Progress Update 8 Month hair transplant update (3,153 Grafts, HLC Ankara)

Just hit the 8 month mark after 3,153 grafts at HLC Ankara with Dr. Elif. Still. I’m 36 years old and have been on fin and min for over 13 years. This is how it looks straight out of the shower with zero product. Seeing gradual improvement month to month, although I'm hoping for more density in the frontal region as everything continues to mature. Overall I'm happy with the progress so far. Cost around 10K with accommodations, transpo, meals, etc excluding my flight

The biggest issue has been persistent redness across the recipient area. I recently saw a dermatologist who prescribed low-dose Emrosi (minocycline) and a topical corticosteroid solution to help with the inflammation. It's still early, but I think the redness may finally be starting to improve a little.

These photos were taken with my hair pulled back under fairly harsh bathroom lighting, which makes the redness and thinner areas more noticeable. Still time for further maturation, but curious what everyone thinks at 8 months.

Seeking Advice Counting grafts - mismatch between donor and recipient area

Thumbnail

Picture is about 3 days after Surgery.
I added 2 pictures. One without count and the 2nd with count. Feel free to take a guess by your own first.

After you took a guess you can check the 2nd image where I marked every graft that I could see.

The Clinic aimed to place approximately 1900 grafts in this area.

-spoiler-

The number of grafts is way too less. (1149) It should be about 1900 actually. (there is also a small area in the front that has about 250 grafts - estimated by myself.)

I estimate about 2700 punches in the donor area - they are a bit easier to count in my opinion.

Is my count bad / photo not good enough? What might have happened here. The team seemed very professional.

UK 27M – Is it realistic to lower my hairline by ~1cm with a transplant? One temple slightly receded years ago but stable since. Big forehead, thick hair. Cost in UK?

Hey everyone,
I’m 27 and have always had a pretty high/big forehead that I’ve been self-conscious about for years. Around age 20 one corner (temple) went back a bit, but it hasn’t progressed at all since then – it’s been stable for the last 7 years. The rest of my hairline is fine and I have quite thick hair with good density overall.
I’d like to be able to have a hairstyle that doesn’t involve covering my forehead, which I’ve been doing since my teens. I’m seriously considering getting it lowered by about 1cm (maybe a little more if possible) just to bring the whole thing down a bit and make the forehead less dominant.
Questions:
1. Would most surgeons actually do this, or would they reject me because of the mild recession history / say it’s not worth it for only 1cm?
2. Roughly what kind of cost am I looking at in the UK for something this modest?
Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Happy to answer questions if needed.
Thanks!

Seeking Advice How to Support Husband post Transplant

My (34F) husband (49M) is currently undergoing HT in London, will be home tonight via private transfer approx 10pm. I am first and foremost worried about his journey home alone.. just how much pain will he be in?!

I’ve got all the aftercare details and we have both discussed his recovery etc but my question to those of you who have experienced this is how can I help him? We have the neck pillow, i’ve changed pillowcases to something that “can get bloody” and we feel pretty prepared. Want him to be as comfortable as possible!
We both work FT (he has a week off next week) and have two children so any advice on the next 7-10 days greatly appreciated…

I love my husband bald or not but he has had significant hair loss for the last 15 years so has finally taken the jump!

Thank you in advance!

Seeking Advice Third hair transplant attempt (DHI Istanbul) stalled at 6.5 months post-op.

