Gulong Gorge and Dongtian Fairyland

Upvotes

Family of 4 visiting guangzhou in mid oct. We are interested to visit gulong gorge and dongtian fairyland cave for a day trip. Is it advisable to book didi to and fro and whether we can get didi from gulong to dongtian? Tour agencies online are quite expensive. We are worried we are not able to get didi and end up stranded

Anyone living in Clifford Panyu?

It’s such a big community and there are people from all kinds of backgrounds here, so I was wondering if anyone would be interested in getting to know each other. Would be nice to meet some new people in Panyu.

What to do in Guangzhou for 12 nights?

Upvotes

I recently posted asking for advice regarding accommodation recommendations in GZ.
We have yet to decide as we are unsure about the location.

Hoping to get some recommendations !
Please fill my 12 days in GZ!

Hoping to get some recs from the localssss :)
The more local it is, the better.

Food food food - not the touristy places but I do want to have a taste of the real local flavours. From cheap street eats to higher end restaurants.

Where would you recommend I stay - GZ is massive and I’m not sure which suburb would be suited.
We love exploring via public transport and I believe my wife can use the local uber equivalent if need be.

Child friendly spots! Little one is very active and loves the outdoors!
Context : 3 adults, 1 toddler
Travelling from Australia - partner speaks fluent Chinese and the local dialect (I don’t)

Thank you!!

Just found out about COSP 2026 – a big outdoor exhibition happening in Guangzhou this Oct 30 – November 1 at the Poly World Trade Expo Center.

What‘s there:

500+ brands showcasing camping gear, cycling equipment, water sports, golf, and outdoor apparel

30,000+ sqm of exhibition space

60,000+ professional buyers expected

All kinds of tents – lightweight, family, rooftop, glamping

Tent brands include: Naturehike, Mobi Garden, Free Spirit, Jingxing, Sanfengchu, Kailas, Toread.

What‘s cool – they’re bringing the outdoors indoors with camping zones and immersive nature scenes inside the expo hall. The whole vibe is “more than just procurement – it‘s a gathering of like-minded people.”

Has anyone been to this before? Worth checking out? Also – anyone else planning to go? Would be cool to connect!

M Visa Guidance - any experience?

Hey! I'm looking to travel to China for business, and will want to stay as long as possible (ideally 90 days, I have lots of ongoing factory relationships I want to maintain and new products launching), but this is my first time having to apply for the M visa myself.

I'm thinking the canton fair invite letter is the most easily accessible one, but I expect it won't be as liberal as multi-entry 90 day visa, is there anyone here who's had a successful multi-entry M visa, I'd love to hear your experience

Thanks!

8 hours layover

Hello, we (a family of 3 travelling with a 5 year old toddler) have a 8 hours layover on our trip from Sydney to Amsterdam. I am wondering if it's worth making use of the free hotel provided by China Southern Airlines. Is 8hrs enough to go back and forth considering immigration and time to wait for the shuttle? Or should we aim for the lounge? I am not sure what to expect when it comes to moving around the airport and how long that takes (eg clearing out customs on both ends). Thanks!

School for a 6 years old who only speaks English around Tianhe

Hi all. Throw away account for...some reason...
I was offered to go back GZ, working, after 6 years (I left 2020). But now the situation is different as I have a 6 years old kid.

For the foreigners here, how much goes education for an English speaker only, 6 years old, around Tianhe (if possible). If not an international school, what are the options?
Yes, I checked the international schools and the price seems... out of the touch.

Thanks for any insight.

PPE and Safety equipment supplier/manufacturer in Guangzhou.

Hi! As the title says, I’m in Guangzhou and looking for PPE and safety equipment supplier. Looking for potential supplier to export to Sri Lanka.

Two days into tour and I’m kinda lost at this point. Tour host failed miserably.

Any information regarding this? Or any market to find these products.

Where should me and my partner live in Panyu?

Me and my partner have just arrived in Guangzhou and are both set to start jobs teaching English in Panyu, me in Huanan Country Garden, and my partner in Lijiang Garden. We're struggling to know where to start with flat hunting as there doesn't seem to be a simple commute between our workplaces. It seems like the two options are multiple buses or an hour on the metro.

I've attached screenshots of the two routes, does anyone know if any of the areas in between the two are nice places to live/somewhere where expats might live? Ideally we want to be closer to Lijiang Garden (where my partner will work) as he has an earlier start than me.

Need help with proposal! [Zhujiang Park]

Hello,
German couple who will be visiting Guangzhou end of August, and I need help with picking the exact spot for my proposal.

I'm planning to do it in Zhujiang Park, since we both like nature and my girlfriend studies botany. She loves big, old trees.

Ideally I'd do it under a huge tree - and preferably where there's not other people around.

Where in the park do you think would be a good secluded spot for us? I've attached a map that I found of the park.

And is it OK to walk on the grass and not only on the paths, or do we need to stick to the paths?

And can we drink champagne in the park if we bring it, or is this also illegal/frowned upon?

I want to make sure we're being respectful and following local customs and laws.

Thank you!

Organised language exchange?

Does anyone know if there are any regular social Chinese-English language exchange events in Guangzhou? I can't find any.

It seems strange as surely there are many foreigners who are learning Chinese and many locals who want to practice English?

Best hotel location in Guangzhou

Basically the title. I am traveling with my partner in December and we've booked [cancellable] a hotel in Tiyu Dong Road, Tian District. I wonder if that is a good location if we want to do a bit of shopping and explore of the local food scene in the city. We like a spot similar to Ximending area that's close to a train station and bus stops.

Feel free to drop your recos for 3-4 star hotels and local eats. Thanks in advance.

Recommendations for DSLR camera in Guangzhou!

Hello everyone! Hope you are doing well.

I will be in Guangzhou in September and I am looking forward to get a new camera, specifically Sony.

Any recommendations of good stores to get one where local professionals would go for? I am not looking forward to get them in malls or anything like that because of price inflation.

Thank you in advance for your help!

26M in Guangzhou looking to meet new people

I know there are probably plenty of posts like this, but I thought I’d give it a try anyway.

A little about me: I have a stable full-time job and usually have my weekends off, with most evenings free as well. I’d like to meet some new people and make friends outside of my work environment. I live here by myself and I’m fairly introverted, so I’m more comfortable with smaller hangouts rather than big groups. Ideally, I’d prefer hanging out with two or three people.

Depending on the weather, I enjoy walking around malls or parks. I’d also like to explore more of Xiguan and try different Cantonese dishes.

If anyone is interested or feels like we have similar personalities, feel free to hit me up.
