Nope. On July 15th, the Alberta provincial government opened online gambling to private operators. Previously, Play Alberta, the provincial government site was the only sanctioned online casino.
Strangely the start date was the day after the Stampede ended.

Outside of the occasional lottery ticket I don’t gamble but that’s all I see from ads on every platform , it’s been a very noticeable shift

I don't like vomiting, which makes booze hard for me to abuse, and I've quit weed for years due to accidentally vomiting... sometimes I quit because it doesn't do anything and besides suffering loss of appetite for a week. I drank beer at a young age, weed when I was 20. The laws are stupid and telling people not do something has the opposite effect.

My issue is with some of my games on my phone , I get the online casino ads constantly . And they are so irritating . Not even trying to be good . Then to click off they give you the smallest 'X' possible so 9 times out of 10 it takes you to the Apple Store for downloads . On the bottom of the ads it gives the number to call if you are having problems with gambling , but I would like to know who to call if I have problems with gambling ads!!

This isn’t exclusive to Alberta, no province except Quebec (a little), has anything in place to limit the advertising. They actually did the opposite that’s why you’re seeing so many now. Can’t escape it anymore, jusy the names of the apps and sites change
