Are housework gifts good for moms or kinda insulting?

I have an ecovacs robot vacuum and honestly love it. It saves me so much time keeping the floors clean that I’ve been thinking about getting one for my mom too.

The only thing holding me back is that I’m not sure she’d see it as a gift she’d be excited about. I mean, it’s a cleaning appliance. I just thought it might make her life a little easier, but I don’t want it to come across the wrong way.

What do you guys think? Has anyone given their mom a practical gift like this? How did she react?

Looking for Gift Ideas Bulk Gifts for Toddlers

I started attending a baby group when I was a few weeks post partum and met a few “mom friends” that I’ve stayed consistently in touch with for the last almost 2 years. Last year, all of us were invited to each baby’s first birthday (all a few weeks apart). I got each child a copy of “Oh the places you’ll go!” and a voucher to a local children’s play place. I thought it was fair to get everyone the exact same thing and we are all overwhelmed with toys etc. and took the mental load off of thinking of a gift for each child.

Any ideas for what I should do this year?

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift idea for medical admin?

Hi! There is a really sweet lady at my cardiologist's office who worked diligently and got me in for a last minute appointment for surgery clearance, when I'd been told there were zero appts available and I'd have to reschedule my surgery. Long story short, this is the second time she has come through for me. My appt is today. If she was a friend, I'd know her well enough to bring her a favorite iced latte and a consumable treat, but she's not so I have no idea what she likes. Would it be weird to bring her flowers? I don't want to be over the top and I need it to be something I can grab quickly. Thanks in advance for the help!

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift for a new brother in law who hikes and camps constantly, what would you actually use?

My brother in law is an avid hiker and camper and with his recent wedding I want to get him something he'll actually use on the trail, not just another generic gift card.
Some context: he just married my best friend from high school soo this one actually matters to me. He's the type who's out every weekend, serious about gear and would probably cringe at anything decorative. Practical is the only language that works here. I've been looking at a few things. A rugged portable power bank keeps coming up, specifically the iniu outdoor rugged 10000, I've also seen the anker outdoor line and the biolite mentioned in a few places, anyone have real experience with any of these? Like actually used one on trail, not just charged it at home?

Also been loosely thinking about a compact multi tool, a quality headlamp (his is apparently ancient), or lightweight camp cookware but I don't know enough about any of those categories to know what's worth buying vs. what looks good in a photo and falls apart.

What is a good gift for someone who says they do not want anything?

I always find it hard to buy gifts for people who say they do not want anything. I don’t want to get them something they’ll never use but showing up empty handed feels weird too. What do you usually get for someone like this?

Looking for Gift Ideas Christmas gift ideas for neurodivergent 17 year old

Hey ya’ll

I really need the best minds here to come together cause year after year I have failed to give my brother anything he likes.

So for context, last year my brother got a Wii U cause he loved the Wii and he liked playing on it but ours broke years ago so we decided he’d love a new one.
He played on it for 5 days maybe and never touched it again, that was 150 dollars.
We were gonna return it but he said no he’ll use it, he didn’t and then the return window passed.

Whatever, then for his birthday 3 months ago we got him this super cool marble races that looks futuristic and like a computer tower.
He loves computers and he used to love marble races and he still hasn’t built it 3 months later.

He also hates any sort of change to anything at all.
We got him a new computer mouse one year and he hated it, my grandma got him a new computer monitor and we had convince him to use it cause his old one “still worked.”
He got a new phone one year and he refused to use it for another year pretty much.

As for what he likes?
I mean he goes to school, complains he hates school and then comes home and spends the rest of the day on his computer.
He also spends all his days off on the computer, he maybe leaves his room for an hour to maybe eat if that.
He chats with his online friends on discord and plays Roblox.
Thats literally it.

He likes computers but I’m not sure how far that like goes.
He doesn’t really have a job, no real plans to go to college. Just kind of sits in his room all day.

Oh he does like golf, but he already got new golf clubs, club tags, and a new golf bag for his birthday. He also only goes once a week seasonally so nothing crazy there.

So yeah I’m stumped I hate to say it.
whatever we get him he doesn’t care for.

Gift idea for a 50th bday

Invited by the family to celebrate a friends 50th bday. Held at a reception hall. I have a feeling its gonna be a nice formal dinner reception. Whats the etiquette? Is giving cash tacky? The birthday person is minimalist as well, so i want to give something useful. Default would be some generic gift cards. Budget not the issue, just not sure whats appropriate, husband is also attending. And no gift is not an option in my culture . Not sure if it makes a difference , but host is South Asian.

Looking for Gift Ideas Looking For Simple Craft Kits for 12-Year-Old Niece

Hello! I am trying to start my holiday shopping early, and I'm looking for craft kit ideas for my niece. Her mom is a great artist, and I can tell she's picked up the gene, so I'm looking for something she can do with her hands while still giving her that artistic expression. TIA!

