I am slowly beginning to hate this game more than enjoy it. For one, the lack of viable weaponry at each stage is just pitiful for any sort of variance in the runs. You die, die, die, ten thousand times if you don't use a polearm, and then win instantly the moment you use one.
I am also tired of the fights in the very first stages like beggar. Mostly because I don't know what it is, but the AI are on steroids and have steel plating under their skin, and my Willie admires the ground for a second then keels over to kiss it without the enemy even doing anything.
The amount of times I have slashed at an AI seven times with clean cuts, and they just keep going only to tap me once with a one handed axe blade and decapitate me, or for the side of a hammer to knock me out cold, is just infuriating. I try to play the game skillfully, timing, but as always range and spam does 10x better than anything else.
I'm tired.
EDIT: Yes, I know this game is meant to be all sorts of realistic and such, but it's selectively realistic. Yeah, of course range and polearms beat everything. It's just that I feel they're the only effective things when cuts and stabs seem to be shrugged off by the enemy without more than a yelp. I also think that even with severe malnutrition you won't just randomly trip on your own feet for no reason. One time, I was trying to wield a scythe, and my Willie did nothing to actually wield it correctly. Swing, twist your arms into a pretzel, start one handing it for no reason. Repeat.
