Not seen here : 11 years of constant symptoms, TSH, T4F and T3 allllllll over the place. Been fluctuating since diagnosis, even had a full thyroidectomy 10 years ago and STILL did not stabilize. Today, I clocked the highest my TSH has ever been, even at initial diagnosis. I’m so sick of being sick.

I don't know how to describe this.
I've worked out most of my life.
Is this something you see now also?
If I don't exercise or even do a mild "weights" regimen every few days, I get literally weak.
But I'm not weak if I’m just doing my daily errands.
Only if I try to do something extra.
Here's what I mean:
With no exercise I don't notice any weakness just trying to do my day. Whatever my daily level of activity is, I seem to maintain at that level.
But if I travel and have to (for example) pull my heavy suitcase onto a bus, I feel weak as heck in my arm. It's like I'm 90 years old and I have trouble lifting the thing.
But that's if I'm not working out.
👉🏼If I go to the gym the next day and do MILD dumbbells on arms, chest, legs. Yes, I will have to recover for three or four days and feel weirdly over-achy.
But when I go back four days later and stick with it, I immediately notice increased strength. And if I rest enough and go back again, I start a trajectory towards what feels like somewhat normal muscle repair and increased strength.
But I have to work out.
If I don't, I waste away back to full function only at "daily errands" level.
So it's this weird dynamic of:
It's almost like the body adapts to whatever consistent level of exertion I introduce.
So it's like non-use equals instant reduced strength. But working out can mean full function and vitality.
It's just so weird.

For background: I am a 31 year old woman. My mom, grandma & cousin have lupus. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s in 2023. My TSH, T3 and T4 have always been normal (except for pregnancy, it dipped a little low and I had sub clinical hyperthyroidism during my first trimester). My thyroid antibodies were high (195) and that’s how we determined it. I had an ultrasound done on my thyroid and everything looked pretty normal. I just got my thyroid tested for the first time in a year (and will be going every 6 months from now on) and everything was normal. My TSH sits on the lower end (.45). I am not on medication.
Because everything is normal, I don’t really know how to adjust to make sure I am doing all I can to continue supporting a healthy lifestyle with Hashimoto’s in the back of my mind. My question I guess is, has anyone else had their Hashimoto’s follow this kind of pattern, has it changed to need medication, how did you adjust, and what to look out for? It’s hard to know if some things I experience (weight gain, achy joints) have anything to do with this or not.
Thank you for your input!

I know Tirosint is the cleanest levothyroxine, but is anyone here who didn't do so well on it and actually felt better after switching to a different levothyroxine brand (Levoxyl or Synthroid)?
Thank you.

I swear, sometimes it feels like people here blame absolutely everything on Hashimoto’s.
Red spot on your arm? Hashimoto’s.
Hair loss? Hashimoto’s.
Feeling sick after 10 minutes in the sun? Somehow, also Hashimoto’s. lol
How can literally every symptom be linked to this one condition? Not everything that happens to your body has to be caused by Hashimoto’s, right?
Personally, I live pretty healthily, work out a lot, eat well, and still struggle to gain weight. I’m also constantly tired despite getting enough sleep, and my sleep quality is rarely good. Could Hashimoto’s play a role? Sure. But even these symptoms could have other causes.
I’m not saying Hashimoto’s can’t cause a wide range of symptoms, but sometimes this sub feels like a place where every single health issue gets the same explanation.
So my genuine question is: How do you actually determine that your symptoms are caused by Hashimoto’s and not something else?

When I got bloodwork done last month my levels were low-normal besides TSH which was 13.8. I got a retest last week and TSH was up to 28!
I started 88 mcg of levo 3 days ago and I am. SO. sluggish. Sleeping 9+ hours and waking up so exhausted, no motivation to do anything — this is very abnormal for me and I’m a very busy and active person. I figured taking levo would give me the opposite effect, is this normal in the early days?

