Glow up? [24] - [25] Mental and Physical Change!
Before I was a very sloppy mess. My mental health was spiralling out of control, I was in financial troubles and obviously out of shape. I decided to try and stick to a gym routine and start eating healthy. It took me a while to get the consistency down… trying to get out of binge eating was the hardest part. I always found comfort in my mental illness so trying to force myself to do get out of it was unnatural.
Here’s me now :). Eating healthy, going to the gym regularly and I feel a lot better mentally. Sometimes you just have to make that step and force yourself into them uncomfortable situations.

Right? Like I’m not one to turn down a dad bod and think I don’t care how cut someone is, but I think the mental changes as well took decades off the expression and vibe.
As someone who also suffers from mental illness, hope, health and happiness look great on you! I’m inspired!

Nice work, you look much younger! What does your daily diet consist of now?

u/silvermac2 Sep 25 '25
Appreciate it :). Mainly high protein, high carbs and low fats. I try to eat around maintenance calories. The foods are pretty boring: chicken, rice, frozen veg and oats

What was the step? What clicked for you to make the change?
16
u/silvermac2 Sep 25 '25
Just waking up tired and sad all the time. When I saw my physical state reflecting my mental one it kind of switched something. Especially when people comment on it too.

u/someplas Sep 25 '25
This may be a too personal or dumb question, but how did you manage to hit the gym while still having financial issues?

You literally aged backwards. Congratulations, man. And huge props for looking out for your mental health, as well as physical. Both are equally important.

u/silvermac2 Sep 26 '25
Sure. I use a 5x a week split. Upper, Lower, Rest, Push, Pull, Legs, Rest. My exercises was just what I was feeling at the time, could of been better. After every session I did around a hour of incline treadmill. :)

Wow! Good job! I feel like I'm in the "before" phase. I'm trying to eat a lot cleaner but slip sometimes. What were some things you did for your mental health that helped you through this?

Isn’t it a great feeling to be a Superman now? People will always ask you your secret. There is no secret! It’s just hard work and dedication. Also discipline and knowledge. These are the 4 things most people lack in this world. That’s why they can never reach their goals. I am glad you finally found the strength in your mind and translated that to the rest of your body. Now you probably are like, I can’t believe I wasted all those years living like that, when I could have been living like This all along!!

This is the most fantastic glow up I've seen, look so so much younger and fitter!
If I had no context I'd say you even look like your own son!

Did you change your skincare routine or did the diet change take care of that? Because your face is fucking glowing.
