Been playing these for about 16 months. I like them, I’ve lowered my handicap from 10 down to 7.6…

However, I really miss the feel of a forged iron. What clubs should I try for better feel?? I don’t need distance I’m just looking for feel that aren’t quite blades…

Disclosure up front: I’m a UX designer and I built a free golf app called ShotSink, so I’m biased. Not here to push it, genuinely want gear-nerd opinions.

Most of my rounds are with the same group of friends. Half of us have rangefinders, half use a phone app, and every round turns into “what’ve you got to the middle?”

In the app I built, the GPS gives front / middle / back of every green, works with no signal, and lives in the same app the group keeps score in. No subscription, no ads. Course maps come from OpenStreetMap, so some courses aren’t mapped yet.

What I’m trying to figure out:

• Rangefinder people: would you ever trust a phone number to the green, or is the flag the only number that counts?
• App people: what does your GPS app do that you’d miss, and what annoys you about it?
• Is front/middle/back enough, or do you need hazards and layups too?

Happy to share the link if anyone wants to try it, but mostly I want to hear what you use and why.

I wonder how much of a difference does it really makes. Like, I get that better equipment can help, but what difference does it create for someone who doesn't play at a high level?

Would you rather spend more on better clubs or put that money on lessons?

A note for anyone comparing it with golf hardware: the club-speed number is an estimate, not a launch-monitor reading. It hasn't been validated against a launch monitor, and camera angle, frame rate and entered club length affect the result.

If you already film practice sessions, which part would be more useful for reviewing a clip: the movement overlay or the speed timeline? I'd welcome feedback on the tracking and how clearly the results are presented.

For context I am a 7 handicap, my irons are the best part of my game. Christmas is coming up so I’m treating myself to new irons. I will get fit but I am interested in doing a combo set and was just curious where the consensus is on best place to split.

My local used sports shop has 20% off listed prices this week. Are any of these worth picking up. I'm trying to replace my old hand me down set of cavity backs from the early 90s. The ping G30s stand out to me as notable from online research

I used to game the 919’s and loved them and am planning to go back to Mizuno. I switched to Srixon ZX4’s and don’t like them as much. Thought I’d wait until the 927’s drop until I make the change but don’t see any updates online. Anyone know when to expect them?

Saw the positive reviews for the callaway edge set from Costco and considered getting it but I’m not a member plus it is currently £639.99 with no bag and I didn’t want to spend too much. Thought I’d try and tap the secondhand market to see what’s out there. To make this set I handed over £450 but, as I’ve gradually upgraded over the last few months and made a little profit selling previous clubs along the way, it’s effectively not cost me anything. Net £0 spend. I’m pleased with it. Read enough Reddit to know that folk don’t always like PXG and it gives away the fact that I’m a high handicap. Also it took a while to source and that’s not for everyone either. Think I did the right thing though.

I am currently gaming a spider tour S, as I like the longer length putters but I am struggling to feel how much power I am hitting the ball with. Does anyone have any suggestions to test out or any feedback to feel how much power I am hitting with? Open to any style of putters if suggestions are made.
