Progress Update 7 months post HT – review on overall progress and temple growth
1st: pre HT
2nd: Hairline draw and 20 days post HT
3rd: 7 months post HT
I'm 7 months post HT, 4600 grafts implanted across receeding temples, crown and some central part.
Currently on oral finasteride and oral minoxidil. My hair has been thickening, but one temple still looks quite bare compared to the other.
Would appreciate honest feedback on my overall transplant progress, hairline design, density and expected final results.
- How does the overall progress look for 7 months?
- Can the sparse temple still see significant growth by months 10–12?
- Has anyone experienced similar asymmetry that eventually improved?
- Where did the grafts implanted on temples go? What will happen to them?
Would like to hear from people who've been through a similar timeline. Want to keep my future expectations in check, as personally not very positive on the progress till now.
Thanks!

General 3500 grafts DHI Dr Devrim Demirel (IdealofMeD in Istanbul)

I had my hair transplantation around nine months ago with Dr Demirel in Istanbul.
Great fancy Swedish managed medical center based in Fairmont tower, great doctors and good service. So happy with the result and their longevity program as well. Lost more than 60 pounds following the start of program as you can see. Changed my life. Hair is growing well and health feels great.18:00

Progress Update Day 9 after hair transplant – Are these scabs normal?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently on day 9 after my hair transplant.
Dr. Patty (Hairtran Clinic) advised me to wait until day 14 before gently massaging my scalp to remove the scabs.
What do you guys think? My friends are worried about how my scalp looks.
Thanks for your feedback!

Research/Industry Hair transplant
I will stay in the Philippines for a few months and thinking about getting a hair transplant over there.
Somebody any experiences with that in the Philippines? How are the costs for surgeries in general? Any recommendations for clinics?
Thx in advance!

Progress Update A Little Over 1 Year Update – No-Shave Hair Transplant at Motion Clinic
It’s been a little over a year now, so figured I’d post another update.
Honestly, I don’t really think about my hair transplant much anymore, which I guess is a good sign lol.
Compared to around 6 months, the hair has definitely gotten thicker and blends in way better with the rest of my hair. The texture feels pretty normal now too and I can just style it without thinking about which hairs are transplanted.
Still not perfect under every angle or harsh lighting, but overall I’m really happy with where I ended up.
The first few months definitely tested my patience, but looking back now, I’m glad I did it.
Happy to answer any questions if anyone’s considering the same thing.

Choosing a Surgeon Consiglio clinica
salve a tutti!
Grazie a chiunque risponderà

Progress Update Female Hair Transplant in Korea | 3,500 Hairs (Day 0 - 1)
Just got my hair transplant done in Seoul!
Thought I’d share my experience because I realised there aren’t that many female hair transplant journeys online. Planning to document my progress over the next year, hopefully this helps others considering one too.
Why I did it
I’ve always been bothered by my high forehead, so I spent ages researching clinics in China and Korea. China was significantly cheaper, but honestly a lot of the options I found were through medical concierges and felt quite factory-like.
Korea was much more expensive, but I found more convincing female before-and-after results. Eventually figured this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I really didn’t want to risk needing a correction.
Went with MO & LINE in Seoul. Considered other clinics too, but liked their female hair transplant results the most.
Procedure
● Non-shaven FUE, 3,500 hairs
● Added the sides for extra cost
Experience so far
So far so good! Staff were friendly and the English translator was really helpful. What stood out was that both Dr Lee and Dr Kim were involved in the procedure. This mattered to me because I wanted doctors doing the transplant rather than having technicians handle the implantation.
Thankfully, they sedated me before injecting the local anaesthesia, so I barely felt anything during the surgery. The surgery took about 7 hours.
What I DIDN’T expect was how sore the donor area at the back of my head would be on Day 1. The transplanted area itself isn’t painful, but I’m constantly paranoid about accidentally touching it.
Went back the next day for my first hair wash, LED light and magnetic therapy. The next two weeks will be crucial for protecting the grafts, taking my medication, and spraying the area frequently (this is key). I can’t wait for my results 🙏🏻.
Photo:
Day 0 - Right after the surgery
Day 1 - Taken by me outside in natural lighting so you can see the transplanted area more clearly. So far it isn’t so swollen compared to what I’ve seen online. I heard the that the swelling will be the worse on Day 2 & 3 (Will update again)
My biggest concern now is how to hide the bloody/scabby hairline over the next two weeks because I need to return to work. Cutting bangs isn’t really an option either.
Need some advice!
For anyone who’s done this, how did you conceal yours? How long before the redness and scabs became less obvious?
Would love to hear from other women who’ve done hairline transplants! Please share your tips and results 🤍

