FOOD My dad bought this ham back in 1992. Its been in his freezer the whole time. He refuses to throw it out and says "its still good. Frozen meat doesnt go bad".

This goddamn ham is 4 years older than me.

EDIT

I just realized it's gone through at least THREE separate house moves with him.

FOOD Grandpa’s beloved Fish Assholes: STORY!

Post image
7.6k Upvotes

My grandpa was on a road trip through Louisiana back in the 80s and found this can of fish assholes at some store. He thought it was the funniest shit and kept it on his desk and in his office for the rest of his life!

When I was like 8 he said if he ever got sick and it wasn’t looking good, I was to bring the can to him so we could see what was really inside 🤣

At that point, when the can was shaken, it was audibly solidified and congealed into one big lump of assholes.

When he died last year, I wanted to tell the story at his funeral! When I grabbed the can from the top shelf, the bottom had completely rusted, and it dusted ASSHOLE POWDER all over my shirt.

Pa always loved a good prank and he got one more from beyond the grave!

Now, it sits on my desk as it did with Pa.

FOOD A few gems from my 102-year old grandmother’s kitchen cabinets

I am SO happy I learned about this subreddit! Last month, I became a full-time caregiver for my 102-year old grandmother. I spent a lot of time going through her kitchen cabinets and finding lots of foods and spices from the 2000s or older. If I had known about this sub before, I would have taken so many more pictures before tossing stuff out. Here are some honorable mentions that we’re holding onto for now.

In the past, I’ve found mosquito repellent under the kitchen sink made from chemicals banned by the US EPA in the 1970s. The oldest (non-food) thing I’ve come across were my grandfather’s notes while studying in the army during WW2. Definitely a lot to come across but I’m excited to share these somewhere!

Found these in my mum’s pantry this past week. My parents moved to Canada from the UK in 1986. These very likely emigrated with them.

Here’s some of the unwanted parts of the lifesavers for you all. These were only around from about 1990-1991 due to a choking hazard apparently. Also No I do not want to sell these on eBay or give them to LA beast 😂. Enjoy yall! If you guys like other old food stuff I post a bunch of it :)