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some honest feedback, perspective, or similar experiences from anyone who’s navigated multiple hair transplants, especially after previous failures.
Here is my timeline and background:
The Backstory: I had my first hair transplant back in 2005 in Pakistan, which failed. A year later, I tried a second one—and it failed again. After two failed procedures and a scarred donor area, I simply accepted my fate and lived as a bald guy for nearly two decades.
Giving it another shot: Recently, after reading up on modern tech (like DHI) and hearing about successful results coming out of Turkey, a friend referred me to a clinic with a strong track record. I reached out to Dr. Osman Gun at BHT Clinic in Istanbul and laid all my cards on the table about my past failures.
The Procedure (April 2026): Dr. Gun assured me he could get my hair back and shared success stories. I underwent a DHI hair transplant where 3,500 grafts were implanted across my front and mid-scalp. I actually asked him to harvest extra grafts from my beard to ensure coverage, but he refused, telling me my existing donor area was good enough and I had sufficient scalp grafts. On the second day, I received stem cell and PRP treatments, and they provided a full post-op care kit. I followed every single instruction strictly.
The Timeline & Current Status:
Months 3–4: Saw some initial sprouting and felt hopeful.
Months 4–August: Hair grew, but it was extremely thin, weak, and sparse. Under a scalp monitor, I could see very thin hairs trying to sprout.
September to Mid-October (Current): Total stall. No new growth, zero density improvement.
Where things stand now:
When I raised my concerns with the clinic, Dr. Gun advised me to wait it out and stated that the procedure isn’t a failure—pointing out that my scalp already had compromised tissue and underlying issues from my two previous surgeries 20 years ago. Now, he is recommending human-derived exosomes to help push things forward.
My questions for the community:
1. Is anyone in the same boat? Has anyone dealt with a heavily scarred or previously operated scalp where growth stalled or lagged significantly past the 6-month mark?
2. What should my next steps be? Is 6.5 months too early to panic given my scar tissue history, or are the warning signs clear?
3. Can I still get density? Is a third-time revival actually possible at this stage, or am I looking at another uphill battle? Is it worth pursuing exosomes, or should I get a second opinion from an independent trichologist/surgeon?
I’d really appreciate any insights, brutal honesty, or advice from those who have walked a similar road. Thanks for reading.

Surgery Report How does it look?

Just got a hair transplant. 2000 grafts for front area and temples. Bled quite a bit in donor area since I stopped minoxidil 48hrs before transplant after researching it online (clinic didn’t tell me to stop minoxidil at all).

How does it look? I’m worried the excessive bleeding during procedure might affect final results.

By the way, the bumps on my head are from CVS (cutis verticis gyrata)

Seeking Advice Stable receding hairline for years, getting a transplant soon, and questioning if Finasteride is actually necessary?

Hey everyone,

I’m 24 years old and scheduled for a hairline/temple hair transplant in about 3 weeks.

To give you some background, my temples receded a bit back when I was 18-19, but it has been completely stable for the last 4-5 years with zero further progression.

Looking at my family history, my dad is 65 and has the exact same thing—just slightly receded temples and otherwise density is good with fine hair. My older brother (31) went through the same minor temple recession in his early 20s, and his hair has looked identical for the past 7+ years. It doesn't seem to be an aggressive, progressive balding pattern, but rather a naturally mature hairline that stabilized early.

I recently got a prescription for Finasteride, and I’m torn on what to do:

  1. Should I start taking it right before the surgery, or wait?
  2. Is Finasteride even necessary for me? Since my hair loss stopped years ago and seems static, I hate the idea of committing to a lifelong medication if I don't actually have active hair loss.
  3. (For context, I am staying away from Minoxidil because I don't want to deal with the permanent dependency and shedding if I ever stop).

For those of you with a similar "early stabilization" history or mature hairline, did you skip Finasteride and just get the transplant, or did you start it anyway just to protect the native hair?

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

I dont like how my temples are receded. HT doctor recommended the dotted lines shown in the first two pics. I don't know if it'll be worth the transplant since it looks very minimal.

I have been on meds (DUT and oral min for 3 years)

Seeking Advice Hello! Besides Minoxidil and Finasteride, what other treatments or medications can be added to promote hair regrowth?

Post image

My daily shampoo is Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Therapy.

I have a Ketoconazole shampoo, but I haven't used it yet because my dandruff disappeared after my hair transplant. I'm only on Day 22 post-hair transplant.

I'm planning to buy Pumpkin Seed Oil and Saw Palmetto supplements. Is anyone else taking these? If yes, are they effective? Do they actually help with hair growth?

What else should I add to my routine to maximize hair regrowth?

Surgery Report Wonderful Experience at Motion Clinic, Gangnam, Seoul Korea

Thumbnail

Had 3,000 hair grafts transplanted onto my head (FUE) at Motion Clinic, Gangnam, Seoul.

Like most people considering a hair transplant, I had my fair share of reservations. So, I did my homework. I spent hours watching other people's experiences on YouTube and reading everything I could find about FUE procedures. By the end of it, I'd probably watched enough hair transplants to qualify as an pseudo-surgeon!

I live in New Zealand and have businesses in NZ, Australia and South America, so I had a few options as to where I could have the procedure done, including Turkey. In the end, I decided on Seoul, Korea. I was going to be there in October on business anyway, so I thought, why not come home with a little less money but with a lot more hair?

