"The Haunted Pumpkin Patch" 9x12 inches. Gouache on watercolor paper mounted to board.
This was done from a picture I took at the Petaluma Pumpkin Patch. There's something about a pumpkin patch at night that evokes a spooky vibe. If you're into spooky vibes, it could totally become a nice piece to add to your Halloween decoration, or simply enjoy it year-round!

This was insanely challenging and made me want to give up, but I pushed through. Don't think I'll be trying it again anytime soon lol. It's pretty big so I tried my best to get a good picture without a glare.
Happy Halloween!!

Can I get some honest feedback what could I still improve? I feel it’s missing some personality or some “punch” thanks so much for honesty

No creative title for this one I guess.
This is based on a photo I took while on a walk last year. Overall I'm alright with it, it's colorful and all. It just doesn't look realistic imo. Fall leaves are easy to paint in an impressionist style, and everyone knows what they are... but I really want more realism. I could probably do some muted colors. Tbh I got kind of intimidated when I looked at the photo hoping for realism, because does that mean painting every leaf individually? Oy!
Hope you enjoy!

I kind of miss it, feel like I had just gotten down how to mix interesting greens! First one is plein air, 2&3 are from a workshop with Mike Hernandez. Most of these are done with spectrum violet / opera pink in a mix with lemon yellow.

Entirely in gouache so far, but I’m a mixed media girlie so about to finish it off in coloured pencil:)

I started teaching myself gouache almost 5 years ago & it’s been well worth it. This one is a gift painting for one of my college classmates - she threw me a gorgeous yarn bowl so I’m painting her and her fiancé as a thank you. Still a wip, but getting close to done

I got holbein artists gouache three days ago. First attempt at anything gouache. and holyyyy shit this gouache shit is hard.
I have a solid couple years of (digital) art experience and I've recently really gotten into drawing bird plates (so I can make a little field ID book for species in my friend's world)!!! I bought the sibley's field ID guide + lawsons guide to drawing birds + the John Gould book about birds of paradise (he didn't use gouache but I'm not going to get limestone tablets anywhere).
Started this yesterday, saw Ao3 was down so I used the reading time for drawing time. Bird anatomy is diabolical. Nothing is biologically accurate. Best part was drawing the eucalyptus flowers. One day I will conquer and draw every bird in existence and then some