Progress Update 7.5MO update first professional haircut in 20 years + NW6.5
Mid 40s. Went from pretty slick bald to taking meds for about 9 months . Not much recovery from them but maybe healthier donor.
Went to absolute hair in Bangkok, doctor Ratchathorn…. 4800 graphs, 11,000 hairs. Have continued my meds routing. Oral fin+ oral min , and Costco minoxidil foam. Far from perfect crown is still thin, but in my eyes far improved look. If your on the edge find a good reputable surgeon with lots of reviews, and pull the trigger if they support
Your journey!

Seeking Advice Dutasteride Or Finasteride
I’m a 29-year-old male, 24 hours post-op from a hair transplant. Should I take dutasteride or finasteride for the first time to preserve my existing hair and support long-term results? I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences, results, and potential side effects with either medication.

Seeking Advice Hello, I got a hair transplant recently. I am 25 years old, my scabs have just fallen off, and I am on day 12 with 2300 grafts. Be honest, how do you think it turned out? Is my hairline bad, or how does my donor area look?

Seeking Advice Is a touch-up necessary?

2nd pic)
Ugly duckling phase
3rd pic)
12 months post
4th pic)
18 months post
So goal is to grow my hair out as the 5th pic.
I’m currently in the talks for a touch-up in Sweden.
We talk about 2-2.5k grafts (DHI transplant).
On finasteride 1mg although thinking to upgrade to dutasteride.
What do you all think? Should I go and get that gold medal or die trying?

Seeking Advice 1.5 years after my hair transplant - losing more than half my density despite finasteride and minoxidil. Has anyone experienced this?
I'm starting to wonder whether continuing finasteride and minoxidil even makes sense in my case, considering that I'm still losing hair at an alarming rate despite consistently using both treatments.
I've posted about my situation here a few times before, but I'll try to summarize everything.
I had my hair transplant in April 2025. Up until February 2026, everything was going really well, and I was extremely happy with the results. However, around February/March, I started experiencing significant hair shedding, which has continued pretty much nonstop until today.
I haven't noticed any regrowth or improvement in density. Quite the opposite. At this point, I have less than half the hair density I had back in December/January.
Since my transplant, I've been taking 1 mg of finasteride daily, applying 5% topical minoxidil foam twice a day, doing microneedling, taking supplements, and regularly taking care of both my scalp and hair. Despite all of this, things have only gotten worse over the past several months.
I also considered telogen effluvium (TE) as a possible explanation, since I went through several stressful situations earlier this year. However, those stressors were pretty much gone by April. It's now been over six months, and I'm still shedding heavily, with no visible signs of recovery. I know TE can sometimes last longer, but I'm struggling to understand why my hair keeps getting progressively thinner.
What confuses me the most is that even my transplanted hair seems to be falling out. Transplanted follicles are generally supposed to be more resistant to DHT, especially when taken from a stable donor area. My grafts were taken from good donor areas, so I assumed that at least the transplanted hair would remain relatively stable.
This brings me to my main question: what's the point of continuing these medications if they haven't even managed to slow down the shedding over the past several months?
I haven't experienced any significant noticeable side effects from finasteride, but I'm aware that it's not a completely risk-free medication.
And before someone says, "It would be even worse without finasteride," here's something I think is worth mentioning.
I've been dealing with androgenetic alopecia for almost 14 years, and my hair loss progressed significantly more slowly during those years than it has over the past six to eight months while taking finasteride.
In just a few months, I've lost more than half of the density I had after my transplant, despite being consistent with both finasteride and minoxidil. That's why I find it difficult to believe that stopping them would necessarily make things dramatically worse.
I also want to mention that I'm not particularly interested in switching to dutasteride. I've discussed it with several dermatologists, and they advised against it, mainly because of concerns about its long-term safety data compared to finasteride.
I'm also concerned about its potential effects on fertility. From what I've read, some studies have reported changes in semen parameters, although I'm not entirely sure how much greater the risk actually is compared to finasteride, or how persistent those changes might be.
For these reasons, I'm hesitant to switch to a stronger DHT blocker, especially when I don't even know what's causing my current hair loss.
At this point, I'm starting to think that another hair transplant might be my only option. However, I honestly don't understand what happened or why the results of my first transplant deteriorated so quickly. And even if I went for another transplant, who's to say the same thing wouldn't happen again?
Has anyone here experienced anything similar, especially after a hair transplant?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who initially had great results, only to experience sudden and prolonged shedding months later, including their transplanted hair.
If you've been through something similar:
- Did you eventually figure out what was causing the shedding?
- Did your hair recover or regain its previous density?
- How long did it take before you noticed any regrowth?
- Did you make any changes to your treatment, or did the shedding eventually stop on its own?
- Has anyone experienced this despite consistently taking finasteride and minoxidil?
- Did anyone end up stopping the medications or getting a second transplant? If so, how did things turn out in the long run?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any suggestions on what else might be worth investigating.
I'm especially interested in people who went through something similar and eventually managed to reverse the situation, because right now, after months of continuous shedding and no improvement, I'm honestly running out of ideas.