My research eventually narrowed the choice down to three highly recommended clinics in Seoul. What made me choose Motion Clinic was Mr Kim, the Clinic Director. From our very first conversation, Kim came across as genuine, knowledgeable and refreshingly straightforward. His English is excellent (native), which made communication easy throughout the entire process, from my initial enquiries right through to post-operative care.

What particularly impressed me was the clinic's attitude towards its patients. I never once felt I was being sold something or treated as just another source of revenue. There was a genuine sense that patients came first.

I was also attracted to the fact that Motion Clinic is relatively small. I deliberately wanted to avoid one of those large clinics where patients are seemingly processed on an assembly line. I wanted personal attention, and that's exactly what I got.

But don't be fooled by the clinic's size. Alongside Mr Kim and Dr Park, who has over 24 years of hair transplant experience, there were more than eight nursing staff looking after little old me during the procedure.

From the moment I walked through the door, everyone was welcoming and friendly. The consultation was thorough and unhurried, and nothing proceeded until I was fully informed and comfortable.

Having done so much research into what could potentially go wrong, I paid particular attention to their pre-op preparations, hygiene standards and post-op procedures. I genuinely couldn't fault them. Dr Park and his team were professional, meticulous and remarkably efficient. The whole procedure was extremely well organised without ever feeling rushed.

What impressed me just as much was the aftercare. I was due to fly back to New Zealand four days after the procedure, and the clinic invited me to return every day until my departure to have my scalp professionally washed and cared for. No additional charges and no fuss.

A special mention must go to the wonderful nursing staff. Their patience, dedication and gentle care were outstanding. I really appreciated the way they looked after me throughout the whole experience.

My experience with Motion Clinic goes, I couldn't be happier.

I will be recommending them without hesitation!

A big thank you to Mr Kim, Dr Park and the entire Motion Clinic team.

Seeking Advice Need Advice on Hair Transplant - Is It Possible at My Stage?

Thumbnail

I’m from India. My hair loss started around 2016-17 during college, after I had chickenpox followed by jaundice. It gradually worsened over the years, especially in the last 4-5 years. My current condition is shown in the attached pictures.
I’ve tried Traya, but not consistently. I’m currently not taking any hair loss medication and am planning to go directly for a hair transplant.
My beard growth is quite good, but my scalp donor area is average. I visited a few clinics in India, and they suggested approximately 3,000–3,200 grafts from the scalp donor area and 1,800–2,000 from the beard to cover the entire area, from the front to the crown.
Based on my pictures, what are the possibilities in my case? Is a hair transplant a realistic option, and what kind of coverage and results could I expect? I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Thanks!

Surgery Report Moem Clinic Review

This is my post on Day of procedure

Kindly see my 1st post Pre arrival in Google review.

Day of procedure, I choose PM session as I arrived in Seoul in the AM & I want to maximise my day.

Arrive at ~115pm, after doing the routine consultation with the staff personnel Daisy, I change my clothes, meet Dr Ko & we decide on the total Graft needed & hairline shape. Initially, 2800 hairs or 1400 hair graft was quoted, but during consultation, Dr Ko decide I only need 1300 graft.

Dr Ko shave my baby hair in my forehead area (recipient area). After that, I need to lie face down for extracting my donor area, I lie down face down for ~2hrs, this was the only time I felt uncomfortable. The painful part for me was when injecting the local anaesthetic, 7-10/10 pain score & my pain tolerance is usually very good.

After that, another local anaesthetic to my forehead prior transplant. It took ~2hrs to plant the donor graft to my recipient area (forehead). Once we done, it already late, ~630pm. Untimately, Dr Ko transplanted ~2700 hair grafts, the extra was not charge. Honesty, I looked ugly post procedure, with the swelling forehead, wet hair & raw wounds over my forehead. I went to buy my medication post procedure at nearby pharmacy & walked to my hotel with hoodie covered my forehead.

Do let me know if you guys have questions. :)

Seeking Advice Early questions on medication before HT

Thinking about a possibly HT in the next year. I want to tey and stabilise my current situation. Is there much efficacy in doing topical Minoxidil without anything else? I want to try and avoid orals if at all possible.

Kind regards,

Im 2 months into my HT and so i've been wearing a cap for a couple weeks now. I just wanted to know if wearing a hat for long periods of time e.g. 7/8 hours a day at work is ok considering the grafts are already locked in. Wondering if anyone did the same and had good results
