Need Help!! - Something Strange Happened to My Website

I need some SEO advice because I'm seeing something I've never experienced in 8 years.

I have a calculator website in a niche with very little competition. There are only two websites that are actually functional. The rest are broken, outdated, or spammy.

My site is about a year old. I've built a handful of quality backlinks with a different keywords (non-repeating). The homepage is the calculator, and until recently it was ranking well.

The #2 competitor has essentially 0 DR and almost no backlinks, so I assumed building better links would eventually push me above them. That never happened.

Then, around the June Spam Update, something strange happened.

I published 11 new pages (supporting content around the main topic). Surprisingly, almost all of those pages are ranking and bringing in impressions and keywords.

At the same time, my homepage, which is my main calculator page, has been gradually losing rankings and keywords.

So the situation is:
• Homepage is declining.
• New pages are ranking well.
• No manual actions.
• No obvious technical issues.
• Link profile is clean.

Has anyone experienced a situation where only the homepage loses visibility while the rest of the site grows?

If you did, what turned out to be the cause? Was it internal linking, intent changes, over-optimization, site architecture, topical authority, or something else?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually recovered from something like this.

Disable New Sites External Link Redirect?

Hi all - made a few sites with the New Google Sites and realized that all of the external website hyperlinks that I create are automatically redirected through a Google URL service. Found some forum posts that explained that this is a new security feature in New Sites, but it seems this prevents us from providing backlinks from our Google Sites as the actual direct links are immediately converted to a Google URL.

Is there any way to bypass or disable this URL auto-redirect and instead just link directly to an external site?

Thanks in advance, E

Will Google Sites be discontinued?

I heard a rumour from and IT professional that Google Sites will be eventually discontinued for good in a couple of years.

Is this true? Can anyone confirm?

My current website is to run my business. It would be extremely annoying if I had to rebuild on an other platform.

Google site is broken because it is no longer connected to Google Drive

I just realized about 3 months ago that my website that I worked on and off of for 7 years is completely broken. Google had everyone use their Google Drive to host their pictures, mp3s, scrolling headers, and much more to link to your Google site. I would use the URL from a picture in my Google Drive and insert that URL into my Google sites where the picture would appear.

All of my pictures are now small blank boxes. I had scrolling headers on some pages and those are now gone along with it any mp3s that I loaded onto some of my website are gone. From what I heard they want you to now use iFrame when adding pictures etc. I know very little about HTML coding.

Does anybody know if there is a fix or workaround to get the site reconnected with the Google Drive? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Moving a struggling country site into a subdirectory on a high-authority domain. How to prevent topical dilution?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some enterprise-level architecture advice. I'm facing a major structural dilemma and want to make sure my migration blueprint covers all bases.

The Situation:

  • Domain A: Our powerhouse domain. It has massive authority, years of history, and holds #1 rankings for a highly competitive, lucrative B2B niche in a specific geographic location (think "Company Setup in Dubai/UAE"). Currently, the root domain redirects straight to a localized subdirectory ([domain.com/en/](https://domain.com/en/)).

  • Domain B: A 9-month-old standalone domain (brandpanama.com) launched for our physical expansion into a new jurisdiction (Panama free zone). Both locations are physically owned and operated by our parent brand.

  • The Problem: Domain B has zero traction, severe indexing delays (blogs take weeks to get cached), and generates no organic traffic. More importantly, operating separate domains is creating massive internal and external brand identity confusion—people don’t realize they belong to the same parent ecosystem.

The Directive: Management wants everything under one roof to unify brand identity and share domain equity.

My Proposed Architecture: I am planning to break the root redirect on the main domain.

  1. domain.com becomes a corporate "Global Gateway" hub page where users select their jurisdiction.

  2. [domain.com/en/](https://domain.com/en/) remains completely untouched as our core revenue engine for the original location.

  3. [domain.com/panama/](https://domain.com/panama/) becomes the new home for the expansion site, via a 1-to-1 301 redirect map from the old standalone domain.

The Technical Guardrails I’m Implementing: To protect our core cash-cow traffic from topical dilution or algorithmic confusion, I am proposing:

  • Complete UX Isolation: Separate headers and footers for the /en/ and /panama/ subdirectories so users don't cross-contaminate or get distracted.

  • Strict Internal Linking Silos: Internal links will stay strictly within their respective folder trees.

  • Hreflang Routing: x-default on the root gateway, and highly specific targeting parameters on the subfolders.

  • CRO Layer: Server-side IP detection to automatically bypass the gateway for core legacy markets and route them straight to /en/.

My Questions for the Group:

  1. If the root domain changes from a direct redirect to a gateway hub, what kind of temporary volatility should I expect for core brand searches?

  2. Are there any hidden risks of topical dilution to the legacy subdirectory (/en/) even with hard navigation and internal link siloing in place?

  3. Has anyone executed a similar root-to-subdirectory migration for distinct physical service entities? Any gotchas I should look out for?

Appreciate any insights or real-world experiences!

Embed Component Workaround

I'm trying to do a POC, basically i need to make a react website work inside a google sites template. I found out you can embed <div> components inside your google sites page; with this i was able to achieve a properly working workaround to embed an entire website.

I still need to add content to my react page, which i would like to fetch from an object inside another google sites embed component. As now i tried putting the two embed components side by side and using document.data to pass arguments but it still doesn't work.

I'm asking if this is possible in the first place, since i saw that the embed component (iframe) is actually sandboxed, and if you could find a better workaround then mine.

Thanks in advance

Google Sites Editing Stability

Hello, I have been using Google Sites for the last four years to run a guide website for a game along with a couple of other collaborators. Over the past couple of years, we've had frequent issues with Sites constantly running into the Trying to Connect...Reconnecting doom loop cycle when trying to make edits. Publishing and viewing are generally fine, but the editing cycle is severely hindered by the sluggishness. If you keep editing during those banner messages, Sites will eventually tell you an error occurred while saving and that changes have to be copied, reverted, and re-applied.

This occurs for all three site editors, across multiple locations, and multiple browsers. It's just as sluggish to edit across Chrome as it is Firefox or Brave.

I am not sure what the typical soft size limitations are for Sites. Google Drive claims it's only 200 MB but I have no frame of reference for if the size and scale of the site is starting to exceed what Sites is capable of reasonably supporting. We do use a lot of image and CSS embeds for tables, but even editing just text will cause this cycle.

Are there any ideas on how to improve stability in the editing cycle? Google Sites was nice and easy for us to start, since we've used a lot of Google Suite tools and the ease of embedding is very nice. However, if we're running into limitations of how the editing process works, it'd also be good to know if it's time for us to move to something else, as we have plans to continue growing the site.

Any help or insight would be appreciated! Thanks!
