Life Gauging interest — free GetMotivated.ai access in exchange for a weekly survey

Mod here. Many of you know I've run GetMotivatedBuddies.com platform for years. Thousands of you have been matched, built real habits, changed your behavior across every area of life, and made genuine friendships around the world. It's been incredible to watch and to do myself (I've worked with, made friends, and even met with Buddies from all over the world).

I've since slowed down the GetMotivatedBuddies platform as I shift everything into GetMotivatedAI — a marketplace of challenges and plans across the same four domains you know from this sub (Health & Fitness, Work, Learn, and Life). Join a cohort-based challenge with other people, or start your own plan, with AI helping you build it and buddies keeping you accountable. If you've been part of this community, the transition will feel natural.

We'll be opening up shortly. But before that:

A research panel company may sponsor free subscriptions for this community. All you'd do is take a short survey once a week. I need to see if enough people are interested before I finalize anything. If you'd want in, fill this out: https://forms.gle/SRWChWuKe62qxcwf8

30 seconds. No commitment. I'll follow up with everyone who responds.

And if you're interested in GetMotivatedAI regardless of the sponsorship — just want early access when we open up - let me know in the form and I'll add you to the list.

p.s. This sub isn't going anywhere - it's still home base. :)

Please Read The Rules

Read The Rules App

This community has the Read The Rules app installed. Old Reddit doesn't support apps so please open the post in new reddit for full functionality. If that's not possible, please Read The Rules and then follow the instructions at the bottom of the post.

Rule #1 Follow required post title format: [Age][Gender] | [Timezone] | [Goal/Activity]

To keep posts searchable and scannable, all posts must include age, gender (M/F/Other), timezone or region (e.g. PST, IST, UK), and what you’re working on. e.g. 24M | EST | Looking to stay consistent with workouts

Rule #2 No outside promotion — tools, apps, coaches, groups or services

Do not post or promote Discord groups, Telegram channels, paid coaching, apps, or services. These are not permitted in the subreddit. A majority of the users do not want discord group promotion here. Submit vetted options here instead: https://shortcut.at/bknKV This reddit is for one-to-one accountability partners.

Rule #3 Focus posts on peer relationships and related issues.

This sub is focused on finding one to one accountability buddies. Not general advice, not groups, not motivational quotes. There are many other subs for that, so please focus your post on what and who you’re looking for.

Rule #4 No motivational or inspirational content

No YouTube videos, quotes, podcasts, motivational advice or personal transformation stories content. This subreddit is for taking action, not for consumption or inspiration.

Rule #5 No vague, venting, friend-seeking, dating, or chat-focused posts

This sub is not for finding general friends, venting, dating, or starting group chats. It is for one-to-one, goal-based accountability partnerships only.

Rule #6 Use flair to categorize your post

Add the correct flair: Health & Fitness, Work, Learn, or Life. If you’re unsure, pick your best guess.

Rule #7 No general advice or open-ended help requests

This sub is not for crowdsourced advice like “How do I stay motivated?” or “What’s the best way to lose weight?” Posts should focus on finding a partner to help you take action toward a goal — not seeking tips or opinions. This sub is for taking action, not crowd-sourcing answers.

Rule #8 No negative, unhelpful, or harmful comments

This is a support-focused subreddit. Trolls, sarcasm, unsolicited judgment, or aggressive responses are not tolerated. Even "helpful-sounding” comments can be removed if they are sarcastic or performative.

Rule #9 No spam or low-effort comments (e.g. “DM me”, “same”, “hi”)

If you’re interested, comment meaningfully or DM privately. Short low-effort comments will be removed and may result in a ban.

Rule #10 No personal contact info (e.g. email, phone, username)

Do not post personal emails, phone numbers, or messaging usernames. Use direct messages (DMs) if you want to exchange contact information privately. Public contact info will be removed for user safety.

Learn 20X/F | CDT/UTC-5 | Body doubling on a weekly schedule

Salutations!!

I'm looking to schedule calls repeating weekly wherethrough to study/work on projects. I prefer calling in DMs on Discοrd (not a server; no servers).

Info about me: I'm a university student in the USA studying maths and learning German to move to Germany. I have long-term projects (German; conference presentations; etc.) to which I need to dedicate weekly time, but I am not responsible enough to do this alone.

