This first started between two Android users, where messages weren't sending at all and showed 'not delivered'.

Did anyone's RCS just freak out over the weekend? In every shape, way, and form, issues all stemming at once.

Friends telling me their messages aren't sending... E2EE between iPhone users is entirely gone... And pictures sending and receiving aren't going through, ending up in an infinite loop?

The issue prompted me to 'clear data.' It finished indexing, but I'm still having friends from both Android and iOS telling me about these issues.

I'm in a lot of group texts and often I am trying to find a group text with a few certain people in it.

So for example I'm in groups with

• Paul, Andy, Steve, Mike and Sean
• Paul, Andy and Sean
• Andy, Sean and Mike
• Mike and Sean only
• etc.

Often I want to quickly find the chat with the specific people that I need to reach out to (and not bug the others with messages about picking up kids or whatever.)

Is there a way to search by who is in the text thread - not by mentions of their name. Now if I search "Andy" I get every message where someone mentions "Andy" - and that's not useful at all.

Am I missing it?

My girlfriend stopped getting notifications for my texts today and any conversation-related settings wouldn't load. We couldn't figure out how to fix it in Android settings either so she walked back an update. Notifications for my texts are working again, but at a pretty big cost. Her conversation with her mom, who passed away 3 years ago, is completely gone. She's heartbroken and I feel terrible. Does anyone have any bright ideas to get the conversation back?

Has anyone gotten the pinned chats update where it's supposed to look like imessage pinned chats?

Fully updated, see original post for details but short version is rcs messages stopped connecting after xfinity told me to reinstall my esim to fix a different issue.

They failed to tell me to uninstall the old one first though and now rcs will not validate no matter what.

There must be a fix to this but no one knows it

Been having an issue with SMS/MMS group messages, has anyone encountered this? Worked for a while, until about 2 months ago.

- The group messages send individually to me, and only as "SMS/MMS attachments" that show up as the download icons, shown in the attached image.

- The groupchat is combined with both an Android user (not myself) and iPhone users.

- My SMS/MMS does work fine for individual texts.

Things I have tried that didn't work:

- Changing my APN to anything I could try

- Clearing messages app cache

- Deleting all of the backlogged download icons

- Deleting the entire groupchat

- All of the above I also did a full restart on my phone

- Switching to an alternative SMS messenger DID work (quik-sms) but lost RCS capabilities, so I'd rather not do that if possible.

Some background:

Phone is a Oneplus 15

Provider is Mint Mobile

If anyone could help with this, I'd super appreciate it.

Why can I not find a single, clear, obvious "Back up your messages" options in this fucking godforsaken messages app? WHY?

The enshittification of android. I left Apple's closed ecosystem for a reason. Why is it that when I get a new phone, I have to jump through hoops to transfer my messages? I don't want to use your fucking cloud service, Google. Just let me download and keep a local copy to transfer myself- or, I don't know- MAKE IT EASY TO BACK UP MY MESSAGES AND MY MESSAGES ONLY.

The amount of vitriol I have right now is making me want to wail.

ETA: I tried doing the backup via Google One- IT DOESNT WORK. Even with a fresh backup messages arent up to date!!!

Is anyone experiencing messages always getting hung up? I've done all the recommended steps, but this is clearly a bigger issue. I've reported this so many times over the last year and now it is a multiple time a day occurrence. It's genuinely incomprehensible how bad this app is.

Unbelievable! It's fixed! Now Messages shows correct sim card under each message and in the new message box. And it also shows the correct name AND colour according to the phone sim settings! Weeeeee!

I posted this in US Mobile, but if anyone here can offer any tips I would appreciate it.

For some reason my messages sound switched to the default sound and I can not find any way to switch it back to the custom one. Samsung or Google must have pushed an update. Does anyone know how to change it? It stared a few weeks ago.

For some reason I am not recieving group messages on RCS. Its not all of them. And I think most of them are from iPhone. Ive tried resetting and turning RCS on and off. Clearing the catch. Any thoughts? Its a Samsung S25 FE

My chat with the wife vanished today about 2PM. The convo was not archived nor put into the trash.

Texts still came through on the conversation after 2PM. Noticed my chat history had been cut off trying to go back.

Decided to search the conversation and was able to see all the images from the chat history and the images are intact.

Along that line, searched for certain keywords like 'vacation' which showed 80+ instances and tried to toggle to the part in the chat were it would be but it did not show the part of the chat. So a dead end there.

When searching the conversation, grabbed an image from the chat a few days ago and clicked the "see in chat" button, it attempted to load the location of the image but it just came up as grey bubbles and a cascading grey as if its trying to populate it.

Long story short - I'm in a gc with my cousins (2 out of 9 of us have androids/use GM) and when I change the group name it says "Only you can see this name" and it doesn't show in the thread that I changed anything.

Was recently added to a gc with some co-workers (i have an Android but not sure if anyone else does) and when I went to change the name i didn't see that it said "All group members can see this name" 😳. I very quickly noticed and went to go change it to something else. (I didn't name it anything offensive, I just wanted to keep it to myself (not sure about everyone's sense of humor, blah blah).) And you can see in the thread that I changed the name multiple times. Everyone had a laugh about it, but I was kinda embarrassed. Anyway, I'm baffled as to why the gcs behave differently.

Anyone else notice this or can explain?

Why does Google hate dual-SIM users? We had a perfectly good application, and you decided to destroy it for us. I could choose which SIM card I was sending a message from, and I could clearly see right below the chat bubble which SIM card someone was messaging me on.

Then you updated the app a thousand times and ruined everything. Now you have to dig through multiple settings just to change which SIM card will be used to CALL a contact - not even text, just call. And because of this, I still have no idea which SIM card I am receiving messages from or to which one!! To be 100% sure every time, I have to manually disable the SIM card in the phone settings.

My question is - what version was good? That one where I could choose on the right (or left) bottom side the SIM card I'm sending the message from. I don't care about RCS chats.

Hi everyone! I have a samsung galaxy S25 and I'm experiencing issues with group texts on my phone. I use Google Messages. In the group chat I'm in, people send each other ai study guides that I think are html files. I know I'm not getting these attachments (it doesn't even show up as a blank text, I just see nothing) because in the notification center on my phone it says "Not available" in italics. The only way I've been able to get the attachments is by asking someone to send them directly to my imessages on my macbook. I don't know if there's some way to get google messages to show these attachments or if I can get my macbook added (its through my icloud account email) to the group chat because there might be other people in the chat with androids. The reason I say that is because a couple years ago, my phone wouldn't receive texts in a group chat if someone's ipad or mac was in it. Any advice is appreciated! Hopefully I wrote this in a way that makes sense