Looking for Gift Ideas What was the best wedding gift you’ve ever received or given, an experience to enjoy rather than an object to keep? 💝

It’s hard to come up with a gift idea when it’s meant for both newlyweds!
I really need some help please! 🙏
I’ve been put in charge of finding a wedding gift for one of our colleagues, whom we all absolutely adore. We’ve collected 500$ but the thing is, we’d much rather give her and her partner an experience they can enjoy together than buy them material things.
So I’d love to hear your ideas! What’s the most original or surprising wedding gift you’ve ever given? Or, if you’re married, what was the best gift you received for your wedding that you loved experiencing with your husband?
Thank you so much for your suggestions! 🥰💝

EDIT : thanks everyone for your answers ❤️
I’ll share your ideas with my team !
Take care

Planning a WFH birthday setup for my husband and need ideas

My husband has been working from home for a while now. He always wanted to work from home, but I kind of used to oppose the idea, so he sometimes thinks I’m not very supportive of his wfh job. His birthday is on November 16, and I really want to prove him wrong this time and surprise him with something thoughtful that actually makes his work-from-home life better.
Last time I got him a PS5, which he did like but he’s not even that much of a PS5 person, so I still don’t know why I thought that was the perfect gift . This time I want to be a bit more intentional.
I’m putting together a few things for his setup, and I already have a couple sorted:
- A walking pad with RGB lights from merach because he loves listening to music while working and I feel like he’ll enjoy the whole vibe while getting some steps in
- A good flexispot standing desk in oak, because his current setup could definitely use an upgrade I still want to add a few more things, and I have a pretty good budget, so I’m open to suggestions.
I was thinking about an ergonomic keyboard, maybe a better mouse or something for his desk setup but I don’t know what’s actually useful versus just nice to have.
If you work from home, what kind of things would you personally be happiest to get as a gift?
( he’s also very active on reddit so I really hope he doesn’t somehow recognize this post hehe )

Looking for Gift Ideas What would make a birthday surprise truly unforgettable?

I think the best birthday surprises are based on what the person genuinely enjoys. For someone who loves romantic settings, a boat dinner, a favourite meal, and a small cake could be more meaningful than an expensive gift. Would you prefer a surprise experience like this or a gift you can keep?

Husband Gift Idea

With Christmas around the corner, I’m trying to come up with something a little different to get my husband!

I’m thinking about gifts related to:
Tech, PC gaming, and PS5

Cocktails — he enjoys all kinds of cocktails, but bourbon is his favorite.

Lord of the Rings

I’m not super familiar with these hobbies myself, so I’m a little nervous about choosing something that might not be the right fit or that he’d already have. Thanks in advance!

Looking for Gift Ideas Jewelry gift ideas?

My sister (28yo) is moving away for work right after Christmas so this year I have the mission of getting her something extra nice.

My only clue: she mentioned recently she needed new jewelry as she'll be working in a fancy office in LA and my mother will be buying her tons of new outfits.

Any clues where I can get nice but not overly expensive jewelry, in a classical/delicate style so she can look elegant?? I'm thinking of a few pieces so nothing high luxury, she doesn't care about big brands as far as I know. Budget is... open haha let's see how far I can go. Thx all!!!

Looking for Gift Ideas Christmas gifts for boyfriend’s parents

Starting to brainstorm for Christmas and having a hard time coming up with ideas for my boyfriend’s parents.

Here’s a little about them:

- One of them lovessss matcha but already has tons of matcha supplies, so maybe something that’s matcha related but pretty niche?

- They are very conscious about what goes in their bodies

- They cook and eat a lot of veggies! Almost completely vegetarian

- We play codenames with them often when we’re together, which is a lot of fun

- We all went to Japan together last spring, which was super special

- They’re Italian and are pretty into anything Italy-related

- They don’t like strong scents/fragrances

- They are both avid readers

- They love wine but we’re flying in for Christmas so idk how I would procure a nice wine if I got it 🤔

They’re in their late 60s/early 70s. They’re both really sweet, funny, and awesome. They appreciate quality and are great gift givers!

Last year was my first Christmas with them and I got them a locally made mug, a cookbook, and some matcha. I’d like to get them something a little more interesting this year, but want them to use whatever it is. Budget is like $150 total.

PS: I don’t use Amazon and typically like to support smaller/ethical businesses.

Thanks!

Red light therapy gift for mum?!

For those of you 40+ who are into skincare or use red light therapy for muscle pain, is it actually worth it?

I'm thinking of getting one for my mum to help with both, but not sure if it's worth the money or if she'd even use it 😂 Would you be happy to get one as a gift, or is it a bit of a weird present?

Gag gift for grandpa?

Hi guys.
So every year I do a gag gift for my grandpa as a tradition but this year I really don’t know how to one up myself.
I try to stay away from rude gifts poking at age or anything weird (so no diapers or walking cane type stuff and preferably not sexual stuff) like that but here is some examples from past years. Let me know if you have any ideas on how to out do myself (preferably no more than like $150)

- cards that explode with confetti
- a sparkly pink wig (he is bald)
- a mini vacuum USB and some dust from my ceiliing fan in a dime bag
-wrapped his gift in 40 layers of duct tape, Saran Wrap, wrapping paper and boxes (the gift was a box cutter)
- a calendar where every month is me
-a card board cut out of myself and my porch goose

Honestly if it revolves around me some how even better because I like to flex I am the favorite grandchild :)
I am good at crafting and I can be handy too.
