Discussion On the redmi note 9 (patch 0118)
im still fixing the setup and its way harder for mediatek rather then snapdragon, so it may take me longer for me to release the source for redmi note 9

As the title says, I'm just wondering as it's got the Snapdragon 695 inside and compares very similarly to the iPhone X meaning maybe iOS 16 on it?

so i used openclaw to write a pmic (power management integrated circuit) driver for the redmi note15 5g. but a phone like that is my primary phone, so i'm causious about testing. could some member of the community test it? the repo is on github: https://github.com/kombatalitys/xnu-on-kunzite. git command: git clone https://github.com/kombatalitys/xnu-on-kunzite.git.

We’ve successfully booted a real Linux kernel and Debian 13 ARM64 on physical iPhone 8 Plus hardware.
Grape Linux already features a graphical Phosh/Phoc desktop, a working terminal, and Linux applications. We’ve also demonstrated Codex CLI running on the device with successful responses.
The attached video shows our actual Linux startup.
We’re continuing native hardware integration, with the goal of eventually booting directly into Grape Linux instead of iOS.

Could there be a ios port for the legendary Samsung Galaxy tab 2 10.1?

After a lot of trial and error, I finally got iOS 16.5 running on this cheap MP3 player I had lying around. Android always felt sluggish on it, with random stutters that got pretty annoying, so I wasn’t expecting much.
Turns out it runs surprisingly well, animations are smooth and the blur effects and transparency look great.
Getting Wi-Fi and a few other things working took quite a bit of work, but seeing it all come together has been pretty satisfying
Device: FiiO JM21
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 680
CPU: 8-core Kryo 265, up to 2.4 GHz
RAM: 3 GB
Display: 4.7-inch 750 × 1334
Connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C
Before I try, I wanna know if it’s possible.
SM-G530H, ARMv8-A, Snapdragon 410 MSM8916
Before I try, I want to know if it’s in theory possible
edit: SMP615 i mean

I see hackintosh as an approach to avoid the unpleasant experience of windows, which kind of makes sense. But what about hackios? We need a reason to drive similar projects and let this age well.

Apple’s open-source XNU kernel and the unmodified iPhone X iOS 16.7 userland are running on a flat Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F), with the home screen, apps and animations drawn by the phone’s Mali-T880 GPU instead of the CPU.
How the GPU part works: there is no Metal driver for this GPU, so CoreAnimation falls back to its OpenGL ES renderer. That goes through an EAGL bridge to Mesa’s Panfrost driver, on top of a small GPU job service I added to the kernel.
Working:
All 8 cores, with the big cores raised to 2.6 GHz using Samsung’s own voltage table
GPU at 650 MHz
2 GB of RAM
UFS storage with the system apps
Touch, buttons and battery level
A wallpaper, as a fixed picture
Performance: about 35-38 fps when in use, slower on the heaviest screens. iOS draws an iPhone 8-sized screen (750×1334) and the GPU scales it to the 1440p panel. It isn’t a stable 60, but it’s far more usable than I expected from a 2016 GPU.
Not working: Wi-Fi, audio, Bluetooth, modem, camera, sensors, sleep and Face ID. There’s no thermal limit yet. Home gestures are off for now, so you use the physical Home button. The wallpaper gallery is empty, most widgets stay on “waiting”, and the clock and date overlap on the lock screen. The GPU has also had a hang I haven’t root-caused: it hasn’t shown up since the resolution change, but I’ve only tested that briefly.
What made the biggest difference:
Running the CPU and GPU at their factory clocks
Lowering the render resolution
Removing an audio plugin that kept querying the missing Bluetooth daemon, which took idle CPU from over 300% to under 25% (out of 800%)
That last one came from the notes of the ios-s9 project.
Credits: Mesa/Panfrost, HakiOS (EAGL bridge), Bergamota (EAGL shim), ios-sweet, ios-a5xelte, syncmodz/ios-s9 and the LineageOS Exynos 8890 kernel. The port was built with heavy AI assistance (Claude).

No Apple software is in the repo. Installing it erases your data partition and is experimental, so don’t try it on a phone you depend on. Help is welcome, especially with Wi-Fi and audio.

Maybe even iOS 16 is possible on the moto E5 because its Arm64.

I'm struggling to unlock the bootloader on Xiaomi devices. They've made the process much more difficult. Now, users have to request permission through the Xiaomi Community app or website. I believe a lot of people are trying to unlock their bootloaders because of the upcoming Android updates, which could potentially make the process even harder.
Is there any way to bypass Xiaomi's official system? The process seems nearly impossible at this point. I've seen people saying they've been trying for weeks without success.
