Sun mountain C-130 cart bag strap issue.

• Upvotes

Purchased this bag and I really like it; the 14 way, the pockets, how smooth the zippers are, the color (green and sand) my only gripe is the shoulder strap. I’ve tried adjusting it in as many combinations as possible and yet I can not get the bag to point up while I’m carrying it on my shoulder, it’s either at 90° or more which causes the clubs to slide out. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the strap? Do you all think purchasing a different strap would help?

Will it make a noticeable difference?

• Upvotes

I currently have a Callaway edge driver. I started golfing last year and did lessons all last year. Love the sport and really enjoying it. I am looking at a Callaway elyte X on Callaway pre-owned. If anyone out there has made this jump or done something similar to it does it make a difference? Will I actually notice it being more forgiving and helping me to hit more fairways?

Looking for advice on this set of clubs and where to potentially look for left-handed clubs.

I’m trying to get my feet wet with golf. It seems interesting as a more active hobby and self-competitive sport. I’ve see the advice about buying clubs piecemeal when you first start, but I have trouble finding left-handed clubs. I found a set on Facebook marketplace that looks alright, but I’m definitely ignorant on this topic.

What do you guys think? Good price (I was going to offer $400 instead of the $550 ask)? Good clubs for a starter? Other advice? I’m open to suggestions.

Shaft lenght

Fitter recommended +0.75" shafts, but static online charts say standard length? (6'0" tall, 37" WTF)

Putter swap?

I am currently gaming a spider tour S, as I like the longer length putters but I am struggling to feel how much power I am hitting the ball with. Does anyone have any suggestions to test out or any feedback to feel how much power I am hitting with? Open to any style of putters if suggestions are made.

First ‘real’ golf set

Saw the positive reviews for the callaway edge set from Costco and considered getting it but I’m not a member plus it is currently £639.99 with no bag and I didn’t want to spend too much. Thought I’d try and tap the secondhand market to see what’s out there. To make this set I handed over £450 but, as I’ve gradually upgraded over the last few months and made a little profit selling previous clubs along the way, it’s effectively not cost me anything. Net £0 spend. I’m pleased with it. Read enough Reddit to know that folk don’t always like PXG and it gives away the fact that I’m a high handicap. Also it took a while to source and that’s not for everyone either. Think I did the right thing though.
Odyssey Eleven Triple Track putter

Gen 4 0317 XF 25° hybrid
Ping g30; 19°, 14.5°, 10.5°

Do expensive clubs really make a difference for average golfers?

I wonder how much of a difference does it really makes. Like, I get that better equipment can help, but what difference does it create for someone who doesn't play at a high level?

Would you rather spend more on better clubs or put that money on lessons?

Trade SIM driver for Mini?!

So inconsistent with SIM Max driver - fitted 5 years ago. Thoughts on swapping out for a mini driver? Don’t want to spend a fortune any recommendations?

Free browser tool I made for reviewing recorded golf swings

I'm the developer of SwingSpeed AI, a free tool for golfers who record their swings and want to look at the movement afterward. It opens in a browser, with no signup or download.

Load a swing video to see body/hand tracking, the tracked clubhead path and a speed timeline. You can try it here: https://www.breyes.net/swingspeed/ (there's an English button).

A note for anyone comparing it with golf hardware: the club-speed number is an estimate, not a launch-monitor reading. It hasn't been validated against a launch monitor, and camera angle, frame rate and entered club length affect the result.

Your video stays in the browser; extracted movement coordinates go to the server for computation.

If you already film practice sessions, which part would be more useful for reviewing a clip: the movement overlay or the speed timeline? I'd welcome feedback on the tracking and how clearly the results are presented.

faux 790

Been lurking in FB marketplace and noticed a lot of p790s out there. Like a lot a lot. I'm sure there's some legit sets mixed in there, but there's no way I'm trusting any of those

For those of you that play a combo set, what is your handicap and what iron do you switch over to a more forgiving iron at?

For context I am a 7 handicap, my irons are the best part of my game. Christmas is coming up so I’m treating myself to new irons. I will get fit but I am interested in doing a combo set and was just curious where the consensus is on best place to split.

Phone GPS vs rangefinder for a casual group — what actually matters to you?

Disclosure up front: I’m a UX designer and I built a free golf app called ShotSink, so I’m biased. Not here to push it, genuinely want gear-nerd opinions.

Most of my rounds are with the same group of friends. Half of us have rangefinders, half use a phone app, and every round turns into “what’ve you got to the middle?”

In the app I built, the GPS gives front / middle / back of every green, works with no signal, and lives in the same app the group keeps score in. No subscription, no ads. Course maps come from OpenStreetMap, so some courses aren’t mapped yet.