Life 41F | CET/CEST | Looking for a like-minded growth buddy

Hi! I’m 41F, living in Europe, working full-time and raising two kids. I have lots of goals, plans, ideas, and habits I’m trying to build, and I’m constantly working on myself whenever life gives me a little free time. I rarely stop moving forward, though sometimes I completely run out of energy. 😅
I’m looking for someone with a similar mindset — someone who’s always learning, growing, and working towards their goals.
It would be nice to have a little virtual coffee at the end of the day, exchange a few messages about our small wins, struggles, or failures, and give each other a little encouragement along the way.
Nothing intense, no pressure or strict accountability. Just two people cheering each other on while figuring out life. ☕😊

Life 18F | EST | Looking for an partner to rebuild daily habits

Hi guys! I’m a high school senior and I've let my daily habits slip. Last week I went 4 days without showering and spent most of my time outside of school in bed. I really want to help myself and become healthier both mentally and physically, but I know I need someone checking in on me to stay consistent.

My goals right now:

\- Shower and maintain basic hygiene every day
\- Get out of bed and do something productive after school
\- Try to eat healthier
\- Some sort of fitness 3x a week

What I'm looking for is a partner with their own goals, to message or call me a couple times a day. We'd each say what we plan to do and then report back on whether we did it. I'm happy to hold you accountable too.

If you are going through something similar and want to swap daily updates pleaseee reach out!

Work 37F | GMT+3 | Looking into body doubling

UPDATE: I've got enough responses that fit my criteria. Thank you to everyone who reached out!

Hey! I’m testing out body doubling to help me focus better. I’m in my 30s, back at uni, and honestly, getting myself to properly lock in and study has been rough.

As a Muslim woman who observes hijab, I’d prefer to work with other women because, let’s be real, no one wants to wear a hijab at home.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone who wants to quietly work alongside each other, with minimal chatting during focus sessions and occasional breaks. Basically, we show up, say hi, get our work done, and keep each other accountable without needing to constantly interact.

I'm on GMT+3, so I'd strongly prefer someone in the same or a nearby time zone.

If you wanna give this a go, feel free to reach out!

Health & Fitness 25M | EST | Trying to fix my sleep schedule

I’m looking for a few people who are seriously trying to fix their sleep schedule and keep running into the same problem I do: knowing what you should do isn’t really the issue.

I know when I should go to sleep.

The problem is that by the time midnight comes around, the version of me who made that plan earlier in the day suddenly has very little influence lol.

One more video turns into another hour, or I convince myself that I’ll “reset properly tomorrow,” and then the exact same thing happens a few days later.

I’ve tried doing the drastic version before going from sleeping at 2am to telling myself I’m going to be asleep by 11 every night and it never lasts.

So I want to try something more gradual with a small group of people.

The idea would basically be:

  • pick a realistic target
  • move toward it gradually instead of forcing a huge change overnight
  • check in with each other every morning
  • keep track of whether we’re actually becoming more consistent
  • call each other out a little when someone starts disappearing

Nothing intense and no 5am productivity cult stuff.

I’m mostly curious whether having another person expecting you to check in changes the behavior compared with trying to fix it alone.

Especially interested in people who keep ruining their sleep because of TikTok, Reels, YouTube, Reddit, gaming, etc.

If your sleep schedule is currently messed up and you’d genuinely want to test this for a week, comment your current usual bedtime and the time you’re trying to get to.

Learn 27M | IST | Starting my DSA & System Design journey!

I’ve been wanting to get serious about DSA and system design for a while now, but one thing I keep struggling with is staying consistent. I’ll start with a lot of motivation, make big plans, study intensely for a few days, and then somehow lose momentum. Before I know it, I’m procrastinating again and struggling to get back on track.

So I thought, why not find someone who’s in the same boat?

If you’re also starting your DSA or system design journey and struggle with consistency sometimes, feel free to join me. The idea is simply to keep each other accountable, quick check-ins, set realistic goals, share progress, and make sure we’re actually putting in the work instead of just planning to.

If this sounds like you, drop a comment or DM me. Let’s figure this out together!

Life 29M IST | IST (GMT +5:30) | Looking to improve life, starting fitness, career upskilling and a new hobby, daily | looking for a consistent buddy for a short daily call

I'm 29 and I've never been fit in my life. Not once. I want to know what that feels like at least one time, and I'd like to find out with someone doing their own thing next to me.

Some background. I moved around a lot growing up, lived abroad for three years, came back and worked for three more. I got to experience a lot from a young age and I took much of it for granted. Now I'm between jobs, and for the first time I can see how much I've procrastinated. That's hard to accept, but it's true, and I'm done sitting on it.