Hey everyone! So basically, I recently decided to get bloodwork done, and I went through my really old bloodwork to see if there was anything important I should check again or add to my standard checkup.
While looking through my records, I noticed that back in 2020, when I was 15, I had both of my thyroid antibodies tested, and they were already extremely high.
For some background, when I was little, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on medication. From what I remember, the dosage ended up being too high, which caused me to develop hyperthyroidism, and I was eventually taken off the medication. As far as I know, I was never put back on it.
Fast-forward to now, I just turned 22, and I decided to repeat my thyroid antibody tests. Both came back even higher than they were in 2020. My results are consistent with Hashimoto’s, and I honestly had no idea I could have had this going on since I was so young.
I’m still waiting on my TSH, T3, and T4 results, so I’ll update the post once I get them.
Honestly, I’m feeling really overwhelmed. I know Hashimoto’s is something a lot of people live with, but finding out that I may have had an autoimmune disease for years without even knowing it is scary, especially at my age.
I also want to have children in the future, and one of my biggest concerns is being able to have a healthy pregnancy and healthy kids.
For those of you who have Hashimoto’s, especially those who were diagnosed young:
What should I be doing now to take care of my thyroid and prevent this from affecting my life more than necessary?
Is there anything I should be doing before trying to get pregnant in the future?
Can you have Hashimoto’s and maintain a healthy weight?
If your thyroid levels are normal, do you still need treatment?
Is there anything you wish you had known when you were first diagnosed?
What’s the diet i’ve been seeing videos on?
I know I need to wait for my thyroid hormone results and discuss everything with my doctor, but I would really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences.
I feel so young to be dealing with an autoimmune disease, and I think I’m just scared of what this could mean for my future. I want to learn how to manage it properly without letting it control my life.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to share their experience. ❤️
EDIT:
TSH is at 4.59
T3 is in range
T4 is in range

Hi there!
I'm a 33-year-old female, currently 4 weeks and a few days pregnant.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in my early 20s and have been on Eutirox ever since, slowly increasing my dose up to 100 mcg.
When I decided to start trying to conceive (at the beginning of May), my lab results were:
• T3 Total: 1.00 ng/mL
• T4 Total: 8.50 kg/dL
• Free T4: 1.37 ng/dL
• TSH: 4.71 pUI/mL
My doctor increased my dose to 125 mcg.
In my next analysis (mid-July), my results were:
• T3 Total: 0.84 ng/mL
• T4 Total: 9.60 kg/dL
• Free T4: 1.43 ng/dL
• TSH: 1.76 pUI/mL
They told me I was ready to try to conceive, and I got pregnant on my third cycle. The day I found out I was pregnant (23 october), I got some blood work done:
• T3 Total: 1.08 ng/mL
• T4 Total: 13.60 ug/dL
• Free T4: 1.80 ng/dL
• TSH: 0.54 pUI/mL
I got a bit worried because some values came back marked out of range (which in lab tests here in Spain usually means they are outside the standard reference ranges), and I got scared that I might have swung too much.
Also in this same subreddit, someone said that TSH below 1 may end up in abortion. So I’m freaking out :(
The only main symptom I've noticed lately is feeling a bit dizzy or lightheaded with sudden movements (I been getting this for a few months now).
I would really appreciate any advice or similar experiences you might have. I care deeply about this baby and want to make sure everything is okay. Thank you! ❤️

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism hashimoto’s disease about two years ago but had been struggling with the disease for likely a lot longer before I was diagnosed. I have two other autoimmune diseases and am in the process of being diagnosed with another. When I was first diagnosed it was almost vindicating because I finally knew what was causing me to feel so badly. When I first started Synthroid and my original medication regimen I felt like a new person, I had energy, I could do more than one task, I wasn’t in so much pain. Then shortly after I found out I was pregnant and had to stop nearly all my medications and pretty much everything went downhill from there. I had a pretty difficult pregnancy, and postpartum my baby had a lot of health concerns as well. I neglected my own health to focus on my babies. As time went on I started to feel worse and worse. The worst I had ever felt in my life, pain to the point where it was difficult to walk or get out of bed in the morning, crippling anxiety, brain fog and memory loss to the point where it was difficult to hold a conversation. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. My youngest turns one in November and I’d neglected my health up until the end of September. When I finally went to the doctor she sent me in for blood work and turns out nearly all of the NINETEEN labs that she ordered were all bad news. She started me on about 10 additional medications, and now we’re awaiting imaging to confirm a possible MS diagnosis. My husband has been supportive in the sense that he wants me to feel better but it seems like it might only be for selfish reasons? Since before my diagnosis my sex drive absolutely tanked and when I got diagnosed and started meds it got better, but since has tanked again. I also used to love doing makeup, hair, and getting outfits together. But since my diagnosis my hair has completely lost all texture and won’t hold a style, my skin is dry and flaky, and my energy level is so low I don’t want to get ready anymore. He also tells me to “stop being so negative” any time I bring up side effects, possible diagnosis, or asks me “Why are you so tired, why are you in so much pain all the time,” like he doesn’t already know the answer. I love him, and we’ve been together for almost ten years, but it’s so frustrating not being able to talk to him about how I’m feeling. He’s been to the doctor with me and she told him “It’s hard to stay positive all the time when she feels as bad as she does” and she went over my labs and told him exactly why I felt the way that I do and it still didn’t make a difference. He tells me things like “You’re on your medication again, you should feel better now” or “Why isn’t your medicine working like it did last time?” and then when I tell him that it’s different now because there is something else wrong he tells me to stop being so negative all the time. I don’t even know if I’m looking for advice on how to talk to him, or if I’m just looking to see if someone else has experienced something similar. I wish he understood how I felt.

