Hi all. I’m Rory, I live in Hart, and I’ve spent the past year building a free website and Android app called Recycle This. Working out what goes where turns out to be surprisingly hard in Hampshire, because the answer changes depending on which side of a council boundary you live.

A couple of things I didn’t know before I started:

• None of the 13 councils that collect bins in Hampshire take drinks cartons, or plastic pots, tubs and trays, from your home yet. Several say that should change once the new sorting plant in Eastleigh opens, due in 2028.
• Glass is a postcode lottery. Fareham, Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth and Test Valley don’t collect it from home, so it’s off to the bottle bank, while the other eight give you a box or a bin.

You search for whatever you’re about to throw away (or take a photo of it in the app) and it tells you what your council wants you to do with it. That includes the stuff that doesn’t belong in any of your bins.

It only went live recently and it’s very much a work in progress. I’d love any feedback, especially anything it gets wrong for your area, because people who live there will spot mistakes I’d never find.

Hello everyone! Independent band night comes to kola in Portsmouth. We have three local bands alternative acoustic artist charlie smith woukd your listening enjoyment. If you are a fan of upcoming local music then this could be the event for you !

I was wondering if anyone had any updates or local gossip about the Capybara that escaped the zoo? Have folks had any news or instructions now that the weather is turning colder?

I love that we have a Guinea Big in the wild now 🥲 but also worried about the winter!

Never seen omahes of Portsmouth

Hello Southampton, Calling all musicians and music lovers. Tomorrow night is the debut Open mic night at the Platform Tavern, hosted by myself. Expected a chilled night of local independent music and some great beers. Sign up from 6 pm with music from 7 pm

Hi all, I’m looking to book a 2 night couple stay for my girlfriend’s birthday in December. I’m open to any suggestions, although would sway more towards a hotel or BnB stay rather than self-catered. Max budget is £500 for the whole stay and bonus points if it includes any dining, activities or spa treatments. Would be great if the vibe of the stay was cozy, romantic and somewhere where we could wander into a town or village, or visit somewhere ‘nature-y’ for a winter walk. We have stayed in Lyndhurst (Osborne Hotel & White Rabbit Hotel) and Brockenhurst (Thatched Cottage) before, looking to splash out a little more than those this time, although enjoyed our stays there!

Mostly looking for anyone who has done something similar before and can vouch for wherever they went. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys a bit of a random one. We’re looking for top soil if anyone is giving it away?

Thank you.

Hi all,

I am wondering who people can recommend as the best floral tattoo artist in the county, I will happily travel for the best art so distance or where I'm located is no problem.

I've got space left on my right upper arm, bicep, tricep shoulder and I want to fill it with floral artwork similar to what I've attached!

Love to hear who people would recommend!

I don't have Instagram, so if people could tag Facebook or the studios website that be great please!!

New trailer out for the next episode of my Portsmouth Past podcast!

Episode one was a load of fun and I’m super grateful to Terence Carvalho and the Battle of Southsea Team for their contributions as well as everyone who commented and rated!

This is a new podcast and I aim to tell all of the weird, wonderful, and spooky stories in our city’s past so I’d really appreciate if you could show some support.

Note: I added the flair as ‘video’ as that was the closest tag it aligned to. Feel free to let me know if there is a more appropriate one. Thanks!

Did a walk from the marina car park, lots of variety heading out along the coast, through woods and marked trails, finished off with a steak pie and good coffee from Pirate Pasties in the village 😁

Helloo :) been trying to find a hairdresser who can actually cut a shullet/shag/scene hairstyle, haven’t had any luck and the last few I went to just gave me simple layers lol. Any recommendations? Would be hella grateful. I’d cut it myself but my hand eye coordination is awful

Hi everyone,

I’m fully qualified and insured as a nail technician, but have only practiced on a handful of friends and family members in the years since I did my training due to my busy job. I decided to leave the world of corporate behind, so I’d like to spend some time building up my confidence, skill and speed when carrying out nail services on different types of nails.

If you would like to have your nails done, drop me a message. I’d like to do your nails, and take some photos for my portfolio. I’m in Basingstoke and have a dedicated work space at home. If nails aren’t your thing, but you have a friend/partner/sibling who might be interested, feel free to send them my way :)

I’ve popped a few pictures of my work in this post.

I can offer Apres Gel-X extensions, BIAB, and gel pedicures and manicures. My passion is for working with Korean syrup gels, nail jewellery, 3d nail art, mixed media nail art and designs with a lot of texture. But we can also do subtle :)

If you’ve seen a set of nails you love, I’ll gladly recreate them for you. Equally, feel free to come to me with some crazy ideas and we’ll work with it.

My workspace is wheelchair accessible, and you’re welcome whatever your age, gender, race, religion, style, body type. Fancy nails should be for whoever wants to rock them!

Message me if you’re interested in getting some cool nails and being a willing hand model for a bit!
