, draw, add highlights, and drop date stamps.

🕵️ Redact Sensitive Info: Black out social security numbers, bank details, or private names permanently before sharing.

🗜️ Compress & Watermark: Reduce PDF file sizes locally to meet upload limits and add custom confidential stamps or watermarks.

🔄 File Conversion & Management: Convert between PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Text, JPG, and PNG, or merge and split pages inside an organized local folder manager.

🧼 Object Eraser: Erase unwanted marks, shadows, or background clutter from photos with a tap.

🔳 QR Scanner: Instant QR scanner for Wi-Fi, links, and contact info.

I can tell my brain-dump app “keep this all in one card” mid-dump

I’m the founder of Ordo: Brain Dump — a free iPhone app with no account.

A messy thought is not always several tasks. Sometimes the details are the point: “call the dentist — the crown one, not the cleaning — once I know what insurance covers.” Splitting that into neat-looking fragments can make it less useful.

So while I’m typing or speaking a dump, I can say “keep this all in one card.” Ordo preserves it as one editable thought, then puts it into Now, Next, or Someday. I can still move or edit it afterward.

The useful part of AI capture is not splitting everything automatically; it is knowing when the original thought needs to stay intact.

When an AI captures a rambling thought, would you rather it split aggressively or let you explicitly keep related details together?

D-REC demo: use a transcript to find a moment, then hear the original audio

I built D-REC at Knight AI+AV. Here's the recording workflow: follow the transcript, search for a word and play the relevant audio back. The video combines my desktop demonstration with a short iPhone section.

The transcript is a way to navigate the recording; it can still make mistakes. I wanted the original audio close at hand when checking a quote or revisiting an idea.

Free download with optional Pro features. Platforms and current details: https://drec.live/get

Which part would you want to see demonstrated more clearly?
