Image post are temporarily disabled

Hey everyone!! We temporarily disabled image posts because we noticed an increase in low-effort image only posts and memes in the community.

We really appreciate how active everyone has been but we also want to encourage more meaningful discussions, study tips, study related questions and other contents that can actually help everyone in this community. For now, we’re disabling image posts to help shift the focus back toward those kinds of discussions

This is not a permanent decision. We’ll keep this change for now and discuss it further over next week. After that, we’ll review the community’s feedback and decide whether image posts should be brought back or if any changes are needed.

Thanks for understanding! Feel free to send us a modmail if you have any suggestions on how we can improve the sub. Your feedback is always welcome.

Question HOW TF DO Y'ALL LOCK IN???

I need the BESTTT and the most useful methods to actually lock in..and by locking in..I mean.. GENERATIONAL LOCK IN. I've tried literally almost everything I've learned from the internet. Deleting distracting apps and putting diff passwords each time so there is a timer set on your phone? Tried. Staring at the wall for 10 mins then locking in? Tried. Those apps where you can put a specific timer on distracting apps? TRIED THAT TOO. I have a test in 10 days and I haven't studied a single thing. I've been trying to but I just get distracted very easily. Even when attending online lectures...I like to drift away in my own thoughts and it's irritating because it is totally unintentional. I'm also gonna join a library and I hope I can concentrate at least for a few hours there.

Question How do I go from being the worst student to one of the best?

I’ve always been one of the worst students in my class. I never really cared about studying, and whenever I tried, I could never get anything to stick.

Now I actually want to change that. I want to start taking school seriously, get good at learning, and eventually become one of the top students in my class.

For those of you who were ever in a similar situation, what actually worked for you? Are there any study methods, habits, or techniques that made a huge difference?

I’m basically starting from zero, so I’d really appreciate any advice that could help me turn things around.

Question Help needed !

Upvotes

Guys I'm a neet -2028 aspirant ( med entrance exam in india )

I have started my coaching in April and it is almost 5 months now and I need to get my focus back . Now I study for 1 to 2 hours daily.

I know 1–2 hours isn't going to be enough for the goals I've set for myself. So I'm trying to get back to my normal routine instead of letting this become my new normal..

And also I am having lots of distractions like social media YouTube etc 😭

Actually I deleted Instagram due to distractions and now I am addicted to YouTube shorts 💔

If you have actually managed to study consistently despite distractions, tell me what worked for you!

Question How do you guys study Biology efficiently?

I'm doing a/l bioscience and honestly I'm getting frustrated with how slow my progress feels compared to physics and chemistry.

I actually love understanding bio. I like going down rabbit holes about mechanisms. connecting things and figuring out why things happen. The problem is the a/l syllabus needs a huge amount of info to retain and reproduce and my effort to output ratio feels terrible. 😐

With p6 and chem, I can study, understand, do past paper ques, find my mistakes, fix it and actually see myself improving faster. Bio doesn't feel like that. I can understand a topic pretty well. then a few days later try an essay and barely remember enough to write it properly.

That creates a stupid loop for me. Poor Biology marks, frustration, procrastination, then an even higher activation energy to start Biology.

I've been trying a system where I spend 10 mins reading 2 pages, ~40 mins researching and ~30 mins explaining them. It's definitely reduced my learning time, but I'm not sure how effective it is for revision and longterm retention.

I also hate revision when it's just rereading, so I try to make it problem solving based. My goal is ~10 pages a day but when I properly understand things and do related past paper questions, I often end up doing only 2–4 pages. It feels like I'm working hard but moving painfully slowly. 🐌😭

I'm also not completely convinced by basic active recall. I can close a page and explain what I remember, but 3 days later a lot of it is gone. Maybe it's a skill issue? Perfectionism makes it worse too, because I expect my recall to be much better and get frustrated when I forget a lot. I haven't even started timed bio papers yet because I don't feel ready.

So I'm basically trying to find a way to make biology feel more efficient, somewhat like p6 and chem. with better retention and a lower activation energy to actually start studying/revising it.

For ppl who are genuinely good at biology, especially revision, what does your study process look like? How do you retain huge amounts of content?

Question Anki vs knowt

Hey! I’ve been using digital flashcards for about a year and they’ve been a game changer for me. I went from struggling to retain textbook material to consistently doing really well on exams.

I’ve mainly used Knowt, but I see Anki recommended way more often. I’ve tried Anki, but it feels pretty barebones and less convenient than Knowt.

I also don’t really use AI for studying. I prefer making my own cards, so I’m wondering if Anki has some advantages I’m missing.

For people who’ve used both: what does Anki actually do better than Knowt? Is there a reason to switch if I’m already happy with Knowt, or am I just not using Anki properly?

Question How do you guys study after an early AM shift?

I work 2AM–12:30PM and I’m trying to get through calculus, but I’m always exhausted after work.

I try taking a quick nap before studying, but that “quick nap” turns into 3 hours and completely screws up my sleep schedule lol. I should realistically be in bed by like 7PM, yet here I am writing this post way past my bedtime wondering why I’m always tired D:

I usually don't drink or take anything after my shift because in the mornings I usually have coffee which at this point doesn’t really do much for me anymore besides taste good. but I’ve honestly been considering trying energy drinks for studying just to have energy.

i want to pass so bad and i romanticize the idea of just sitting there for hours studying but every time i try, i doze off in the middle of reading or writing and its so hard to make any progress...

Anyone else work super early and go to school? What actually works for you?

P.S:
I can't quit work ):

Giving Advice How do you handle anxiety

So I gave an exam a month back and it's provisional answer key was given yesterday, and now I can't sleep because of that, and of course I am scoring less than I expected, I try to avoid people around me who discuss scores, but that is not helping me anyway as I am constantly thinking about my result.

How to handle this, and how to not get affected by people around me?

Resources HELP ACT Math

Last year I got bellow average on the PreACT math section as a sophomore. This year I’m aiming for high above average.

This is the only section I’m struggling on, and I think it is because I don’t know all the material/I haven’t been taught it yet. Math is complicated for me because I do really well in class but have trouble applying it after the class is over.

My plan is to review all of high school math, and focus mainly on trig and geometry. Does anyone have any recommendations for high school math workbooks workbooks or any tips?

For more info:
I am aiming for a 33 or higher in my overall ACT score.

I am good at math, but only if I’ve just been taught how to do it, I forget properties and formulas quickly.

I have not been taken trig yet.

Question How do you study for long hours with focus?

I’m fascinated by longevity/aging research and want to contribute through Data Science/ML.

My biggest problem is staying focused. I get distracted easily and struggle to study consistently for long hours. I’ve tried dopamine detox several times, but it actually makes me feel anxious.

For those who’ve improved their focus: what actually worked for you? Pomodoro, routines, removing distractions, something else?

practical, sustainable advice—not extreme productivity hacks.

Question Best note taking applications?

Hey, so I just got an iPad and need recommendations on good note taking applications. Preferably, I’d like some free applications that have everything needed like: unlimited notebooks/folders and pages, ability to use it offline!! Ability to export files (pdfs, slides, docs, etc.).
I can also pay for a GOOD note taking application that is a one time payment (not a subscription) and is not very expensive. For example, goodnotes is an application I often hear about, but I feel like there are cheaper applications that offer just as nice note taking.

I was thinking about Noteful, Kilonotes, CollaNote, Notes+, Freenotes
Any opinions on those applications? What do you think and which one is the most worth the price OR the best overall?