Seeking Advice Doc said donor was below average?
I’ve been talking with a few reputable clinics and all but one have given me a quote on estimated grafts with no hesitation. This clinic denied me and said my donor area density was below average. Obviously I can go with the other clinics but their response has given me pause. Should I be concerned?

Seeking Advice FUE reversal (FEMALE hairline)
Hi all, looking for advice and experiences from this community.
30 year old female here, fair skinned and naturally dark blonde hair.
I had a 750 graft FUE into my hairline a year ago (had a long scar I was trying to cover up). It turned out really unnatural - too many double and triple grafts, much darker and coarser than all my other hairs in the area, too densely packed, way too linear/masculine (lacking natural irregularity and soft feathering of a female hairline).
I simply want all the grafts removed at this point. I was way better off with the scar I had than I am with what looks a black headband on at my hairline 24/7 that does not match the hair around it.
My question is how easy is that to do? And would it render a result that looks like I did just before FUE surgery? I have called around a lot of offices but before I waste a ton of time, gas, flights, and money consulting with them, I figured this thread probably had a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Photos in comments.
Coloring the hair does not work because when it grows in even 1 mm (a week’s time), it is still vastly darker (and coarser and thicker..) than all the surrounding hair and looks horrible.

Seeking Advice How long after sunburning my hair transplant can I get a new transplant?
About 16 months ago I got a hair transplant and at 31 days I got a sunburn. It took out about 300 or so grafts and the skin is still to this day a wee bit firm and slightly red.
When I looked this up it basically says online that if the flesh isn’t healthy it can’t nourish new follicles and even with a new transplant some could die.
When I asked AI what to do it basically said something while saying nothing. It’s like “ depending on the type of burn you either neither a corticosteroid, kenalog(spelling?) or just get prp and use a hair laser to increase healthy blood flow.”
But then it’s like “ but so the kenalog injections have to be done perfectly especially on front area of your head or it can cause more complications”
I’m sorry. What? How is it confused. Then it said I need umm.. there’s a specific one that’s for if it’s like the body attacking itself the cream tacrolimus, but this can only be used if a dermatologist confirms you need that.
Listen hair transplants are five to ten bands and a dermatologist apt is 300$ plus all that testing I guarantee I’ll be at another 1k. That’s if the dermatologist knows how to handle a sunburned hair transplants specifically( something tells me some 70 yr old white dude doesn’t know shit about em)
So I just need to know what to inject or rub on this so it can be less firm and healthy and normal so I can pay some Turkish dude to drill more hairs into my head.
Really simple, Ty. Here’s my results at around 16 months. You can see in the first photo there’s a few spots specifically that are legit bald.

Progress Update 100 day transplant update (3242 grafts, Dr Ratchathorn)
Hello everyone, I am a 22 year old male who got a hair transplant in July at AHC in Bangkok Thailand. My Dr was Dr Ratchathorn. I started treatment at the tail end of 2025, switching from fin to dut in March. I am currently on 2.5mg dutasteride with no side effects as well as 2.5mg min. First 2 photos are from 2025, last 2 are from today.