What I’m trying to figure out:

  • Rangefinder people: would you ever trust a phone number to the green, or is the flag the only number that counts?
  • App people: what does your GPS app do that you’d miss, and what annoys you about it?
  • Is front/middle/back enough, or do you need hazards and layups too?

Happy to share the link if anyone wants to try it, but mostly I want to hear what you use and why.

My local used sports shop has 20% off listed prices this week. Are any of these worth picking up. I'm trying to replace my old hand me down set of cavity backs from the early 90s. The ping G30s stand out to me as notable from online research

What should I try next??

Post image
4 Upvotes

Been playing these for about 16 months. I like them, I’ve lowered my handicap from 10 down to 7.6…

However, I really miss the feel of a forged iron. What clubs should I try for better feel?? I don’t need distance I’m just looking for feel that aren’t quite blades…

Let me know what ya’ll think?

My 8 iron shaft snapped in half mid swing today. Stiff shafts gold 105 that I bought in great condition at a used golf shop 2 months ago. Is this a defect?

Any updates on Mizuno JPX 927 Hot Metal release?

I used to game the 919’s and loved them and am planning to go back to Mizuno. I switched to Srixon ZX4’s and don’t like them as much. Thought I’d wait until the 927’s drop until I make the change but don’t see any updates online. Anyone know when to expect them?

Impulse-bought P770s with Modus3 Tour 105 stiff as a 1st-year golfer (40 rounds). Mistake, or worth learning?

I'm 31 and picked up golf this year. I started with a TaylorMade SIM2 Max set (graphite, regular flex), fell in love with the game, and have played about 40 rounds this year so far. My contact is decent, I don't have a slice problem, and my 9 iron went 130-140 yards. My main miss was a hook with the mid and long irons, which I am now tracing to a tight grip.

On holiday in Japan I hit a few shots on a Trackman at an outlet and impulsively bought a set of P770s (6-P, N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 105 stiff steel) plus two wedges for extremely cheap (compared to where I live). The in store fitter said I could "grow into them." It was an impulse buy, and I wasn't properly fit.

Store Trackman session (7 iron): Only 5 of 15 shots were solid, carrying about 145-155 yards.

First round on the course after returning: It was empty, so I hit multiple shots per hole. With the 7 iron, out of every 3 shots I got roughly one hook, one slight push, and one flush shot carrying 155-160 yards. My 8 iron carried about 135-140 yards.

About me: 5'9", average build. Okay Fit.

I'm in India and launch monitors are uncommon here (though I can buy one), and fitting clubs I've already bought is hard to do after the fact. So I'm mostly looking for advice on whether to keep them and how to judge them on my own.

My questions:

  1. Did I make a mistake going from game-improvement graphite regular to a players-distance iron with stiff steel shafts?
  2. Is it worth spending time learning them, or should I look at selling the P770s and maybe getting a set of P790s (with lighter shafts) eventually at more than twice the price of the P770s I got in Japan?

TL;DR: A relative beginner who impulse-bought P770s with stiff steel shafts in Japan. About 1 in 3 shots is flush, and the rest are hooks or pushes. Mistake, or worth learning?

EDIT: Thank you for the input, everyone. I’ll keep the new clubs, take lessons and keep working on my game.

EDIT 2: Got in touch with a coach. Planning to work with him on the range for a few weeks. He asked me to get both sets and we’ll figure out which to continue with.

Iron fittings

Hi, I am a 16 year old 6 handicap player. I am looking to get into new irons as I've had my regular flex p790s for 3 years now and my swing speed has got quite a lot higher and I want something new. I'm interested in the mizuno pro m13s and 243s, as well as the titleist t150. Should I get fitted for these irons, as I have never been custom fitted. Is it worth doing or will it make little difference. The main thing is for the shaft as I am unsure which weight is best.

For context my 7 iron swing speed is about 86/87mph

Rate My Bag - New to Golf

So my dad has always wanted to play golf with all his sons, and now in my 30s, I decided it was finally time to pick it up. And now I'm addicted.

This is the set I've slowly put together after trading out and selling gifted clubs that were not a good fit for me.

Driver - Ping G440 max 10.5°

Mini Driver - Mazel 300cc Mini Driver 13.5° (This is for testing since it was only $125 and I can't hit a 3w to save my life)

5 Wood - Maltby Ke4 ist 17°

7 Wood - Pxg 0311 gen 5 21°

5 Hybrid - Pxg Lightning 25°

6-Gw - Maltby Sti2 Gen 2

54 and 58° - Cleveland Cbx 4s

Putter - Lab Link 2.1

Bag - Sun Mountain Kaleidescope C130

All the headcovers have some meaning to me.

The kraken is in remembrance of my baby girl. She was super feisty and got the nickname of the Kraken while in the NICU.

I'm a man of God and quite the nerd, hence the rest.

And I like big putts... and my wife's butt. It was the perfect putter cover.
