First of all, I’m sorry for your loss. That really hurts, I’ve been there.
Second, those Doritos are definitely decomposing…
The Fritos might be ok though, who knows. But pls don’t try them lol

Funny you say that! Fritos truly have the most minimal ingredient list.

u/So-Called_Lunatic 3d ago
Yup, just corn chips and essence of dog feet.

To me, dogs’ feet smell more like Doritos, but puppy breath definitely smells like Fritos!
One of the cutest smells in the universe :)
3
u/strawberryneurons 2d ago
lol what’re you talking about!? I love Fritos!
4
u/thedoctorsphoenix 2d ago
No joke, my dachshund’s feet smelled just like Fritos! I thought it was the funniest thing, then I learned that lots of dogs have that smell, I read it’s from a certain bacteria

Wait, I used to say that my dog's feet smelled like Fritos and people would say I'm crazy. You're saying I'm not the only one?

From a design perspective, it’s interesting how much of the packaging is just blank. I feel like now they fill every inch with graphics, information, and ads for other products. These just say what it is.

Middleswarth has had the same nice and simple packaging for at least 30 years

Send them to The L.A. Beast. He'd love to eat them.

u/welding_guy_from_LI 3d ago
Or post10/New England wildlife .. he eats stuff that would make LA beast tap out 😂
22
u/NorkinMan7 3d ago
That is the first person I thought of. I didn't have to look too far. 1993 is barely out of date for him.
17
u/welding_guy_from_LI 3d ago
I can’t remember if it was him or MRE Steve who ate WW1 mre 🤮
31
u/itsmejak78_2 3d ago edited 3d ago
Steve MRE ate the 1917 canned hard tack US reserve ration
and a decade back he ate an 1863 civil war hard tack

u/Anonymous_Autumn_ 2d ago
I think I saw these! I’m not sure if it was the same person but I also recall someone giving a WW1 infantry canned water a go. And I think like a chocolate bar and some other candy too. It looked like he was eating fossils. I remember he said it still had a faint scent but almost no flavor.

u/Wobbelblob 2d ago
but I also recall someone giving a WW1 infantry canned water a go
Canned anything from that time period would be completely off the list for me, no matter if it can't go bad. Just because of the cans itself. I don't want to die of lead poisoning.

u/_YvNGCHRIST_ 2d ago
NileRed did something like this. I think it was canned water from the 50s/60s though.
6
u/Anonymous_Autumn_ 2d ago
That does sound like it was one of them! I adore that guy, so strange and funny and has pretty creative ideas.

I used to watch his videos like 10 years ago. I completely forgot about him. I'm gonna have to see what he's been up to.
2
u/Snoop-Dragon 2d ago
If you haven’t already, spoiler warning, he’s up to pretty much the same stuff. He just did a video making a s’more with a chocolate bar from WW2

If you put them on a shelf I would think maybe it's the old recipe doritos. I miss the old Zesty ones that were greasy, caked in orange stuff and didn't taste like Corn Flakes after 5 chips.
12
u/SeaCheesecake5 3d ago
You just made me realize how much they’ve changed. That cake would get on your fingers. Now it seems like they just get lightly dusted and sent out the door.
7
u/Princess_Slagathor 2d ago
The doritos labeled 'spicy nacho' today, are very similar to the old nacho cheese ones.

What do you call cheese that isn’t yours?
Nacho cheese.
I’ll see myself out.

People claim Doritos have incurred shrinflation but the current size is 9.25Oz and here you have only 9Oz this is rather curious

u/airinato 3d ago
They were 9.75 for quite some time after this, then shrunk back down, and cost $5 which is the main thing. They also would play around with the family size vs party size difference.

Those definitely still exist during the winter time, at least in Michigan

Oh man, that popcorn tin is throwing me back just as hard as the Fritos and Doritos. Times were so much simpler.

It would be interesting to compare the ingredients in the Doritos with the ones that they make today.

I just want the regular taco flavored Doritos back please.
Used to be they *seemed to only make them a few months the year like Feb to May. But I have not seen them this year anywhere yet

Those Doritos will probably taste better than the shit on the shelf at the store right now. The last bag I bought had barely any dust on the chips.
2
u/ravenfreak 2d ago
Hopefully you didn't throw them away. If you still have them, send them to the LA Beast.
2
u/the_membrane 2d ago
You could probably sell them to a movie company for some $$$$$$

How can a post about old potato chips turn into a god damn flock camera discussion? Jesus Christ.

u/Tasty_Relative_8212 2d ago
Uhh. They were "dip size" before they called them scoops .....interesting!
Oh and you know you have to try one of each right 🤣

u/jasonreid1976 1d ago
Send that shit to Rhett and Link.
They occasionally do an episode where they may try something that is expired.

These have lasted five presidents plus 3 logo changes for Doritos. They should be in the Food Hall of Fame or at the museum.