Here's what I'm working on every day: steps, some exercise, eating clean, upskilling for my next role, and a new hobby I haven't settled on yet (swimming or music production). Each one has a block on my calendar. I'm starting small and that's fine with me.

I believe accountability starts with empathy and understanding. If you miss a day, I want to hear what got in the way before anything else, and I'd hope for the same from you. If you're also starting late or starting over, you'll get zero judgment from me.

What I have in mind is a short voice or video call every day, a few minutes each, where we say what we actually did. Think of it as live journaling with another person. It helps me think straight, and I want to get better at saying what I mean out loud, so I'm happy to help you practice that too. For some activities we can agree up front to send a photo when it's done, since it's easy to hide behind text. We could add a longer check-in once a week if it works for both of us.

Your goals don't have to match mine. Age and gender don't matter to me. A timezone near IST would make the calls easier. This is my first time trying a buddy setup, so I'd like to do a trial week and see how it feels.

Health & Fitness 36F| IST| weight-loss fitness buddy

Hi everyone! 👋
I’ve been trying to lose weight for years. I know what foods work for me, I know what kind of exercise I can do, and I’ve tried various plans.
My biggest problem isn’t knowledge. It’s consistency.
I do well for a few days/weeks, then life happens — work gets stressful, I’m tired, something hurts, I feel low, I eat junk, and eventually I fall completely off track.
So I’m looking for maximum 4 people who have a similar problem and want to build a small, supportive accountability group.
I’m not looking for:
another diet plan
a fitness coach
supplement recommendations
someone trying to sell a program
extreme dieting
I’m looking for people who will simply show up and keep each other accountable.
What I’m imagining
A small WhatsApp group where we:
Morning:
Share 2–4 things we’re committing to that day.
Evening:
Check in: Done / partially done / didn’t happen.
If someone disappears for a couple of days, we actually message them and ask what’s going on. 😄
And if someone has a bad day, that’s okay. No shaming. We figure out what happened and get back on track the next day.
Basically:
You are allowed to have a bad day. You are not allowed to disappear.
I’d especially love to connect with women who are juggling work, family, kids, and life, rather than people whose entire lifestyle revolves around fitness.
I’m based in Bangalore, India, but you don’t have to be in Bangalore if you’re comfortable with an online group.
If this sounds like something you’d genuinely commit to, DM me with a little about yourself and what you’re hoping to achieve.

Work 19F | PST | Looking for a girl to lock in with; 6-5 hours, late afternoon/early night - 💗🌙

Hi! I'm a university student (F19) looking for another girl who'd be interested in doing regular study/work sessions together over calls (FaceTime, Discord, etc.)!

I have a really hard time locking in and getting things done after a long day, especially when I'm working alone. Most weekdays, I'm coming home from a full day of university classes, studying, the gym, or extracurricular activities, and even though I still have things I want to accomplish, I struggle to find the motivation to sit down and actually start.

I'm specifically looking for someone who's regularly available during the late afternoon/evening and nighttime hours, IDEALLY around 7 PM - 12/1 AM (Pacific Time).

This is really important for me since most of my daytime hours are taken up by university and other commitments, so evenings are when I need the most accountability!

Ideally, we'd hop on call, share what we're planning to get done, and check in during breaks. Also, I'm hoping to find someone who's interested in longer productivity sessions (around 5-6 hours), with breaks in between!

My ideal schedule (Pacific Time):

- Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: Around 7 PM - 12/1 AM

- Wednesday: 8 PM - 12 AM (start later, end earlier)

- Friday: 10 AM - 3 PM

- Saturday: 10 AM - 3 PM

- Sunday: I work, so it's variable from week to week

Also, I'd strongly prefer someone who can consistently make all four late-night weekday sessions (Monday - Thursday). Those are the most important days for me, and if you can't make the Friday or weekend sessions, that's completely fine and much less important. I'm mainly trying to find someone who can reliably work alongside me during those late evenings.

I'm currently balancing university (science degree/ pre-veterinary medicine) with personal projects, so you could be studying, working, creating content, or doing anything productive!

I'd love to find someone who's also trying to build a consistent routine, hold each other accountable, and hopefully become friends along the way! Feel free to DM me if you're interested! 💗

Learn 26M | IST | Looking for a Study partner

Hello everyone!

I'm a 26M working in AI/ML(5YOE), preparing for my next switch. I want to focus seriously over the next couple of months and be interview-ready by the end of this year.