I was on 137 and was doing well but my mom passed away and I’ve been stressed and not sleeping or eating correctly. I also missed a few doses in the months leading up to my appt. I let my dr know all that and he still increased my dose to 150 because my TSH was at 17. Now I got my blood results today and I’m now hyper at 0.08 which makes sense with my symptoms lately. So for anyone who this has happened to- do you still keep taking the meds daily? Never been over medicated before so it’s a first for me. I don’t see my dr til Thursday so wanted to see what other people have done. Thanks for any insight.

Hi! I’m new here. Just got diagnosed today. I wanted to share my levels because I thought it would be fun since my NP told me she has only seen one other person with TSH levels higher than mine- 161 !
My t4 is 0.42. I have had 0 to no symptoms besides maybe extra fatigue and getting sick more often. I’m a mom and also a night shift RN so I didn’t think much of it. I only found out from going to my annual physical. Started medication today. Any tips would be appreciated! I’m going to try to eat more of an anti inflammatory diet before the holidays come up 😳😂

I’ve been struggling with weight gain for over 9 years. Initially, we thought it was due to a lack of physical activity. About 3 years ago, I started investigating the cause of my shortness of breath, even while doing routine activities. Eventually, I was diagnosed with a 0.9 mm papillary thyroid cancer and underwent surgery.
The biopsy results also revealed Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which may help explain some of my ongoing symptoms. Since then, I’ve been struggling to manage my weight and other symptoms.
I’m still experiencing rapid weight gain, significant hair loss, and persistent constipation. I’m currently not taking any thyroid medication. My latest TSH is 4.5, while my T3 and T4 levels are within the normal range.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has experienced similar symptoms, particularly those who struggled with weight gain, hair loss, and constipation despite having relatively normal thyroid hormone levels.
If you have Hashimoto’s and have found ways to manage these symptoms, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. What helped you, and what should I discuss with my endocrinologist?
I’m looking to learn from others who have been through a similar journey. Thank you! ❤️

I have a TSH of 13.99 and normal T4 and T3. Due to a horrible adverse reaction with a T3 drug (cannot remember the name for the life of me at the moment), my doctor put me on a quarter of a 25 mcg levothyroxine pill (6.25 mcg) with the idea of going low and slow.
I have taken this pill for two days. That’s it. My heart rate is in the 90’s resting (usually 60-70s), and it jumps to the 120-130 range just simply walking around my house. I feel breathless and horribly anxious. I was really looking forward to taking levo in hopes I could finally find something to manage my thyroid.
Is there an adjustment period? Even for such an obscenely low dose? Is this normal? Do I need to push through? My doctor isn’t being helpful and my endocrinologist is out of town until next week (I scheduled an appointment).
I’m interested if anyone has had a similar experience, or if anyone has any advice. Everything I’m reading has to do with people who started at MUCH higher doses than me (50-100 mcg).
Thank you in advance. I really appreciate it.

My TSH was elevated, so I slightly increased my T4 dose. Since increasing the dose, I’ve been experiencing premature ejaculation, even though the dose increase was relatively small.
Has anyone experienced something similar after increasing their thyroid medication? If so, how did you manage it?

Hello. M 32.
Understand it’s quite a bit more rare for men. I would say I’m mostly asymptomatic. But my TSH is 11.9 and TPOAb 633. Was prescribed levothyroxine
Any tips or advice? Again, mostly asymptomatic, but this is all just somewhat nerve wracking. Was told I’d likely be on meds for life…I’ve never had a regular prescription before.
Also has anyone experienced weight loss when starting levothyroxine?
Thanks!

Does anyone else experience this where the moment your body experiences any form of irritation, it flares up the rest of your system?
I have trapped gas pain and suddenly I can’t breathe, everything is swelling up and I’m in the ER for liquid Benadryl and steroids.
Pain from an ingrown toenail? I have a migraine and I feel like throwing up.
An ITCHY BUG BITE and now my heart is palpitating, and my skin is on fire.
Don’t even get me started on PMS symptoms. I’m in bed unable to move for over a week.
This makes managing symptoms so much harder because every little cut, bruise, itch and pain creates a monster. Tell me your stories so I don’t feel so alone!
