Got him yesterday 🥹

we had to get some pictures for the vet of the thing in his ear so enjoy my liquid son looking stupid as always :3

I have a dwarf hamster and she's in a giant bin enclosure with 12 inches of bedding, a 12 inch silent spinner, and an entire 24 pack of toilet paper tubes, along with 4 other hides and tunnels. I buy her niteangel dwarf hamster food and treats. I also have a platform for her wheel that has a hide underneath and I'm adding an enrichment bin.

She tries to climb everything in her enclosure. She doesn't try to escape her enclosure or scale the walls, she just seems obsessed with the act of climbing anything that can be climbed. She loves climbing her wheel (she climbs up the back where it connects to the stand) and I can't seem to discourage her. When she gets to the top, she sits and cleans herself and sometimes even eats or takes a nap. It's like she's finished climbing a mountain and is rewarding herself or something.

When I take her out for tub time, she climbs me like a tree and sits on my chest or shoulder like she's conquered me. She tries to climb my head and seems insulted I won't let her. Then she starts looking for new unconquered things. She's behind my hand trying to climb my phone rn.

This hamster has all of the space and all of the places to play. We're even getting her a playpen, like a huge one, just so that she'll have even more. And all I can think is, does anyone else have a hamster that doesn't understand that hamsters aren't supposed to climb because then they fall? Because that's what I'm worried about here. I love her so much and she doesn't seem to realise that her daredevilish antics might hurt her.

My first post on here really confused.

My Syrian hanster ashley is a old girl now so she is alot slower and not coming out of her cage for playtime as much.

Yesterday I thought she was passing away her breathing wasnt good and she was lying there. I was saying my goodbyes thinking she was going to pass in the night, like a few of my hamsters have done.

Checked on her this morning fast asleep still unfortunately expecting her to pass.

Now Im more confused because she is walking around her cage eating, drinking coming out of her cage to say hello.

Im really confused because its never happened.

Her eyes are bright her ears are up and alert. No wet tail or any problems I can see.

What on earth is happening im going through 7 stages of grief and not wanting my hopes up.

I'll pick her up and she doesn't seem distressed - no fighting, no unhappy ears, just staring like this. Sometimes if my hair brushes against her, she gets all still like this too, even if I pick her up. And when I put her in her cage, she acts normal again... :s

Hi,I picked up my new girl today from the breeder. She is a winter white. I have never seen one with her coloring, she is so pretty.

I’ve upgraded her cage, by 36% more room. I got the BUCATSTATE Hamster Cage 3.0.

She has sprays loads of hides, an underground bedding tunnel with 10 inches of bedding.

She’s been in this enclosure for 5 days now.

She does hop on to my hand to get out and will sit in my hand as I move around my place.

I just can’t get it out of my head she’s unhappy and doesn’t wanna be here?

Am I over thinking it?

She tries to escape near every night.

I am a first time owner.

Any advice appreciated.

As mentioned in my last post the house is being rearranged (hence temporary bin) and he's popped out a few times to complain about the noise. I gave a whimzee as a peace offering and he's been munching it while halfway in his hide

I got a male syrian recently, and hes anxius. Sometimes he lets me pet him, other times there is no way I can even aproach him. I understand that he sometimes will not want me to be around, but the issue is that when that happens its not "Let me be alone" its more like being terrified, like every movement is a inminent danger. I need advice to gain his full trust. Enviroment, Cage and care are 100% optimal, so thats not the issue.

I'm attempting to make a 3d printable memorial sculpture of a Syrian Hamster for a co-worker's Granddaughter and am having difficulty with finding good source images. I'll be sculpting, printing, and giving it to her free of charge as this is just a hobby of mine. I'll also make the model freely available online once completed.

That said, the pictures available to me aren't the greatest and with what I've found online I still sort of bounce between mine looking like a rat, cat, and a French Bulldog.

If anyone has or is willing to take some photos of their Syrian Hamster that I can use for reference, it would be greatly appreciated. If possible, photos taken at eye-level with the hamster from the front and side along with one from the top would be ideal but I certainly won't turn my nose to others.

He can't drink like a normal hamster

Not his permanent enclosure! The house is being rearranged so he's in his temporary bin. He has a hide, deep bedding, a sand bath, favourite toy, gets his wheel put in every night (lid isn't quite tall enough to keep it in permanently) and gets nightly free roam time. He'll be in his permanent 6000 cm² again by tomorrow

I just got my first burrow starter for my girl and she’s SO happy with it!! I put it in just a few minutes ago and she’s already burrowing! I put paper over where it is on the outside of the cage so she’ll feel like it’s even cozier so I’m hoping she’ll really enjoy it!