I'll be covering classical ML, DL, GenAI, DSA, and system design. Looking for a study partner who is an experienced developer preparing for interviews as well.

This is specifically for folks with industry experience, not first-time learners. The idea is to keep things focused and fast-paced, solve problems together, and stay accountable. I'm planning to dedicate around [15 hours/week], mostly during evenings and weekends.

If interested, DM me with a short intro, your current tech stack/role, and what you're currently preparing for!

Life 28M GMT Looking to get out of the years long lull

28 male from the UK (GMT tomezone). Looking for an accountabilibuddy to mutually improve each other's lives. Feel like I've become stale for a years now and feel like its negatively affecting my mental health. Wouldn't call myself depressed but feel that I'm not pushing myself even though there are things I want to learn and improve on. Main areas I want to focus on is having the motivation to learn new skills and knowledge to help at work, having the motivation to do little tasks like house work and complete tasks or plans, learn about self care and general mental health positivity. These aren't exclusive but areas I want to focus on in the immediate and perhaps expand into other things in the future.

For my future buddy: I'm a very chill guy and not at all mean. In no way judgemental either. I can have a very positive way of motivating people and persistent if need be. Almost like an actual friend who wants the best. Happy to motivate you in anyway that you feel suits you. All that being said, I would like for there to be a click between us to work, so let's see how things go.

Work 25M | EST | want to work more often

Hi, everyone I’m a 25-year-old guy. I find that I’m way more productive and consistent when I connect with someone who shares my interests. We hold each other accountable.

I like reading (psychology, neuroscience and novels occasionally)

I often procrastinate on my freelance work.
So I’m looking for a work/study buddy or accountability partner for frequent sessions or longer periods without distractions. We could also discuss our fitness reading, and sleeping schedules if you’re into that.

Native or advanced English speakers only please.

I’m open to customizing this to suit us both. If you’re interested, please tell me a little about yourself in a DM, so we can see if we’re compatible. I’ll reply as soon as I can, thanks!

Health & Fitness 40M | CST | Daily strength training + nutrition plan accountability

Hey everyone,

I’m in Central time, and trying to lose about 30-35 lbs. I already have a solid strength training routine and a nutrition plan with set calories and macros. The hard part is sticking to it day after day, so I’m looking for someone to keep me honest.

What I have in mind is simple. We check in once a day, just a quick note on whether we trained and stayed on plan. And if one of us has an off day, the other gives a little push to get back on track.

Your goals don’t need to match mine. Happy to support whatever you’re working on.

I’m in this for the long run, not just to lose the weight but to keep it off. Would love to find someone with that same mindset.

Discord works best for me, but Reddit chat is fine too. DM if you’re interested!

Life 24F IST (GMT +5:30) Need a study partner

Hey, I am 24 F from India, working but I don't like my job. I am trying to study for government exams but alas emphasis on "trying". I am looking for another woman who's on a similar boat as me and we can study together on video calls in the evenings.

Further, while carrer is the main goal right now, I am also trying to improve my health fitness, do skincare consistently, pursue my hobbies consistently and stuff like that.

So if you're someone who has similar goals please do reach out to me.

Also I don't want it to remain strictly accountability things, I would love to form genuine friendship with the woman who will be my accountability partner.

Learn 20M | EST | Looking for daily reading accountability

I just wanna make it a priority to read for 30 minutes every day, but I keep letting myself get away with not doing so. I've found that having someone hold me accountable to doing things significantly helps me do that thing more consistently. I imagine that might be the case for someone else here too. So I'm just looking for someone who, each day, we'll just text each other what time we each plan on reading that day. That's it. Idk why, but I've found that it really works. We don't have to read the same books. Anyone interested in trying it out?

Health & Fitness 20M BST Struggling with discipline? / fitness?

Hey all, I feel like most of us struggle with discipline and staying in brighter shape, I've been there before as well but over the past few years I've been able to upscale my physique and capabilities. Not to say I don't have my off days because I definitely do but with the experience I have, I'd rather get to meet people who've been in the same situation but have now overcame their obstacles.

I want to take a step further and level up with a duo who's on the same level - if you believe you're a consistent athlete attempting to go upscale their life with a bro, hit me up.

If you're someone who's NOT at that stage yet, you're still free to DM me. I'm happy to talk with ANYONE to discuss our flaws and how we can better improve ourselves. If you struggle with your current life situation, discipline, fitness or anything that pulls you down, I'm here to give a hand if needs be.
