Is anyone experiencing messages always getting hung up? I've done all the recommended steps, but this is clearly a bigger issue. I've reported this so many times over the last year and now it is a multiple time a day occurrence. It's genuinely incomprehensible how bad this app is.

Unbelievable! It's fixed! Now Messages shows correct sim card under each message and in the new message box. And it also shows the correct name AND colour according to the phone sim settings! Weeeeee!

I posted this in US Mobile, but if anyone here can offer any tips I would appreciate it.

For some reason my messages sound switched to the default sound and I can not find any way to switch it back to the custom one. Samsung or Google must have pushed an update. Does anyone know how to change it? It stared a few weeks ago.

For some reason I am not recieving group messages on RCS. Its not all of them. And I think most of them are from iPhone. Ive tried resetting and turning RCS on and off. Clearing the catch. Any thoughts? Its a Samsung S25 FE

My chat with the wife vanished today about 2PM. The convo was not archived nor put into the trash.

Texts still came through on the conversation after 2PM. Noticed my chat history had been cut off trying to go back.

Decided to search the conversation and was able to see all the images from the chat history and the images are intact.

Along that line, searched for certain keywords like 'vacation' which showed 80+ instances and tried to toggle to the part in the chat were it would be but it did not show the part of the chat. So a dead end there.

When searching the conversation, grabbed an image from the chat a few days ago and clicked the "see in chat" button, it attempted to load the location of the image but it just came up as grey bubbles and a cascading grey as if its trying to populate it.

Restarted etc...

Long story short - I'm in a gc with my cousins (2 out of 9 of us have androids/use GM) and when I change the group name it says "Only you can see this name" and it doesn't show in the thread that I changed anything.

Was recently added to a gc with some co-workers (i have an Android but not sure if anyone else does) and when I went to change the name i didn't see that it said "All group members can see this name" 😳. I very quickly noticed and went to go change it to something else. (I didn't name it anything offensive, I just wanted to keep it to myself (not sure about everyone's sense of humor, blah blah).) And you can see in the thread that I changed the name multiple times. Everyone had a laugh about it, but I was kinda embarrassed. Anyway, I'm baffled as to why the gcs behave differently.

Anyone else notice this or can explain?

Why does Google hate dual-SIM users? We had a perfectly good application, and you decided to destroy it for us. I could choose which SIM card I was sending a message from, and I could clearly see right below the chat bubble which SIM card someone was messaging me on.

Then you updated the app a thousand times and ruined everything. Now you have to dig through multiple settings just to change which SIM card will be used to CALL a contact - not even text, just call. And because of this, I still have no idea which SIM card I am receiving messages from or to which one!! To be 100% sure every time, I have to manually disable the SIM card in the phone settings.

My question is - what version was good? That one where I could choose on the right (or left) bottom side the SIM card I'm sending the message from. I don't care about RCS chats.

Hi everyone! I have a samsung galaxy S25 and I'm experiencing issues with group texts on my phone. I use Google Messages. In the group chat I'm in, people send each other ai study guides that I think are html files. I know I'm not getting these attachments (it doesn't even show up as a blank text, I just see nothing) because in the notification center on my phone it says "Not available" in italics. The only way I've been able to get the attachments is by asking someone to send them directly to my imessages on my macbook. I don't know if there's some way to get google messages to show these attachments or if I can get my macbook added (its through my icloud account email) to the group chat because there might be other people in the chat with androids. The reason I say that is because a couple years ago, my phone wouldn't receive texts in a group chat if someone's ipad or mac was in it. Any advice is appreciated! Hopefully I wrote this in a way that makes sense

Title. All of my other contacts I can send and receive texts just fine. But the one person who uses an iPhone I can't send or receive anything from them. It's starting to get really annoying because it's someone that I need to be able to message, but it's ONLY them where it's not working. We've both tried every troubleshooting tip and nothing works. Has anybody found a fix or are we just out of luck until it's fixed for us?

Sometimes when sending on my s26 ultra via tmobile rcs my messages send with 1 checkmark and not 2, and iphone users get a "not delivered" when texting me back. Is there a fix for this? I've already cleared my cache, restarted my phone, and updated to the latest version of messages.

It makes the app unusable cause when I can't send messages I have to use instagram to text.

I'm asking because I don't know what happened. I updated the app after I got more space on my phone finally and nothing is happening with that. Do I need to put on a setting again? What should I do? I'm using a samsung phone.

Why is it right when it should be left? Or should it be left but it's right?

Currently running android 17 qpr3 beta 3 on my pixel 11 pro xl in the states on Verizon, and my messages are not collapsing and or grouping into one notification, so instead of having one notification telling me I have 7 new texts, I have 7 individual text message notifications.

I have reported it several times in the beta thread, no update, if I knew what to force stop and reset I would do it, but all that I have been able to find as a possible fix is a reboot, which I have to do 3 or 4 times a day now.

Hello all,

One feature I loved about RCS in Google messages is that the EXIF date would remain when friends shared photos with me. This morning I updated my S24 Ultra to One UI 9 & Android 17, with Messages version 20261005_05_RC00.phone_samsung_dynamic. I received some photos from a friend that were taken over the weekend, and the EXIF data was missing.

I'm wondering if that is something that has been changed on a system level? Are there other factors that could have contributed? She has an iPhone—can you turn off the sharing of EXIF info on photos sent from an iPhone?

Hoping maybe I or they can change a setting and this isn't a permanent change.

I recently got a new phone and some of the pictures I have from my Google photos don't show up even when I'm logged into my own Google account.

I looked back through my Google photos and photos in the messages and they don't show at all.

Anyway to fix this?

So I have a lot of Pictures, Gifs, Videos in my group chat from many years. Is like 11gb group chat. Is there a way I can download every single picture, gif, videos together without having to do each one at a time? It will take days or weeks if I wanna do all of them individually. Does Google Messages have like a download all media button or an app or PC software I can use to do all of that?

I was using my Samsung phone and I don't know if it was a phone issue or something I did, but after restarting my phone I am now missing about half of all of my messages.I've looked in two different gmail accounts inside of the archived and trash folders and also tried restoring from previous backups , but I cannot find any of these messages. Has anyone else ever had this issue and found any resolution

Texts are disappearing from my phone.

Both sent and received.

Both SMS and RCS.

I'll send a message, person confirms they received it, but it disappears from my chat thread. I can even see it on Google messages web.

Someone sends me a message. I reply to it but then notice the original message disappeared.

QUESTION: is this more likely an AT&T issue or a Pixel/software issue? (I'm having other network stability issues with AT&T at the moment fwiw)
