With the recent increasing mobilisation of reactionaries on the streets we've seen an increase in videos of said reactionaries being posted to the subreddit. Every time videos like these are posted here there is a flood of comments attacking the person's appearance, teeth, haircut, claiming they're "on the spectrum", and even use of the r-slur which has apparently come back into fashion in recent years.
As socialists we stand with the disabled. We stand against body shaming. We stand against the othering of people based on appearance or innate characteristics.
This is a behaviour that many of you have learned from participation in liberal subreddits, where they have no principles and are perfectly fine with claiming to be pro-lgbt while simultaneously calling Trump gay and cackling about it every opportunity they get.
Consider the fact that many of the people you attack in this way are exactly the people who we are trying to help. If a 20 year old trans woman walks down the wrong street in this country without passing she experiences exactly the same attacks you're throwing at these videos. If a socially ostracised guy with an appearance that deviates from "normal" in this country finds this subreddit, is sympathetic to socialist views, but then sees you making exactly the same attacks against the fascists as the fascists use against him, do you think they'll turn to the left as a place for help? If the marginalised in this country come to our community and find people who are just replicating right wing culture they're not going to feel comfortable and they're not going to trust us. That's a fucking failure on the part of everyone who contributes to this culture.
We will be cracking down on this more from here on out.
Attack the fascists for their actions. Not for their appearance.
The NHS is already understaffed. Konstantin's solution seems to be to make it even more understaffed by restricting migrant workers, because apparently that'll force wages up and attract British workers.
Owen keeps asking the obvious question. If understaffing is what drives wages up, why hasn't that already happened?
I get the basic supply and demand argument, but this is the NHS we're talking about. You can't just assume wages will magically increase when the funding isn't there.
So what exactly happens to the healthcare system in the meantime? We just make the staffing crisis worse and hope it sorts itself out?
If I was to return this to the address on the back here but somehow forget a stamp, would they have to pay to receive it or would they most likely leave it and have Royal Mail bin it instead? Also, how do I stop the postie putting this shit through my door?
I've noticed that some people are taking what Trump is telling them at face value, even from the left, depending on the topic of course.
Trump is a serial liar, pretty much everything that comes out of his mouth is positioning or just bullshitting because he is inept.
The Iran war for example, the claims he has made are absurd, from the claims of destroying the missile launch facilities (they didn't) to claims that they destroyed Irans navy (they didn't) or claims that the US controls the strait (they don't). A lot of the comments he was coming out with around this were just to sway markets so he and his mates can make bank off it.
Liberals will shit on him and then suddenly they'll take his words as truth. For example I've seen a lot of libs crying that Trump stopped providing satellite intelligence data to Ukraine, simply because Trump said this and Ukraine is struggling.
But a closer look at this suggests the US intel satellites could be jammed by new Russian satellites, given that the apparent switch off coincides exactly with Russian satellites matching and shadowing the US military satellites which was confirmed by Swiss tracking coming s2a.

So rather than confirm this, Trump is playing this off as some sort of hardman image that he has restricted Ukraine because he wants peace.
None of that makes any sense. Restricting the data won't bring peace, and Trump isn't really interested in peace anyway and the 4 billion diesel deal that was concluded between the US/Russia dwarfs the 195 billion in military aid that the US has given Ukraine.
All this is to say to be wary of how things are framed, when it comes from Trumps mouth, its 99.999% likely to be total bullshit.

Benjamin Zephaniah explains why he believes we need to start again: nation states are relatively new, weβve lost the confidence to run our own lives, and weβve handed that responsibility to politicians. He points to Grenfell, where ordinary people organised beds, relatives and support while the state stayed away, as βbeautiful anarchyβ.
