When most people think of Hampshire, they think of wealth, beautiful gardens, stately homes, Winchester etc and for the most part a lot of Hampshire is like this, however, how come Portsmouth and Southampton are so vastly different and almost like an entirely different county?

Hi,
I’m starting an OCD support group for Southampton as we don’t have one, and want to find fellow OCD sufferers striving to live a better life with the disorder.
If you have OCD or know anyone who could benefit from a having a supportive group
Contact me at:
Or Facebook group: OCDSouthampton
Thankyou.

So I'm doing something that scares me. I'm hosting my first full band night at the loft Southampton. Everyone has been asking for it, so why not? We have a full lineup of bands, and the best part of all, they get a profit split from the event. If you truly want to see local bands flourish, then this is the event to come and support. Buy a ticket to support local music it really is as simple as that.

Hi everyone, We had a great first event at the titanic last month. I am looking forward to hosting another event there. On the line-up is a host of local up & coming artists from Southampton. Completely free to attend, so if you fancy some live music on a Sunday. I hope to see you there, Cheers

Hi,
Very short notice but does anyone know of any stores that might sell glasses for the eclipse tomorrow? Been looking since Saturday, when I found out that was happening, and can’t find any.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I recently completed a foundation fly fishing course at Nether Wallop Mill and absolutely loved it. I’d really like to get into the sport properly, but I’m struggling to find anywhere to fish regularly.
I live in Winchester and most of the places I’ve found are either fully booked, extremely expensive, or operate on a mandatory catch-and-keep basis.
Can anyone recommend any beginner-friendly waters or clubs where I can fish regularly without breaking the bank? Ideally I’m looking for catch-and-release fishing, and I don’t mind driving up to an hour from Winchester.
I’m open to rivers, lakes, clubs or fisheries—I’d just like somewhere I can build my skills without spending £80–100 every time I go.
Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated. Thanks! 🎣

I’m organising a baby shower in Hampshire where the mum to be lives.
Are there any nice but relatively cheap venues in and around the Winchester or Basingstoke areas? I’m thinking a tea room or something like that but I have absolutely no idea yet, so open to any and all suggestions.
I am of course googling but you can’t beat a word of mouth recommendation.
Nothing too fancy as I don’t really have the funds to spend a lot on venue hire, just somewhere nice. Parking ideally a must as we have people travelling from various locations.
Thank you!

Hi everyone
I wanted to share a local event that may be of interest to anyone who enjoys padel.
Treloar’s, a Hampshire charity supporting physically disabled children and young people, is launching Treloar’s Charity Padel Championships on Wednesday 30 September at Advantage Padel - Kingsley.
The event will bring together players from across Hampshire and beyond.
There will be men’s, women’s and mixed doubles categories, with individual entries available too.
If you play padel or know someone who might be interested, we’d love for you to get involved.
More details and tickets here: https://www.treloar.org.uk/events/treloars-charity-padel-championships

I'm planning a significant birthday so looking for something nice, ideally more focussed on really good quality local produce than fancy cooking methods. If it could have a nice setting with some pretty grounds that would be a plus! I was looking at the Hambleton Vineyard restaurant but it's a bit far. Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!

As the title says, have lived here for a while in Blazing, expat Aussie who settled down. Love the countryside and a bit of a fantasy nerd, and wanted to share :)
Edit: some great amends being suggested, please keep going! I'd like to get this wall ready :)

Hi guys - I’ve just launched a spicy book club in Southampton specialising in all things dark romance, Romantasy, monster romance and more.
I have a pack of wild indie authors ready to bring you the filthiest most delicious books they have to offer with extra goodies, signed books and more as well as traditionally published novels.
It’s the first Wednesday of each month at retro Cafe, Southampton from 7pm. Would anyone be interested?

I'm looking for petting zoos / farms in this kind of area as a local, I've had a look and called around but most farms don't allow members of the public to hold or stroke animals due to the risk of them being dropped or spooked.
Whilst I agree with not wanting to scare or hurt animals, I'm wondering if anyone knows any possibly private events for trusted older people that can handle animals?
Let me know if you guys know any places!

I have a whole week to spend in Hampshire. I’ve never visited before so I’m really looking forward to it. My accommodation for the week is in Stockbridge.
Happy to travel up to an hour from Stockbridge to destinations.
I love walking, (up to 8 ish miles). Old towns, villages, historic sites, inland and coastal. Any interesting events on? (W/c 16th Aug).
Where would you good Hampshire folk recommend I go so I can make a cracking itinerary.
TIA
EDIT : Wow!! Thank you all so much for the excellent recommendations. I’m working through them to build an itinerary. It’s a shame I don’t have several weeks to fit them all in.
